Kents Hill is an established purpose-built care home offering elderly residential, nursing and dementia care. A professional team has furnished the Home to an exceptionally high standard, providing elegance and comfort.

The “home from home” feel at Kents Hill is created by the dedicated staff who have been selected not only for their professional ability but also for their commitment to truly making a difference for the people in their care.

Resident’s rooms are spacious and feature en suite facilities. The communal areas are at the centre of what makes Kents Hill a real community whether it be at meal times or when enjoying activities. There are no fixed visiting hours so friends and family can come and see residents at any time.

Activities and day trips are an integral part of the resident’s well being. The activities coordinator encourages and helps residents continue with existing interests and also introduces new hobbies. The minibus is used frequently to take residents on day trips near and a little further from the Home. The trips are very popular and recently, days out to Woburn Safari Park, Middleton Hall, Frosts Garden Centre, Stoke Goldington Small Gauge Railway and Linslade Canal have been greatly enjoyed.

The dining experience at Kents Hill boasts fine home cooking by a professional Chef who has created a menu to reflect the interests and tastes of the discerning residents.

Respite care at Kents Hill is very popular and enables those wishing to experience what the Home has to offer before making a full commitment.

In October 2015, 15 brand new luxury suites will open along with a new lounge, library, salon and bistro all adding to the style and comfort the Home offers.

Reviews

8.4 Kents Hill Care Home has a Review Score of 8.4 (8.350)

The Review Score of 8.4 (maximum of 10) for Kents Hill Care Home is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  • a) The Average Rating is 5 out of 5 from 5 Reviews over all time. This Average Rating is also the rating value for Kents Hill Care Home in Google's Search Results - more info

  • b) The score for the number of positive Reviews is 3.4 out of 5 from 2 positive Reviews in the last 12 months.

  • a) 5 Points are available for the Average Rating of all Reviews over all time. For each review the Care Home / service is rated Excellent, Good, Satisfactory, Poor or Very Poor on a number of areas eg Staff, Management etc. The Care Home receives points for each rating as follows: Excellent = 5. Good = 4. Satisfactory = 3. Poor = 2. Very Poor = 1. These points are added up and then divided by the total number of completed ratings to generate the average rating.

    The Average Rating of 4.967 for Kents Hill Care Home is calculated as follows: ( (58 Excellents x 5) + (2 Goods x 4) ) ÷ 60 Ratings = 4.967

  • b) 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 12 months. If there are no Positive Reviews in the last 12 months, then 2.5 points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 2 years. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with 'Extremely Likely' or 'Likely' in answer to the question 'How likely are you to recommend this Care Home to friends and family if they needed similar care or treatment?'

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 5 Positive Reviews, 3 points for the first Positive Review and then 0.25 Points for each of the next 4 Positive Reviews.

    2. 1 point is available for reaching a target number of Positive Reviews based on 20% of the number of registered maximum number of service users. If the target is partially reached then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home with 50 registered maximum number of service users has a target of 10 Positive Reviews, if it has 10 or more Positive Reviews it will receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews will receive 0.7 points.

    3. If there are no Positive Reviews in the last 12 months, then 2.5 points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 2 years. The calculation is the same as above, except the points are divided by 2.

The 3.383 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Kents Hill Care Home is based on 2 positive Reviews in the last 12 months and is calculated as follows:

    1. 3 + 0.25 = 3.25

    2. Target of 15 positive Reviews (75 registered maximum number of service users ÷ 5). 2 Reviews ÷ 15 Target = 0.133

  • When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.

It was a bit of a shock for mum to leave her three bedroom house and to end up in a room with no kitchen but it didn't take long to get used to her cups of tea being brought in for her by the lovely caring staff. It took her a while to settle as she started off on the second floor but she preferred it on the ground floor where she could find her way around and end up in the lounge where she spent most of her days laughing and giggling with the other residents. The activities provided were just brilliant and kept mum amused.
I feel mum was able to be independent when she could and if she was poorly she was looked after by the nursing team and carers. The GP and ambulances were called if and when needed and I was updated when necessary. Sadly mum has passed away now, she was well looked after and didn't want to go into hospital, she didn't make it back to the home and I know she was sad about that. Mum was treated with dignity at all times even when her dementia days got the better of her.

My previously independent Mother has recently become too frail to live by herself although mentally she is very alert. She has been in Kents Hill Nursing Home for the past 6 weeks. My Mother would be the first to complain but she has nothing but praise for the way she has been treated and listened to. All her needs are being addressed by the friendly helpful Team of Carers. She compares her stay to a 5-star hotel! The food is of an extremely high standard and freshly cooked. The activities coordinator provides daily activities which she can join in. The relief to know my Mother is being looked after and to such a high standard has made such a difference to our family. Thank you all so much. I would highly recommend Kents Hill.

Mum at 91 had her first experience of a care home for 2 weeks whilst my sister took holiday.
She was dreading it, but very happy to report she not only survived but was extremely impressed with everything, from facilities to food and particularly staff who were exceptional, looking after her every need and always with a smile.

A brilliant care home that is providing my relative with great care. All the staff are friendly and help with everything needed. I cannot ask for more from a care home and it makes me feel happy my relative is in such good hands.

Description:

My name is Carol Wilson and I have been working for Maria Mallaband Care Group for two years as a Home Manager based in Northampton.

I have been a nurse for twenty years, training at the University of Brighton and have worked in a variety of different settings including Private Nursing and Residential Care as well as Intermediate Care and Respite and Rehabilitation services.

My NHS background is Trauma Orthopaedics and Emergency Medicine and I worked on the Emergency Assessment Unit at Worthing Hospital.
I moved into the area of Home Management nearly ten years ago and it is an area that I greatly enjoy. I began working at Kents Hill towards the end of March 2017, initially assisting the Deputy Manager and her team during the transitional process. The position for Care Manager was then being advertised and following my application I was appointed into post and became permanently placed at Kents Hill as of 18th May 2017.

Kents Hill is a lovely home with very caring staff.
