Woodbury House Care Home cares for residents, some of whom may have sensitive care needs, such as memory loss and dementia.

The home provides residential, nursing, dementia, respite, and palliative care, and will work with residents to develop a personalised care plan that will include everything from hobbies, exercise and dietary preferences, taking into account any health issues. This will determine the level and type of care individuals receive. This can vary from minimal residential care to full support.

Located in a scenic area of Berkshire, Woodbury House is a comfortable and friendly service in which to spend a retirement, with mature gardens and its own summer house. A team of versatile care workers also extend their expertise to respite care in order to assist members of the local community who are full-time carers themselves.

Trained chefs prepare a varied daily menu to give a choice of tasty, nutritious meals.

The recreation and activities team oversee everything from pet therapy and reading club, to music exercises and knitting.

Key calendar events are always made extra special at the home, because they enjoy any excuse for a party. The activities co-ordinator works with residents and relatives to make sure there is something for everyone.

When Mum arrived at Woodbury House in July '18, we really thought it was for palliative care, but how wrong we were! The staff cared, cajoled and nursed Mum back to her usual feisty self and gave her a quality of life better than we could ever have hoped for. She became engaged in the life of the home
and had trips to the pub and the zoo which she really enjoyed. We felt her carers got to know her as a real person and gave both time and affection in dealing with her wicked sense of humour. Her health deteriorated after Christmas and she passed away in February but we will be forever grateful for the kindness and compassion shown to both my mother and my family during such a difficult time.

I cannot recommend Woodbury House Care Centre highly enough. They have been nothing but kind, professional and understanding. I genuinely feel they understand my mum and her needs. I’m not able to get to see her as often as I would like as I live a distance from the home but I feel confident that mum
is both lived and cared for by the wonderful team of caregivers. We never arrive without feeling that they are doing the very best for all the residents. It is scrupulously clean and well managed.

The home is very welcoming and comfortable. Rooms well-appointed. Grounds delightful.
The staff are magnificent. So kind, patient and competent in all they do.

The care of the staff for the residents was very good. They made life as normal as possible with pleasantness and positivity. My mum is extremely well cared for and staff are clearly very fond of her. Their patience with her is very much appreciated, especially with food. The home is kept clean and mum's room is spacious and well maintained. She has her own pictures and ornaments to remind her of her own home.

Many of the staff are kind, considerate and caring. Sometimes the response to the call bell is slow.

Before coming to Woodbury House Care Centre a year ago my mother was at her home being looked after by a multitude of carers ( at vast expense). During this period she rarely went for more than 3 weeks without having to go to hospital, normally for a urine infection.
She has been at the home for a
year and during that period has not been to hospital once.
The staff are always happy and energetic and magically managed to get my mother to take her pills.
It is not inexpensive but as in life, you get what you pay for. This is a great place and if you are considering where to leave your older loved ones I would highly recommend Woodbury House. Without being too strong, you need to get your choice right and this is a safe bet!
My mother has just passed away during the night and I wanted to share my experience with others and thank the staff for being so great.

It is a very nice care home and the staff are very supportive to the residents. The management are also very caring and listen to what we have to say. My mother has been happy with the care she has received but sadly is now bed bound.

In recent months the activities provided at Woodbury House have been excellent and much improved. There has been a careful effort to do what the residents would like and benefit from, rather than just the 'easy' activities. Mum has benefitted so much, especially from interaction with the local primary
school children and also from visits of 'The Bird Man' - wild owls etc. Keep up the good work!

Woodbury is an excellent Care home with a warm, friendly and homely atmosphere which I can thoroughly recommend.


My Mother became a resident in May this year followed by my Father who had a terminal illness a few weeks later. As a family, we have been shown such care and support from all the staff

at a difficult time of transition in our lives. My parents have been treated with dignity as individuals with individual needs and particularly with sensitivity during the last months before and after Dad passed away in November.


Throughout this time the Manager has been very approachable and allowed time to answer any questions or concerns that have arisen. I am sure my Mother will continue to receive the same high standard of care.

The atmosphere within the home continues to be friendly and supportive and homely. My father has been a resident for 18 months now and feels settled in the homely environment that is built by every member of staff within the home and says that he would not want to be anywhere else.


All staff are

very approachable and more than willing to answer any queries that may arise. There is a constant effort to make the day-to-day lives of the residents as fulfilling as possible but with the personal feelings of the residents taken into account.


All in all, Woodbury House is like a home from home and I am more than happy with the standard of care that is being afforded to my father.

The two essential features a care home must have are; a caring and dedicated staff who invariably treat the residents with care and dignity and a friendly atmosphere. Woodbury House has both of those in abundance. My wife was resident at Woodbury House for two and a half years and during that time I
visited her on many mornings and for several hours every afternoon. I was thus able to see at first hand over an extended period how the home operated. I had absolutely no reservations at all over the treatment and care she received. More recently I have regularly been visiting a neighbour who is now resident at Woodbury House and I have seen that the same high standard of care that my wife received is still being maintained.

I have been visiting a resident here for over a year and have found all well.
Reports from the resident have always been positive, except for minor issues.
Eg insistence on colourful menus has caused difficulty with some residents who with poor eyesight cannot read them because of lack of contrast
- black on white is so much easier to read.
The staff are helpful and considerate and management is on top of things and involved.
I am unable to comment on value for money as I don't know costs.

The atmosphere of Woodbury House is a warm and friendly one. The manager is a true professional always on hand in times of difficulty. This high standard was mirrored by all the staff. I cannot thank this team enough for the care they gave my cousin and the rest of the family and friends.

I managed to place my wife into your care home and our family were very pleased that we managed to do so. It is the best home we found and found the staff to be excellent, friendly, helpful and very patient and tolerant with stroppy residents. The food was good as well.
A lot of my wife's friends also
made the comment what a happy place the home was and long may it stay that way!

Jade Allwood

Job Title: Home Manager Joined: 2023

Jade Allwood is the Registered Manager for Woodbury House and has been with Woodbury since March 2023. Jade has been a registered manager in other homes for 5+ years and has a wealth of knowledge.


Jade is very passionate about ensuring there is a high standard of care and service in the home. She is very proud of the home since she joined and is excited for the future of the home as well.


Outside of work, Jade enjoys spending time with her family, cooking and reading.


In the past, Jade has been an air cadet and has even learned to fly a plane. This is one of Jade’s greatest achievements, alongside her two children.
