We are extremely pleased with the care that mum receives at Larchfield House. The professionalism of all the staff is exemplary - from the owner, managers, all the carers and the office staff. We feel that mum is treated with dignity and is dealt with in a kind, friendly manner - even on the occasions when she is being difficult.

My mother has been a resident at Larchfield House for 2 and a half years. In that time, she has always been cared for well.
I have noticed, however, that in that time, the care home has improved considerably. Reception is more welcoming and the food is improving all the time.

Thank you to your caring staff.

My wife used Larchfield House 2 years ago and it has gone from a not very good home to the now bright delightful home it is now. Very clean and bright lovely caring staff. I'm not certain what activities you do with the residents but it would be good if you told the visitors what you do for the residents. Things like singing, dancing and playing games to keep them active and entertained.

In the 6 weeks that Mum has been resident in Larchfield House her mobility and health has improved. We attribute this to the fact that she is very well cared for and that her eating, weight and health are monitored. The resident's portal on the website is an excellent tool that enables us to see her daily activities, care, emotional and physical wellbeing - it provides us with the reassurance that we need if we are not int he local area and able to visit her. One of the reasons that we chose Larchfield House is that we felt it would be a lovely environment for the family to visit Mum. We have not been disappointed! The grandchildren and great-grandchildren enjoy visiting Mum and find Larchfield House very welcoming and friendly. The entire family have been very well supported and accurate help and advice have always been given, when requested.

Mum has been here now for just over 3 weeks, in that time I have been in most days and have met most of the carers involved in mums care and the other residents care. I have found them to be extremely efficient and friendly with a welcoming manner and a willingness to help wherever possible. I must say they have all made mums stay to date an enjoyable experience for us as a family as well as for mum. We feel that our decision to place mum here was one of our best decisions, and would not hesitate to recommend them to anyone.

Overall Experience

Having visited many care homes in the local area my father's wife and I became despondent at finding anywhere to place him long term as his dementia progressed. My dad needed nursing care as well as dementia care and despite what some other care homes say, they are not really equipped to provide such a service or where it is, it is inadequate. So it was almost as a last resort that my dad was offered respite care at Larchfield, which has now become residential care.

It is horrible to put a loved one into residential care but when it is the only choice, I cannot think of a better place than Larchfield House. The care and attention offered to my dad has been extraordinary and on my first very apprehensive visit I watched a young carer care so gently for an elderly lady whilst she was asleep I thought, well if the staff take that amount of care for someone who is asleep, I was sure they would provide an equal amount of care when they were awake. Thank you so much!

Since my husband returned to Larchfield after some weeks in hospital there has been a significant improvement in his condition. He is well cared for, his personal hygiene is well taken care of, ie clean shaven, hair brushed, clean clothes etc. The nursing and caring staff are always kind, patient, good-humoured and friendly and I have great admiration for them all. We recently celebrated our diamond wedding anniversary with a tea party at Larchfield and the staff could not have been more kind and helpful. My husband also enjoys his food and looks well.

The staff are so kind and always helpful. My mother seems happy and content and very settled. The home always informs us if there are any problems, or if my mum has any illness. My brother and I are more than happy with the care my mother receives. The staff do an amazing job! Thank you.

The family would like to thank the Team Leader and Carer on Thames Unit for the care they gave to our Dad under very difficult circumstances. He was sent back from hospital still with a chest infection and in great pain and they were very kind and caring.
