Mum has recently started staying at Westbury Grange. I was no longer able to manage her care myself and it is very close to my home. Mum has so far settled really well. She has a lovely room with a sizable en-suite and the unit is big enough but not so big that she would get lost or disorientated. The
manager, admin and care staff have all been wonderful and Mum’s care is fantastic. She is joining in all of the activities offered and is enjoying all of the food she is given. I have worried so much about this transition but Mum seems really happy.
Reply from Julie Roche, Home Manager at Westbury GrangeThank you so much for your kind review, we are glad that Mum has settled so well and is happy at Westbury Grange, and that she enjoys all of the activities and is happy with her friends and the staff on the unit.

I would like to praise the manager and all the staff for the excellent care they took of my mother during her stay before she passed away on the 19th of October 2022. They made her feel very welcome and comfortable, giving her lots of personal care and love. They were always very helpful to me when
I visited, giving me very informative updates regarding my mother. I was reassured that my mother was receiving the best care and attention which put my mind at rest, knowing my mother was very safe, cared for and loved. I can't thank the manager and her staff enough and would recommend Westbury Grange to anyone looking for a friendly, helpful and caring care home.

My mum has been at Westbury Grange for several years now. The staff were amazing before Covid. During Covid, they had to deal with so much. It was hard not being able to see Mum. However, they excelled in her care and I really feel that they love her too. The manager, as well as others, often stepped
into different roles - chef, nurse or caterer.
Can’t recommend them enough.
It is fabulous now I can just go in unannounced with doggie.
Would book myself in now but not quite there yet.
Thank you to all staff who have and do care for my mum.
Reply from Julie Roche, Home Manager at Westbury GrangeThank you for such kind comments, the whole staff team worked so hard through Covid doing whatever task they had to do to ensure all our residents were well cared for and safe and it's lovely that this has been recognised. We are also enjoying having relatives visiting and that includes the dogs being able to visit freely now. I will pass your comments on to the team.

Whenever I visit my mother-in-law I am always comforted by the cheerful, caring and attentive attitude of all the staff.
My mother-in-law is clearly well looked after and we are grateful that her dementia-related anxiety levels (which were rapidly increasing) appear to have stabilised and reduced
since she came to Westbury in May 2021.
Many thanks to the manager and the team!

As I see it as a visitor, Westbury Grange is a superb care home. The staff are always welcoming, friendly and helpful. There is always someone to talk to, should I need to ask any questions. Very friendly atmosphere. Staff always seem very caring. When I visit I always see several members of staff going
about their daily work (which I do not see in other care homes I visit).

My husband has only been at the care home for a week. I have nothing but praise for this home. The staff are very welcoming, cheerful and professional. They really have the residents' welfare best interests at heart, with plenty of activities to keep them occupied. Light spacious rooms and a safe garden.

My dear friend has been a resident in Westbury Grange for over 3 years. He has always been happy there and, although his health is now deteriorating, I feel the staff there are very caring and respectful towards him. caregiver, I have been kept up to date with all the guidelines. I am so grateful to everyone for all their hard work and care.

My mum became a resident at Westbury Grange last year when she needed 24/7 care. Initially, we had a zoom chat with the manager and were shown the facilities including the room which would be hers. This was very helpful and enabled us to discuss Mum’s needs and the guidelines which they follow to keep
Mum safe. We are extremely pleased that she has settled in well. The staff are highly professional but very warm and approachable. There are lots of activities to keep the residents occupied. The facilities are of a very high standard and so is the food which Mum loves. It is wonderful that they have two huge rabbits which she loves to cuddle. Mum particularly likes having her hair done and her nails manicured. We were able to enjoy visits with Mum until the recent Covid outbreak. My brother is the designated Essential Family Carer and keeps the family up to date. We are so looking forward to being able to visit her again soon, but it is reassuring to know that Mum is being well looked after.
Reply from Julie Roche, Home Manager at Westbury GrangeThank you so much for taking the time to review Westbury Grange. It's so lovely to see your mum's face when she cuddles our very well-fed rabbits, we are so looking forward to being able to meet up with all of you.

Mum is very well cared for in Westbury Grange. The manager and the staff are amazing - kind, respectful and so caring. There are lots of activities organised, the rooms are very well cleaned and maintained. The food is of a high standard and has plenty of variety. Pre-Covid, we could visit any time.
Even through Covid, staff have tried to facilitate visits from family when regulations allowed. They are never too busy to chat with family members in Westbury or those of us visiting. We have been so fortunate to have found Westbury Grange and know that Mum is in excellent hands.

My dad has now been in Westbury for ten months. The staff always keep me informed of his medical and personal needs.
Because of Covid restrictions, I am currently only able to visit my 96-year-old father weekly, in his room. (I am his next of kin and attorney). He needs 24-hour nursing care, but he
always seems happy, despite his severe dementia and deafness!
He appears to be well looked after and I think he is happy and very settled in his present caring environment.
I cycle past, most days, to leave Dad a newspaper and wave to him, where he sits, looking out of the first-floor window.
I look forward to being able to take him out again, in a wheelchair for some fresh air, in future visits, please.
It is difficult to comment on food/drink, as I have no knowledge of that. However, Dad appears well fed!
A big thank you to all the amazing team at Westbury Grange, for looking after my dad.
Reply from Julie Roche, Home Manager at Westbury GrangeThank you for your review, I will pass this on to the staff team. They are a very strong team but certainly have been amazing over the last couple of years and I am very proud of them.

Current Review Score: 9.7 (9.721)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.7 (9.721) out of 10 for Westbury Grange is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 4.9 out of 5 from 11 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 4.8 out of 5 from 11 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.946 for Westbury Grange is calculated as follows: ( (122 Excellents x 5) + (7 Goods x 4) ) ÷ 129 Ratings = 4.946
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 4.775 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Westbury Grange is based on 11 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 20 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews, 0.05 Points for the next five Positive Reviews, and finally 0.025 Points for the next ten Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.050, 7th = 0.050, 8th = 0.050, 9th = 0.050, 10th = 0.050, 11th = 0.025, 12th = 0.025, 13th = 0.025, 14th = 0.025, 15th = 0.025, 16th = 0.025, 17th = 0.025, 18th = 0.025, 19th = 0.025, 20th = 0.025) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.025 = 3.775
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 45 registered maximum number of service users is 9, which has been reached with 11 Positive reviews. Points = 1
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
