Burnham Lodge

I am extremely grateful to all members of staff, carers, nurses and medical staff, chefs and managers at Burham Lodge for not only looking after my mum and going above and beyond for her but also for their immense support, care, understanding and attention towards our whole family. Everyone has treated my mum, and us (family) with such dignity, respect and love and I could not thank you all enough for the amazing role and part you play in the lives of the residents of the care home and their families. Thank you all.

My wife was admitted to Burnham Lodge. The assessment was thorough and detailed. All aspects of activities of daily living, medical and cultural needs were assessed comprehensively. The staff, including the manager, were very friendly and professional in their approach, whilst maintaining a homely attitude. We discussed her dietary needs with the chef, who was very accommodating. A very high standard of care is delivered by one and all.

Since changes in management-level staff, there has been a great improvement in the morale, activities, organisation, hygiene, and the general atmosphere at Burnham Lodge. My mother's room, though small, is clean and the framed photos and pictures from home are all mounted carefully on the walls. Staff provide 24-hour care, popping in hourly at night to make sure mum is okay, and there is a mat by her bed that sends information to the office if she falls. A special mattress is provided for the less mobile and those in pain to prevent bedsores. Personal attention given to each resident seems to be a hallmark of the care. Instead of being a number, residents are individuals. The garden is lovely and most are quite accessible for wheelchair users. If each resident could be allocated a Key Worker, this would enable residents' personal needs and preferences to be known and dealt with even better than they are now. This may require more full-time and permanent staffing than is currently possible.

Firstly, impressed with the care of the gardens, then the inside of Burnham Lodge is very smart and welcoming! Found also the staff most helpful and welcoming too, giving clear answers to any questions I had. Finally, myself, my neighbour and the various staff I spoke to all agreed that a piano or keyboard would be ideal at Burnham Lodge, as I myself played the keyboard here many years ago and residents thoroughly enjoyed it.

Grandma is always well looked after and she seems really happy here. The home always looks very clean and tidy and the staff are all lovely. I’m very pleased that Grandma is here and I’m confident that she is getting the best care possible!

My mother was moved from hospital to Burnham Lodge for a temporary period. I had the opportunity of visiting her at Burnham Lodge and found the staff to be very professional, caring and patient. Staff were also pleased to speak on the phone. Burnham Lodge were very good in promptly letting me know of any matters of concern with regard to my mother's health. The nursing home looked very clean, well decorated - her bedroom was very nice and overlooked part of the extensive grounds.

This has been a difficult time for my husband coming from a hospice to a nursing home. The building is beautiful and staff have worked hard to make him feel settled.

My mum is well looked after in Burnham Lodge and it is peace of mind for me to know she is safe and well at all times. The staff are always helpful and friendly, offering good advice for myself and my family in a difficult sitaution.

Lovely food, great choice including vegetarian options. Lovely pudding and cakes are all homemade. The chef is excellent and very caring towards the residents as well as cooking excellent food.

When we were looking for a residential place for a friend that would look after her as if she was in her own home, keep her safe and look after her well, Burnham Lodge was the place for her. The staff are friendly, helpful and caring. When you arrive at Burnham Lodge, you are always greeted with a smile and a friendly welcome and this can be done at any time of the day.

My mother once she settled in is very comfortable and happy. She enjoys the food and entertainment, the carers are always there if needed and are very kind. The home is very clean and the garden is beautiful.

The staff are friendly and helpful, especially one member who can't do enough for you. The home is clean and beautifully decorated, and my brother says the chef is brilliant. The nurses are caring and informative.

It appears to be an outstanding well managed nursing home. The quality of care is outstanding. I feel fortunate my wife is a resident here.

In the little time that my father has been here, I have noticed an improvement in his general health and alertness at every visit. The staff are always polite and helpful. The gardens are well maintained and beautiful and are great for my father as he is a lifelong gardener.

We found the staff to be extremely kind, compassionate and above all caring to my mother.

The staff are Burnham Lodge are always king and caring to both my father-in-law and family. The lodge is situated in a beautiful garden in woodlands, and is decorated to feel like home and is always very clean and inviting. I am so glad we brought my father-in-law to Burnham Lodge; it's like being on a lovely holiday.

My elderly mother was brought here as an emergency resident after leaving the hospital. She has since stayed as a permanent resident and we are incredibly happy with the level of care my mother is receiving. She has settled in very well.

The home is indeed beautiful and the grounds are lovely. However, as a family, we found it very difficult and sometimes impossible to reach my Stepmother. The phones remain unanswered and over the Christmas period were out of action as was the WiFi. This caused my elderly dad much frustration at trying to reach his wife. We reported it regularly and it was always met with a lack of urgency. Visiting during Covid was chaotic and often unwelcoming.

My 87-year young mother was admitted after a short illness in hospital. Due to Covid-19 we have been unable to view or visit her in the home however the exceptional care and kindness they have shown to both my sister and I and our mother has been superb. They regularly call or FaceTime us, my mother wasn’t eating so they kept checking to see what food they could tempt my mum to eat. We can drop treats off to her and they have shown such devotion and love to our mother in these very hard times. Our mother always looks well looked after and the staff always have a little laugh and giggle with us during our calls. They have helped reassure us both that our mother is in a very safe place - thank you all.
