My mother is looked after properly here and she is happy. However, they do not seem to have all her clothes in her room when she needs them.

Overall Experience

Larchfield House has provided my mother with specialist dementia care for almost two years. Whilst there have been occasional disputes with their management due to restricted access to mitigate Covid risks, I have always been pleased with their prompt responses and openness. Thankfully the COVID access situation has improved since September 2021. The community is divided into smaller groups. This has the advantage of regularly seeing the same staff – I am always impressed that they dress smart and are courteous to residents and visitors. More importantly, they deliver compassionate care respectful of their resident’s needs. The building and gardens were redeveloped from 2020 to 2021, and I hope the gardens will be a much-used outlet for residents in the summer months of 2022. A relatives portal gives a detailed account of what happened to your family member that day – medically, socially, perhaps a note that a follow-up is needed. I’m impressed by the transparency and professionalism.

All the staff was very efficient and professional, making my Father in Law as comfortable as possible, whilst at the same time being empathetic with family members, making a very distressing time so much easier to deal with. Heartfelt thanks to everyone.

A very positive experience of Larchfield Care home. Dad is being cared for very well and we are updated on his condition and care when we visit. The portal is a godsend as it is very easy to see what Dad has been up to and how he is doing at any time of the day.

The facilities are gradually improving to a good standard. All of the staff are loving and exceptionally caring, the standard of food is good but the laundry organisation could be improved.

I visit at least once a week to see my aunt and from the moment I step inside and speak to the receptionist nothing is too much from a simple opening of a door to a cup of tea. The staff are extremely helpful and have a genuine caring nature about them, this is also the feedback that I get from my auntie. Larchfield House is a wonderful home. I just wish there were more like it out there.

My husband is in his third respite visit and seems to settle well (after initially being indignant at being taken away from home). If he ever has to go into a home permanently I would certainly choose Larchfield House.

All the staff have been very welcoming and caring ever since my husband had to come here after a really distressing six-week stay in hospital. They are always aware of a residents need for assistance and are very patient and courteous in often extremely difficult situations. They respond readily to any queries and will give clear explanations about health issues, welfare, nutrition, behaviour and other agencies involved in my husbands care and well being.

I like the breakdown into small communities and the level of staff to residents is better than in many care homes. However, the outstanding feature of Larchfield House is the performance of the staff. They are exceptionally attentive to the needs of those in care and they even anticipate my needs as well as those of my wife. Another strong feature of the staff is that they are a team who actively support each other.

Staff are extremely helpful and friendly, going above and beyond. A person-centred homely environment and very supportive of both residents and family/friends.

My step-father is in the early stages of Alzheimer's if he needs to be accommodated, I'd want him here. Home from home and all the care values met.

I am very grateful for the kind care given to my mother by all the staff at Larchfield House.
Their compassion is remarkable. Nursing staff are skilled. I feel that my dear mother is in good hands as she nears the end of her life.

I am particularly impressed by the good teamwork, good communication and careful listening to the needs and vulnerabilities of the patient (and daughter).
