Overall Experience

After a long stay in hospital I placed my cousin in Larchfield from a selection of homes provided by a search agency (used by the hospital) The staff were very approachable as there were initial problems due to the majority of residents having dementia, whereas my relation, despite her considerable age, still had mental capacity. Following discussions, Larchfield reacted and endeavoured to place her amongst residents having some mental capacity. Following an assessment by social services, it was suggested she moved to an alternative home providing more opportunities for social interaction.

Since my mother has resided in this home, I can't fault any of the staff (office, nurses, cleaners) with their work effort, friendly behaviour and helpful manner.

The staff are professional and friendly. The food and cleanliness is superb and my mother's health has certainly improved.

My parents came in for the week for respite care.
In this short time, I can see a huge improvement in their general well being.
Care is benefiting them immensely.

My only concern is that the other residents are mainly in a more advanced stage of dementia making interaction limited.

Everything was good at Larchfirled. Very happy with the care. Food was excellent. Great carers - I gave them a thank you card. My neighbour was very happy with the way he was looked after.

I was so happy and surprised to find what a nice place this is.
After reading the latest reports of 'inadequate'. I was worried for a dear friend who is in respite there.
However, I went to see her and to my delight, I received a friendly welcome, a lovely clean environment, and very friendly faces from all the staff I met.
The biggest surprise was how nice, carers look fresh, bright and cheery my friend looked, she'd had her hair washed which must have felt so good.
The room she was in was very bright and cheerful and most of all clean.
Staff came in to introduce themselves and to say hello, and my friends face lit up, which was lovely.
One of the carers took me aside to ask what my friends likes and dislikes were, also what she would do at home, did she listen to music/tv etc...
I am so impressed with the whole set up and 100% happy that my friend is there.

Definitely 10/10 well-done Larchfield nursing home and thank you.

My mother has been looked after by staff in the Thames suite very well. They have nursed her back to health after leaving the hospital in a very weak and poor condition but thanks to the care and attention she has received since returning home she is getting stronger by the day.

Overall Experience

On first visiting the home, I was struck quite strongly by an air of friendliness and quiet confidence in all staff encountered. The home was bright and attractive, clean and spruce in all communal and entrance areas. In the few weeks of my mother's residency, my positive feelings concerning all aspects of the home have been continuously re-enforced. Meeting with relatives of longer standing inhabitants I have been pleased and encouraged by their assertions as to the rapid and thorough improvements over the last three months since new management has been in place. My mother has settled far quicker and more comprehensively than I could ever have hoped for. She feels safe and cared for at all times.

My mother is so happy since she came to Larchfield House. She is immaculate in appearance and the staff are so kind and considerate and so helpful. The food is freshly prepared and cooked each day. The activities are really stimulating, I'm so happy that I chose the home for my mother she wants for nothing.
