My grateful thanks go to all the wonderful carers in the Test Community at Larchfield House. They looked after my dear husband for the last year of his life with such kindness and compassion and always with smiling faces. They made me feel so welcome during my visits, nothing was too much trouble, they
gave me space and privacy with him when I needed it and good company and laughter on other days.
I could not have wished for a better place, it helped to ease my anxiety knowing this team of amazing people really cared from their hearts and I will never forget their loving kindness to him and to me.
Thank you all.

For the clinical services manager, home manager and every single one of the wonderful team at Larchfield, thank you all so very much for looking after my mother for the last 9 years. It is the hardest thing to leave your mum in the care of others when you are many miles away, but I could not have wished
for a better place. You should be so very proud of everything you do. On my regular visits, companions would comment how lucky we were to have such a well-maintained home. When she finally left us earlier this month, your dedication and care and support to us was exceptional. You will always have our gratitude for your amazing care. Thanks again.

It was a very hard decision to have my husband admitted into a care home, from stepping through the door back in 2021, I felt Larchfield House was a place where he would receive the professional 24/7 nursing care he needed. From his first day at Larchfield House, he settled in well, all staff were so
attentive and caring. I used to ask him every morning during my visits 'are you happy', his reply was 'yes I am, everyone looks after me well'. He loved going upstairs to the HUB and spending time with the wonderful activity team, I also joined him during many of these sessions and I saw many happy residents have so much fun and quality time together. All the staff in every department work so hard to make residents feel they and are part of the Larchfield family, thank you all. When his time came in December 2023 and he needed palliative care, the care he received will always be remembered as outstanding. As his family, we thank you for your compassion and care.
Reply from Rohan Patel, Business Manager at Larchfield HouseIt brings us immense joy to hear that your husband settled in well and felt happy and cared for during his time with us. We are delighted that your husband enjoyed spending time with our activity team and that you were able to share in those moments of joy and connection. Your words about the palliative care your husband received mean the world to us. Thank you.

My husband was a resident at Larchfield House for one week in February. We would like to thank all the staff who cared for him during his stay. They treated him with great dignity and respect and encouraged him to join in the amazing array of purposeful activities provided by the activities team. He
enjoyed talking to the staff about his many years working in the NHS.

Dad was 'at home' on Cherwell Community for 5 1/2 years until he passed away earlier this month. When my sister and I chose Larchfield we instinctively knew how wonderful the home would be. Everybody was so friendly and welcoming on our initial visit and this continued. We have been overwhelmed by the
kindness, care and compassion everyone has shown. During his final few weeks, the support I received from everyone on Cherwell was outstanding. I really felt like we were all part of a family taking care of Dad. Special thanks to multiple members of staff for making Dad's final few weeks as pleasant and comfortable as possible. I cannot recommend Larchfield highly enough.

I will start by saying nobody wants to have their loved one live in a nursing home, but sometimes, for whatever reason, you have to make the decision to do just that. From the very first day, we felt Mum was being well cared for and her needs were being met. All of the staff were extremely friendly
and really helped us to navigate this new normal. Each day I was greeted by name, and someone usually had a story to tell me about Mum; they knew she liked to have her toy dog to cuddle and keep her calm, what programmes she liked to watch on the television, how sometimes a walk round in her wheelchair would distract her when she became agitated. The portal was brilliant, letting me know, about food eaten, activities etc. Mum was encouraged to join in with the many activities provided to promote her well-being, and pictures were put on her portal when she did, which was great. When Mum left for the last time, many of the staff came to say goodbye; we felt this showed care and compassion.

Larchfield House Care Home is a lovely home full of very caring staff who do an excellent job. The facilities are of a very high standard, cheerful decor and spotlessly clean, good meals. Communication with relatives is timely and accurate and I found the relatives portal a very easy way to feel part
of your relative's daily life. The caring attitude is extended to visiting relatives by making them feel part of the extended family vibe within the unit. The many activities provided are varied and interesting with staff encouraging and supporting the residents to join in.
The staff are very competent at handling the advances of Alzheimer's and helped me understand better the different stages of the disease.
If your relative is lucky enough to secure a place at Larchfield House, you can rest assured their care will be the very best.
I have no hesitation in recommending this home for your peace of mind.

My dad has been a resident at Larchfield House for 2.5 years. He is really happy there and enjoys the variety of activities that are put on each day. The staff are truly amazing and have such care and compassion for my dad and every single resident. They treat each resident as an individual, take note
of all their wants and needs and ensure they are met. The activities team go a long way to entertain residents with a variety of things to do and regularly has events that families can join in with such as BBQs and parties. Every member of staff I have had contact with is polite, friendly and well-presented. The care home itself is always clean and well presented too. Everyone there goes the extra mile and I really can not fault it.

Very good standard overall. My mother has all her needs met by a caring team in her unit. She's always clean. It is welcoming no matter how much is going on. The staff are caring and professional.
It's become a home from home in some ways and they care about me too.
I think that it was the right
decision to have Mum there. I can go in when I like.
The staff are understanding of some issues in my family and this is very kind because they don't have to.
The nurse in charge is very professional and so are the duty nurses.

I was very impressed by the care provided for my daughter. Staff were keen to understand and manage her needs. This approach worked well and she settled without great anxiety.
Equally, all of the staff were welcoming and helpful to me on

Current Review Score: 9.9 (9.890)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.9 (9.890) out of 10 for Larchfield House is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 4.9 out of 5 from 32 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 5.0 out of 5 from 32 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.890 for Larchfield House is calculated as follows: ( (337 Excellents x 5) + (29 Goods x 4) + (6 Satisfactorys x 3) ) ÷ 372 Ratings = 4.89
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 5 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Larchfield House is based on 32 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 20 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews, 0.05 Points for the next five Positive Reviews, and finally 0.025 Points for the next ten Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.050, 7th = 0.050, 8th = 0.050, 9th = 0.050, 10th = 0.050, 11th = 0.025, 12th = 0.025, 13th = 0.025, 14th = 0.025, 15th = 0.025, 16th = 0.025, 17th = 0.025, 18th = 0.025, 19th = 0.025, 20th = 0.025) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 = 4
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 98 registered maximum number of service users is 19.6, which has been reached with 32 Positive reviews. Points = 1
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
