I was very pleased with the care my wife received. I was always kept up to date with the condition of my wife. All the staff are pleasant and friendly. No communication with the manager over the period of my wife's stay.

My mother spent the last six months of her life at Hampden Hall. I was impressed throughout by the friendliness and helpfulness of the staff. Communications were excellent - I always received a phone call if there was a problem (unlike the previous two care homes my mother was in) and the lead carer handled the last few weeks of my mother's life with great sensitivity and understanding. Thank you for all your care and assistance during this difficult time.

Staff are friendly and caring. They treat my mother with respect and always make time to chat when they bring her meals or drinks. The food here is excellent. Although my mother chooses not to join in activities, there is always plenty going on. I feel confident that she is being looked after well.

My husband was a resident here for eight years, and from the start we were always aware of how much the staff cared about the residents. We felt able to discuss his problems whenever this was necessary and if issues arose, they were sorted promptly. Everyone knew him by name, from the senior staff to the cleaners and kitchen staff, and all were happy to talk to us when we invited. Nothing was ever too much trouble.

Very kind, caring staff. Food is good - well presented.

Thought bed linen/covers could be better but room well presented.

Maybe activities could be more to stimulate/involve patients, but appreciate it's not easy due to the mental capacity and physical ability of all patients.

Activity staff are very patient and interactive.

The outdoor BBQ is excellent.

My mum's care has been marvellous to witness. The staff are very caring and kind. Everyone acted in a very prompt timescale if we needed to query anything or ask for something for our mum. Every time I visited I noticed all the residents were very well looked after.

I cannot fault this care home. My mother spent the last 17 months of her life here, receiving 'end of life care' and suffering from dementia.
The home is very well run and best efforts were made by all staff to provide her with excellent care in all respects.

It is clear that staff are very well trained, and that the right kind of 'caring' individuals are recruited and well supervised.

A well-run facility, much improvement after the disgusting carpets had been removed. If anything, the flooring was the worst experience I had ever seen and I should know, I am an authorised Health and Safety Inspector. Otherwise, staff are very good, attentive and my aged aunt didn't know what day of the week it was but nonetheless, I have the utmost admiration for all the staff. Well done. Especially the sister who is a star.

Excellent care.
Private room.
Allowed own furniture, pictures and ornaments.
Nurses gave visitors the necessary information.
Slings and hoists (for most residents) available.

My only concern was that on the second floor, the door to the fire escape was kept locked - keypad.

Review from Angela W (Daughter of Resident) published on 29 March 2017 Submitted via Review Postal Card
Overall Experience

My father stayed at Hampden Hall for a year before he sadly died this February. During his time at Hampden, his medical needs were met brilliantly. In fact, medically, he was more stable than he has been for many years during his long illness. Everyone in the home was very caring and kind. This included the cleaning staff, the reception and admin staff and the kitchen team.

We were always met with a smile and lots of care and concern. As a visitor, this can be so very important, it can be difficult leaving your loved one in a care home and visiting every day but knowing the people were so kind and friendly at Hampden made a real difference. This was especially important to us during Dad's final weeks.

The care and sensitivity of the nursing and care staff were second to none. We were supported and helped and my Dad's needs were kindly met with attention and dignity. For this, we are so very thankful. We felt like part of the family at Hampden Hall. This was important for us and for Dad. Thank you all so much.
