My father has dementia and deteriorating health and could no longer be supported in his own home. Within a week of being in the home he appeared happy, clean and supported and showed improvement. Unfortunately he had a fall and was admitted to hospital but is back at the home now. Since he was discharged
on Wednesday he is already looking better. I would happily put myself into this home, they really look after my father.

Thank you for looking after my Father so well in his last month. The staff were wonderful and as well as my Dad, they looked after us when we came to visit. His dog was allowed to visit which made a big difference to him. Everyone was treated with kindness, respect and compassion.

Pleasant atmosphere in Mountbatten wing for both residents and visitors. Excellent occupational choices listed for the residents to enjoy. Respite facilities appear of a high standard. Staff are friendly and residents appear relaxed. Catering feedback is good. Hygiene levels appear good too. Next of
kin of resident able to give more comprehensive feedback than myself.

In the first months of my father's life, he received the most amazing care from the nurses and care team. They treated him with kindness and respect and helped support us in his final days. I cannot thank the nursing team and carers enough for all of their dedication to making my dad's last months comfortable
and giving him love and support at this time.

Mum has been here just over 6 weeks. As a family, we have been pleased with her care so far. She seems to be well looked after in terms of cleanliness and comfort. Communication between staff and family has been good so far. The staff are friendly and attentive. I have noticed a warm welcoming atmosphere.

We are grateful every day for the care Mum receives. This year we were especially touched by the way several carers made a point of telling us how happy they were that Mum was making a good recovery from her hip replacement. It's comforting to know that she is being looked after with such compassion.
As the years pass we are continually impressed by the way you all keep doing such a difficult and stressful job with patience, kindness and respect. Your hard work and dedication is very much appreciated.

We are very impressed with the high quality of care. Our grandad has been to a few homes and this one is the best by far. They spend time with him, do their best to keep him well-fed with nutritious drinks and on his birthday they got him a cake with candles and made his day special. Every staff member
is friendly and helpful. We really appreciate everything they do for our grandad!

The staff are very caring, friendly, compassionate, cheerful and attentive. They engage with each of the residents with the same compassion and always ensure they're clean, tidy and well-nourished. We reviewed several homes before choosing a place for Dad. Admirals Reach looked good then and we've not
been disappointed.

Excellent care. I am writing this review for my Mother who stayed at Admirals Reach for 18 months.
The care and support Mum had been given was exceptional. The management team, office team and care staff that looked after Mum were amazing and supported Mum throughout all her health-related ups and
downs. The activities staff were also brilliant and very supportive to Mum trying to adjust activities to her blind condition, as well as the kitchen staff who really tried their best to accommodate Mum's very strict dietary requirements. If there were any issues the care home manager would meet with Mum and us to resolve them immediately. Mum is very grateful. She has now been transferred to London to be closer to family. We actually tried 3 care homes in Chelmsford. We chose here as we felt it was the most smoothly managed (as much as you can in a home with elderly residents where every day is different), we were listened to and they were very caring. Thank you!

Current Review Score: 9.7 (9.681)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.7 (9.681) out of 10 for Admirals Reach Care Home is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 4.7 out of 5 from 87 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 5.0 out of 5 from 86 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.681 for Admirals Reach Care Home is calculated as follows: ( (750 Excellents x 5) + (264 Goods x 4) + (11 Satisfactorys x 3) + (11 Very Poors x 1) ) ÷ 1036 Ratings = 4.681
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 5 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Admirals Reach Care Home is based on 86 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 20 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews, 0.05 Points for the next five Positive Reviews, and finally 0.025 Points for the next ten Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.050, 7th = 0.050, 8th = 0.050, 9th = 0.050, 10th = 0.050, 11th = 0.025, 12th = 0.025, 13th = 0.025, 14th = 0.025, 15th = 0.025, 16th = 0.025, 17th = 0.025, 18th = 0.025, 19th = 0.025, 20th = 0.025) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 = 4
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 158 registered maximum number of service users is 31.6, which has been reached with 86 Positive reviews. Points = 1
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
