The reminiscence section has been absolutely brilliant for our Mum, with more one-to-one care and one-to-one interaction. We know from the activities and care from the excellent staff that she is better now both mentally and physically. She has dramatically improved even with her dementia, than 2 years ago. I can't recommend them highly enough.

My mother has lived at Sunrise Beaconsfield for nearly 3 years and has always been treated with respect and kindness. The staff on the dementia ward are well trained, patient and very caring. They deal with sometimes difficult situations with humour and understanding and have been very supportive of me if I am struggling to cope.

My mother moved into Sunrise of Beaconsfield in the summer of 2017 and the relief that she now has support and most importantly, company is very welcome. The staff are very pleasant and I can pop in to see my mother at any time. There are activities every day, which are optional, as well as a couple of outings each week to areas of interest. The gardens are lovely in the summer, with plenty of space and the communal rooms inside are very homely.

Mum moved into Sunrise in the early months of 2016 and she died there in August 2017. For us, her daughters and our families, it was a relief that mum was able to be supported rather than living alone where she had become lonely and isolated and relatively withdrawn from daily social interactions with others. For mum, this change meant that she regained much of her joy for life especially through the social interactions and activities that Sunrise had to offer her, the trips out particularly opened her eyes again to the outdoor world she loved. She could enjoy again singing, dancing and poetry, all activities offered by Sunrise. Additionally, her pleasure during this time was gained through the relationships she developed with the staff especially when she was able to learn about everyone's families and their own relationships. This warmth and friendship from staff members towards mum helped her and us considerably during her final illness.

My father appears to be very content and always smiling. All the staff know his name and seem genuinely to care for him. It is comforting to know he is being well looked after.

My mother who has increasing dementia has been a resident for over a year. During this time she has moved from the open living to the secure living. We, the family, call in most days to visit here and thus have a great understanding of how the home works. In over a year I have never seen any of the staff say a cross word to a resident or relative. I cannot tell you how impressed I am with the care, kindness, friendliness and professionalism that every one of the staff has exhibited every single time I have visited. The ambience is lovely, the food exceptional. I have always said I would love to live there too.

Overall Experience

Sunrise of Beaconsfield is a good Carehome and reflects the services that should be provided at the higher end of residential care pricing. Staff are helpful and considerate, the home is clean and well decorated and the food is excellent. Personally, I would make changes to the communal areas on the ground floor and increase the number of staff, although I do accept that recruiting can be difficult.

We moved Dad, who is disabled and has the onset of Parkinson's, from hospital to Sunrise in Beaconsfield. We have seen a marked improvement in his health and well-being - many thanks, Sunrise!

The staff there are friendly and helpful. We have found a good place for Dad and can now have peace of mind that he is being looked after properly.

Everyone at Sunrise of Beaconsfield was great, from the initial viewing, through to the assessment of my father, moving in, care while he was there, help during his last few days and aftercare to the family. We have the impression that the permanent staff really do care about their residents so it's not 'just a job'.

The facilities are excellent, the food is good and there are plenty of activities and entertainment laid on.

We have found the care home and staff to be very welcoming and hospitable. They have welcomed my mother and her family. But have also been hospitable to her guests in the way in which she would have done whilst living in her own home.

The home is warm and the environment feels comfortable. It very much feels like 'home-from-home'.

Any concerns or questions we have had during this period whilst my mother settles into the environment have been promptly responded to.

My mother has been at Sunrise for 6 years. The carers and management have been friendly, kind, supportive but most importantly they are very kind to my mother. They have a tough job and at times a lot of responsibility. Dementia residents can be very difficult and I admire the staff. There are areas that could be improved but not involving the carers! Thank you so much.

I have visited this care home on many occasions and seen many interactions between staff and residents. I have always witnessed warmth, intelligence, good humour, gentle care and imaginative anticipation. I do not know how Sunrise manages such good discipline and nurturing attention amongst its staff, but there seems to something good about the culture here. This is, of course, very difficult work and it seems to me that Sunrise provides an exemplar of how it should be done.

Alice Dunning
Alice DunningJob Title:General ManagerJoined: 2026

I began my career in care straight out of education, and have been dedicated to supporting people ever since. Over the years, I have gained experience across a wide range of care settings, including residential care homes, domiciliary care, and sheltered housing. This has given me a broad understanding of the different needs of individuals and the importance of providing compassionate, person-centred care.

Since becoming a Care Home Manager in 2018, I have had the privilege of leading both small and large care homes. My focus has always been on creating a positive, supportive environment where residents can enjoy the best possible quality of life and where staff feel valued, empowered, and supported to deliver outstanding care.

Mark Choules
Mark ChoulesJob Title:Deputy ManagerJoined: 2019

After working as a Pharmacy Technician for 10 years, I decided to follow my heart and move into the care sector. Joining the home as a Care Assistant in 2019, I have been able to develop my career, becoming a Senior Carer and Wellness Co-ordinator, and at the beginning of 2024, I was delighted to be offered the position of Residential Care Manager.

Working alongside my team of incredible carers, we strive to deliver exceptional person-centred care to every resident every day. A busy, varied and hugely rewarding position which I feel privileged to hold.

Briony Smith
Briony SmithJob Title:Dementia Care ManagerJoined: 2026

My career in care began when I was 21 years old, and it has been my passion ever since. At 24, I became a mum to my daughter and returned to work when she was just three months old, balancing family life with a career I truly love.

I started as a care assistant and remained in my first care home until I was 25. I then moved to a care home in Amersham, where I progressed to the role of Team Leader. After that, I joined a domiciliary care provider as a Senior Carer and worked my way up to Deputy Manager. Following 15 rewarding years in domiciliary care, I returned to residential care as a Deputy Manager.

Throughout my career, I have worked my way up from care assistant to deputy management, gaining valuable experience across both residential and domiciliary care settings. Today, I am proud to be Dementia Care Manager for Beaconsfield Heights.

Caring for others has always been more than just a job for me; it's a vocation. I continue to enjoy making a positive difference to people's lives every day, and I embrace the challenges and rewards that come with providing high-quality, person-centred care.

I am very proud to be part of the team here at Beaconsfield. We always ensure that we deliver five-star service in every department; this was particularly highlighted throughout the pandemic as we recognised it was such a difficult time for residents, families and the staff.

The team spent a lot of time reassuring residents and kept them mentally and physically stimulated, and of course, our residents' safety was and is still the top priority. Our Concierge team run evening activities such as Cheese & Wine nights, Bingo and Quizzes which our residents love! I work closely with residents and their families to ensure that all enjoy dining experiences and that each resident has a nutritional meal plan to suit their needs.

I am now delighted to have been promoted to the position of Activities Manager. As Activities Manager, I am driven to provide all of our residents with a person-centred approach to their day, taking time to get to know every resident, who they are, what is important to them and enabling us to offer tailored, enjoyable and purposeful activities. I am supported by a wonderful team, who share my passion and form genuine and caring relationships with all of our residents and their families and friends.
