Admirals Reach caters for a wide range of short or long-term care needs. Its areas of expertise include residential, nursing, nursing dementia, respite, convalescence and palliative care.

Its modern yet homely interior includes well-furnished lounges, spacious rooms and dining areas as well as a conservatory. Arranged in five separate houses, four of these provide dementia care and one provides residential care.

When it comes to food and nutrition, Admirals Reach look to make sure all residents are satisfied as regards personal preferences and serve tempting and healthy meals. Only fresh ingredients are used and hot and cold dishes, as well as light alternatives, are always available.

A full range of activities and events are provided including gardening, outings and religious services. Visitors are also welcomed at any time of day or night, subject to the resident’s agreement.

My father has been in Admirals Reach for over 3 years, I visit him at least twice a week. The nursing and care he receives is of the highest standards and is always delivered with respect, understanding and dignity. We are made to feel welcome at all times and we feel fully involved in his life.

I was very apprehensive about my husband going into a care home, but am so pleased with his treatment he has received in Admirals Reach. He is clean and well fed. His room is comfortable and homely. Also, I am treated with courtesy and friendliness when I visit.

Well, my husband is in his fifth year of being in this fantastic home, he looks really well at the moment and hopefully is content. Overall very pleased with the care Mum receives. We feel Mum is as good as she can be. The staff are very friendly and have a good rapport with all residents. Staff do seem to have too much paperwork to do and it would be good if they were free of it to offer more care and communication to residents.

Thank you for your kind comments regarding the care of your Mother and the Staff at the Home. The Nurses and carers have a legal responsibility to complete their records on each shift to ensure the safety of our Residents and themselves. I can, however, reassure you that we have the correct staffing on each unit.

It is about independence - that 's the first impression and they help in maintaining your own standards just like home. This is what is highly inviting. Yes, independence that's the key - remarks can tell you this and by walking around the premises what do you see? Everyone doing their own thing all inspired by dreams of their own by making one big company. There you have it, independence in your hands.

The nursing staff are very efficient and quick to spot any changes in you, they are also very friendly, just like a friend. The care workers are efficient and friendly, never once complaining about anything. The place is clean and well presented with lovely garden and activity staff that organise many things to participate with if you wish. Your room is treated as if your room was at home.

I am impressed by the caring attitude of the staff and the social atmosphere in The Mountbatten House Unit. Also, the arrangement for serving meals is very nice and creates a convivial mealtime atmosphere. The meals are in general very good.

The standard of care that our Mum received whilst a resident of Jellicoe House in Admirals Reach, a dementia unit, was exemplary.

Each member of the multidisciplinary team; qualified nursing staff, care assistants, activity leaders, cleaning, laundry and catering staff strived to see mum as the individual that she was and to care for her accordingly.

After having taken mum out for a ride/walk, getting her back in was never a problem as the staff understood that a fresh cup of tea and some biscuits always worked wonders!

The regular visit of the GP from the local practice was reassuring and valued as was their support after Mum's death on the 17th February.

The atmosphere that pervaded the unit was one of love and compassion, fun and laughter and in no time mum's family had a host of new friends in the staff there supporting us through the night and into the early morning as mum passed peacefully away.

A very caring environment but quite a high turnover of staff.
Temporary staff used frequently and don't have the resident familiarity of the permanent staff.

Thank you for your review. Regular agency staff are being used currently while recruitment is underway to fill the Care Assistant roles. Agency staff are working alongside permanent staff in the unit and this is being closely monitored by the unit manager and management team to ensure the safety of our Residents.

Such a lovely care home. In the three months that Dad was there he was treated with such care and understanding from all staff and nothing was too much trouble. I would thoroughly recommend this care home.

My mum has been a resident of Benbow House for the past 3 years. The care she has received has always been excellent, the carers are always attentive to all residents' needs, even at difficult times. The home provides entertainment and events. I cannot name any individual carer as all staff go beyond in their daily duties to look after the residents.

My father was a resident for 4 years in Jellicoe House. The staff were wonderful from day 1 when he came in with a new dementia diagnosis through his descent into late-stage dementia and death. They were professional but caring and compassionate throughout the difficult process.

During my numerous visits I had the opportunity to observe their unswerving dedication and love towards their patients. My family and I are truly grateful for the excellent standard of care Dad received.

The process of booking was very professional and helpful in every way. The experience of the staff enabled mum to settle very quickly and made mum feel at home.
She enjoyed the experience of meeting other people which overall added to her enjoyment.
We are very grateful to all of the staff in the way they looked after her.

Mum is staying at Admiral's Reach for a weeks respite.

The staff at Mountbatten House were very caring, kind and helpful during the last few years of my mother's very long life.
They treated her like family, celebrated her birthdays and helped to make my regular phone connections from the USA when Mum could no longer hold or manage a telephone.

My 98-year-old mother was moved into the care home on 24th August 2017.
We are very pleased with all aspects of the home - accommodation, facilities and care provided.

We moved my Uncle to Admirals Reach after the sad loss of his wife. They have all made every effort to make his transition a positive one. During our visits, we have enjoyed charity walks. Singing, dancing, afternoon tea. Having dementia can be frightening for all involved, the sufferer and family too. However, this home has made life much easier and enjoyable for us all.

Whenever I visit my father in Benbow House, staff are always welcoming and friendly. They appear to know the residents very well, are always interacting, engaging with residents and families. My father always looks well and well presented. Staff are very accommodating when asked for anything and take their job roles seriously. There is always a very calm feeling on Benbow House and I have never had cause for concern or any need to complain. Keep up the lovely work that you all do.

My husband has been here since August 2016. Prior to being a resident, my husband was continually having bouts of urine infections and hallucinations and he was very unstable with Parkinsons Disease and Dementia. However, since being in the home, he has become far more stable and speaking personally, my own well-being has improved as the stress and worry has been taken off of me. The home has been excellent, the staff have been excellent and my husband has settled in very well. The menus are very well balanced and varied and I have noticed that all staff check to make sure that each person eats adequate amounts. Should my husband have a medical concern, it is dealt with and referred to the doctor. All in all I am very satisfied at Admirals Reach and Benbow House that my husband is in.

This was my father's first experience in a residential care home. He stayed for 3nights and commented the following.
'I couldn't fault Admirals Reach, the staff were excellent in all ways and made me feel comfortable. It could be said it was like a home from home. The food was excellent, plenty of it with a good choice. My room was very comfortable, clean and had a pleasant outlook on the grassy square.
The communial areas were perfect and there was freedom of choice as to where to sit/watch TV.

A very happy and caring home. Resident's needs always adhered to. The staff are always ready to help and look after relative's needs as well as residents. The food is plentiful and good and nicely presented. Activities varied as much as possible in all a very caring home with caring staff. The only setback is lack of domestics but when domestic present, the whole Admirals Reach set up is second to none.

Mum went into the care home 2nd February 2017 and we were very happy with the welcome and care that we received during her short stay with them as she sadly died on 12th February. However short her time at the home, she was always treated with respect and genuine concern for her well-being. Staff went out of their way to ensure that mum had everything that she needed and settled in quickly. Her last days were happy ones and she died peacefully with caring staff around her. As a family, we highly recommend this home. The staff in the dementia unit are exceptional in what they do and we are so thankful to them all. On a practical note, the rooms are of a good quality and the whole place is very clean. The food was excellent and mum was happy eating properly for the first time in ages. There is so much publicity about poor care in homes but Admirals Reach is an exception to this and I can happily recommend that you visit for yourself.

We found ourselves not being able to transfer mum within her flat. Admirals Reach responded immediately and assessed mum within the hour and mum commenced her short term stay two and a half hours later. The short term respite stays entitled us to get different equipment into mum's home enabling her to return safely five days later. The standard of care during mum's stay was excellent.

My dad came in for respite after being in hospital for seven weeks to help get stronger ready to go home. Unfortunately, he had a chest infection which took two lots of antibiotics to get over so this has slowed his recovery. But he is stronger now and going home on Saturday.
He has had a good relationship with staff but he is looking forward to being at home again with his wife. The nurse has made a particular affect on dad which he said has helped him quite a lot.

My mother is well cared for - plenty of food, warm and kept safe. She has dementia but they look after her well playing her music which she likes. They do various activities all week. The staff are very friendly and look after her well, and are very happy and cheerful as part of their daily routine. The staff phone me with any concerns they may have with my mother.

Staff at Mountbatten House are always caring and friendly. They worked hard to help my father settle in as he has difficulties adjusting at first, especially overnight when there are less staff around. he enjoys his meals at Mountbatten House, especially lunch time and the puddings.

Unfortunately, my mother-in-law has little appetite for the food offered and has a very weak voice since her stroke and is reluctant to ask for help/alternative food. Sometimes she feels the night staff are reluctant to help when she buzzes during the night (she feels they have little time for her) Bearing in mind she is self-funding and the fees increased £100 a week this year to £950 she feels perhaps she is entitled to ask for help in the night (i.e. to change her or to say why someone else is shouting) Perhaps re-education of night staff would help.

I am happy to be in Nelson House because the care is good, staff treat me with dignity and respect at all times. I always have food of my choice. The environment in my room is clean. My clothes are washed when dirty. I feel good to be with the other residents compares to my house on my own. My relatives are allowed to come and see me any time of the day.

My husband has been in Jellico House since December 2015 and the staff have always been caring and kind. The room is very comfortable and clean and the food is excellent.

My mother is a vulnerable client requiring total nursing care. All elements of care are achieved. Mum's dignity and safety are cared for by professional/friendly staff. I am able to openly discuss any aspect of mums care and I feel my concerns would be acted upon. The food is good. Laundry very efficient/diligent. Activities cover all aspects of clients differing needs. Management open and visible. I am very happy for mum to stay here and a friendly place for me to visit.

I'm treated with dignity, definitely. I wish my hand basin was nearer to my toilet. The food is excellent. You can't beat that.

It seems a friendly place and my mum has settled in well. She likes sitting in the lounge during the day and watching television in her room in the evening. She enjoys the activities especially the Queen's birthday party. She is happy to be included in some of the outings such as lunch out. Residents clothes are kept clean. The food is good. Sometimes she feels it's a long time till they get her up in the morning as she needs the toilet. During the day sometimes needs to go to the toilet but as her voice is very quiet cannot always get staff attention. She would like to see lounge/conservatory carpet hoovered more and also her bathroom.

I like the food here, meals are very good. I enjoy all food, has lots of variety. I like my room very much. I'm treated with dignity and respect at all times. Staff are always busy doing something or other they look after others too and are kind to them. I like the activities here, like bingo, quiz games and group discussions.

Mum has received good care from a caring staff since coming to Jellicoe House. The atmosphere is warm and welcoming from the cheerful and friendly staff.

Everybody is very kind here they always ask me whether to join in activities. They put up with me and my visitors. Overall I'm very pleased to be here and I would love to come back to your house, as my daughter is going away for a few months, I'd love to come in, if you've got any rooms available.

My father was transferred to Admirals Reach from another care home as they had removed the nursing care. He has soon settled in, and I find the staff very kind and go the extra mile in the care of my father and the other residents.

I have been here nearly 14 months, I am satisfied with the overall standard, care/support, treated with dignity, staff, management, rooms, facilities, cleanliness, food and drink and good safety/security and value for money.
Lately I am very pleased with my new garden. Thank you to the activities team for fulfilling my wishes, and help me to spend more time outdoors and fresh air while I am living in this nursing home, and I shall continue to look after my new garden as long as I am able to do so.

Staff are kind, patient, attentive. They are flexible enough to allow my father to visit daily (usually for most of the day) and to involve himself in the day to day care of my mother. They are also attentive of his needs (he is 84 years old) which is well beyond the call of duty. They genuinely enjoy working with my mother(and father) and are the chief asset of the home! Well done!!!
Also we were impressed with the overall look of the home and facilities. Rooms are very nice, attractive gardens, even solar panels!
Food is of a high standard and seems constantly available (tea, coffee, fruit, biscuits). Congratulations to all involved. Keep it up!!

Mum has been in the home for 3 weeks and is being cared for in a kind and professional way. The family are pleased with the way mum is being cared for and in our opinion she has improved since she has been in the lounge area. We cannot thank the staff enough for the support that is being given to mum.
