We visited this home and immediately knew it was perfect for Mum, and from the day she arrived she has been happy. The rooms are light and airy, very comfortable and feel like home rather than 'a care home'. We feel that all Mum's needs were taken into consideration from day one and before, with a home visit to ensure that her needs would be met. The care team at Austenwood are wonderful, including administive staff, the chef (the food is very good!) cleaning team, care team, activity team and maintenance. Nothing is too much trouble and everything is done with a smile. The activity schedule is full and varied and clearly a lot of fun for all, residents, staff and visitors alike. I would go as far as to say Mum is happier than she has been for some time and it has given us so much relief and pleasure to witness. Thank you everyone, please keep up the wonderful work.

A massive thank you to every single member of staff at Austenwood who made mum's (respite) stay so very special and for making her feel so welcome. From my initial contact with yourselves to meeting with you all, you have made a stressful situation so much easier and for that I thank you.

It is clear that Austenwood is a wonderful place to live and all the residents seem truly happy to be there. The rooms and facilities were great, the food superb, and the place was spotless. Mum enjoyed all the social activities including events, days out, sports, quizzes and so much more. All the staff were genuinely happy in their work and treated mum with kindness, care and respect.

Mum wants to return very soon and I will have no hesitation in using Austenwood again.

My father received care at Austenwood that he thoroughly deserved in his final years. Care that we could not have provided at home. The staff were quite simply incredible. They are patient. They have a deep understanding of each resident's needs. They became a part of his family. To see him smile with each one of them brought me so much joy, especially when he often didn't recognise me. The activities, the food, the cleanliness, the care, the professionalism, the warmth. The residents come first. I would recommend Austenwood for respite care through to full nursing care without hesitation. I challenge anyone to find a better care home.

I was asked by my friend to look for a Nursing Home for her as unable to manage at home.
I looked at 4 homes and Austinwood came out top.
On my arrival to view the home I had a parking space reserved for me and a very professional welcome by Jackie who escorted me round the home. I was very impressed whith what I saw. All the staff who I passed by on my viewing said good morning. Thr rooms where lovely and the one I thought would suite my friend was beautifully decorated with matching curtains and bed dressings.
The Cinema was very impressive with pretty and unusal decorations. Super.

I would not hesitate to reccommend Austinwood and the lovely professional staff.

We have been pleased with the quality of care and affection our mum has received at Austenwood. She is settled and peaceful (Alzheimer allowing) which is evident that she feels safe. We've especially appreciated the good quality of relationship which all staff have developed with mum, despite her Alzheimer's, and the respect and esteem they show! Mum particularly enjoyed the food at the beginning when she was still able to eat normally. And we've been grateful for easy, open, communication with staff. Both nursing and admin staff are always responsive to our requests. Our mum is in good hands, which genuinely care.

Following yet another stroke I could no longer look after my lovely father at home. Reluctantly I had to find a care home for him. Thankfully I found Austenwood
From the first enquiry Austenwood could not have been more helpful. I felt they focused on providing personalised care for my father taking into account his condition and his needs. The staff were all incredibly kind and at the same time very professional (I say this as a former ward sister). The facilities, standard of food, cleanliness and activities provided were excellent. The family were encouraged to visit often which we did, sometimes three times a day. We were welcomed on every occasion.

My father only spent 5 months In Austenwood before he passed away. The staff genuinely loved him and we could not have asked for better care. Simply wonderful.

Finding Austenwood Nursing Home was such a relief as I was really having trouble finding somewhere which I thought would be suitable for my Dad, who has dementia. The atmosphere, as soon as you walk in, is very welcoming and calm and very much home from home. It doesn't feel like a care home at all and very light and airy. The staff from all areas are just wonderful - caring, understanding, fun - each providing all you can ask for in their own areas of specialism. Their empathy and compassion shines through and they treat each resident as individuals. This is everything I was looking for in a care home for my Dad. He can be challenging at times but they take it in their stride and tell me not to worry. When I chat with him we agree that this is the best place for him. Thank you

My circumstances with a very elderly relative changed resulting in a Sunday enquiry for assistance. By the next day Austenwood Care Home had collected the elderly relative and welcomed her for a weeks respite care. Since then the relative has stayed in Austenwood. Relaxing in the 24 hour professional care, the comfortable surroundings and the loving people. This really is 5 star treatment.
For myself this is the first time I've had to deal with a very elderly relative with diminishing physical abilities. Austenwood's staff have provided guidance, reassurance and gently taken control. I'm so grateful for them and how they always appear happy and content leaving myself to the role of spectator

As for my elderly relative well she just wished she had known about Austenwood Care Home a lot earlier but that we can't change.

Alice LedwithJob Title:Customer Liaison ManagerJoined: 2024

As Customer Liaison Manager, I support families in one of the most important decisions they’ll ever make, finding the right home for their loved ones. I guide and support each care enquiry with compassion and professionalism, ensuring every family feels heard, informed, and confident in their choices.

In addition to my work with families, I also oversee our marketing and advertising, helping to showcase the heart of our homes and the care we provide. I’m a people person at heart, and I’m proud to be part of a business that shares my core belief: life does not end with a dementia diagnosis. Our homes are places to continue living with dignity, joy, and purpose.

Dedicated and deeply passionate, I’m here to help, no question is ever too much.

Daisy
Daisy Job Title:Through the eyes of a child Programme Leader

Daisy is an 11-year-old community champion who has been visiting The Anchorage care home since she was a toddler. A few years ago, she created Through the Eyes of a Child, a heartfelt initiative designed to capture children’s honest reflections on their experiences of visiting the care home, helping staff and residents see the environment through a child’s perspective.

What began as a simple idea has grown into a meaningful programme that fosters intergenerational connections. Daisy encourages children from local schools to visit the home, building friendships with residents and taking part in activities, events, and outings. She has also developed feedback forms to ensure children’s voices are heard and valued.

Over the past year, Daisy’s compassion and dedication have been widely recognised. She has received a Champions of Care Special Recognition Award from Person Centred Software, the Community Cup from her school for her empathy and service, and the Saxon Weald Local Community Youth Winner Award for her outstanding contribution to the care home and wider community. She is also due to join the PDCCA Volunteer Friends Scheme in the New Year.

Now beginning to share Through the Eyes of a Child with other care homes across the group, Daisy continues to lead with kindness, empathy, and maturity beyond her years, proving that age is no barrier to making a meaningful difference.
