My mother has been at Westbury Grange for three years and from the start, she has been happy and settled there. I know she feels safe and well cared for by the staff. The pandemic has had a huge impact on everyone and I miss the community aspect of visiting her, i.e. interacting with other residents and their families, but I think Westbury have done their utmost to keep going through all of this.

Reply from Julie Roche, Home Manager at Westbury Grange

Thank you for your kind words, we are all looking forward to getting back that community spirit. We will have a big celebration once this is all over.

My dad has now been in Westbury for ten months. The staff always keep me informed of his medical and personal needs.
Because of Covid restrictions, I am currently only able to visit my 96-year-old father weekly, in his room. (I am his next of kin and attorney). He needs 24-hour nursing care, but he always seems happy, despite his severe dementia and deafness!
He appears to be well looked after and I think he is happy and very settled in his present caring environment.
I cycle past, most days, to leave Dad a newspaper and wave to him, where he sits, looking out of the first-floor window.
I look forward to being able to take him out again, in a wheelchair for some fresh air, in future visits, please.
It is difficult to comment on food/drink, as I have no knowledge of that. However, Dad appears well fed!

A big thank you to all the amazing team at Westbury Grange, for looking after my dad.

Thank you for your review, I will pass this on to the staff team. They are a very strong team but certainly have been amazing over the last couple of years and I am very proud of them.

Mum is now 98 and has been at Westbury Grange for four years. Throughout my mother's time at Westbury Grange, the care and attention given by the friendly staff at all levels have been first class and she is always treated with dignity. Food is freshly prepared on-site with several choices for all meals and portions to suit individual needs. There are ample and varied activities provided and residents are encouraged to attend as many as possible. Music themed activities are very popular.
The flexibility, hard work and dedication shown by all staff during the recent protracted and demanding Covid pandemic are to be highly commended.

I will not hesitate to recommend Westbury Grange to anyone who is contemplating placing a relative in their care.

My mum has been at Westbury since May 2021 when her dementia worsened and we could no longer care for her at home. The staff have been so caring towards Mum and the extended family. As a result of Covid, it has been a tricky time but my brothers and I have felt Mum has always been cared for and has been surrounded by love and plenty of activities to keep her stimulated and interested in life. A huge thank you to everyone.

Mum seems happy and settled here. The activities are really good and Mum likes to join in. She says the food is good and all the staff are very nice. Unfortunately with the visiting restrictions due to Covid, which have been in place since Mum came to the home back in July, I feel I haven't really had the opportunity to get the full experience of the home or had the opportunity to get to know the staff, but from what I have seen so far I'm happy that Mum is receiving a good standard of care.

Thank you for taking the time to review Westbury Grange. We appreciate how difficult it must be with the restrictions that are still in place, we hope it won't be too long before we can all get together again.

I am happy with the care my mum receives. As visiting has been limited during the pandemic perhaps general updates about Mum could have been provided to the family. However, I appreciate that it has been very difficult for those running and working in care homes during the pandemic. Specific issues about Mum such as falls and being ill the family were promptly notified about.

Reply from Julie Roche, Home Manager at Westbury Grange

Thank you so much for the review, you are always welcome to call the home for updates on Mum's daily activities. Either the nurse or the activity coordinator would be more than happy to speak with you.

The staff have worked really hard during the past two years to look after Mum, she has received excellent care. The care staff have gone out of their way to build a relationship with her and I know she counts many of them as friends. They have gone above and beyond their jobs, for instance, one member of the care staff even took items of my mum's clothes home to alter in her own time so they fitted her better.
The management and staff have kept me up to date on the latest Covid visiting protocols and guided me through all the testing hoops we have to jump through to arrange visits. Any time there has been an issue regarding Mum's health or wellbeing they have contacted me to discuss the issue.

I am very grateful for the outstanding care Mum has received from the management and members of staff at Westbury Grange under what must have been the most challenging of circumstances.

My Mum came into Westbury Grange initially for emergency respite care. Due to Covid, it has been very hard not to be able to hug her and be with her but we can see that she is well and calm. She tells us that she likes the food and the carers are very kind and patient. She has plenty of company which she had been missing and she has made some friends. We have also been reassured by our contact with the Manager of the home and the Senior Care Staff who are both professional and very human in their approach. Staff have facilitated video calls with Mum which have helped her and us to cope with this new situation. The Administrator has also been helpful and efficient, responding to requests for information and enabling window visits and now bookings for the indoor visiting pod. We have had to make Mum's stay permanent but we are confident that she is in good hands. We look forward to more normal times when family and friends can visit and when the usual activities are possible once more.

At the outset, on meeting the home's manager I felt my mother would be in good hands. Everyone is so caring. A particular feature is their use of music therapy, in the form of group sessions and 1-1, which was great for mum. And on top of all that: a steady supply of pink wafer biscuits! A wonderful place for her to end her days. Thank you, everyone.

My mother has been on the nursing unit at Wesbury Grange since mid January. She came here after spending a month in hospital from an acute stroke. Prior to this she was a resident in Wesbury Grange on the Dementia Unit. Since my mothers return to Westbury her care has been excellent. She has been treated with dignity and respect in a loving manner. Many of the staff from her old unit still call in to see her providing a family feel. Her symptoms have been dealt with and I am very impressed with the care she has received.

This is a very well organised and run care home.
Clean, welcoming, homely, friendly, a happy place where the management and team really do care.
The staff treated my father as an individual, helping and encouraging him to keep his independence and make his own choices.
He was always treated with respect and dignity and the team went out of their way to make him happy.
The standard of care is outstanding and the care team are a credit to their profession.

My father was only in Westbury for just over 23 weeks when, unfortunately, he died but I cannot thank the management and staff enough for the way they looked after dad and the love, support and compassion they showed us.

My mum was in Westbury for 2 and a half years during which time they encouraged her to join in with activities whilst she was able to do so. Even when she had deteriorated and was bed-bound she was always well looked after. The manager was exceptional in the way she kept us informed of changing circumstances.

I believe that the staff, at all levels, are doing the best they can to care for my father, with compassion, respect and dignity. They have always been accessible and willing to listen and respond appropriately. Despite the high cost of keeping him there, I feel confident that he is as safe and comfortable as he can be with his health and welfare needs and am very grateful to those who are involved with him.

We feel very lucky and blessed that we found a place for mum at Westbury Grange. The success of Westbury Grange is due to the manager and of course her staff. Mum has settled in really well during the almost 7 months she has been cared for at Westbury Grange.

My husband moved into Westbury Grange a couple of months ago.
The management were so helpful and have been ever since and are always seen around the home.
All the staff we have come into contact with are warm and friendly.
Westbury is very clean and homely, and nothing is too much trouble.

My husband has settled in well but this is because of the excellent, very efficient, dignified care he receives and all with a smile.

My mother, who is 95 years old, moved into Westbury Grange 5 months ago. I have been very impressed by the care she has received and the kindness of the staff. The range of activities on offer is very good and this has helped to lift my mother's mood. I would certainly recommend anyone needing nursing care for a relative seriously considering Westbury Grange.

From the moment we first met the home manager, I knew we would be in good hands. The carers and staff are kind, considerate, caring, hard-working, professional individuals who informed us regularly of our mother's health and well being. There isn't anything that is too much trouble. Light, airy and friendly are the words I would use to describe the home. All the rooms are bright and spacious, with communal areas used effectively for company and activities such as singing and pastimes. My family and I are pleased to have found such a homely home.
