My dad came to Admirals Reach in July 2023. Our first impressions were very good and the staff recognised his needs and ways immediately and worked extremely hard with him. All staff are so helpful, and friendly and liaise with us to keep us informed. We are so happy!

My dad was transferred to Admirals Reach Care Home in the summer of 2023 and as a family, we couldn't be happier with the care he is receiving. All of the staff are very attentive and work extremely hard to ensure all residents are happy and healthy. My dad has settled very well and the staff got to
know his needs and ways very quickly and liaised with the family at all times. We are so pleased with all aspects of care, friendliness and respect shown to my dad.

Mum has only recently at Admirals Reach Care Home - everyone has worked extremely hard to make her feel at home and settled and have worked with myself and my brother and sister to ensure that her needs are met but most importantly that she is seen as an individual and a valued member of the community.
The whole staff team have made what might have been a difficult transition much easier for Mum. Thank you.

Came in to see my friend who at 11 am hasn't been washed, no one came in to see how is he since 6.30 am. Staff sitting in the lounge doing nothing, all dirty, and my friend wasn't washed till the afternoon that day. Nobody even came to help him get out of the bed. It's ridiculous, the only person who
was nice and helpful was the receptionist.

Regarding our colleagues, we will be convening a meeting to discuss and incorporate any valuable lessons learned from your feedback.

Incredible and supportive staff through the final months of my mothers life and before. Mum was always very vocal with how happy she was here, with a nearly 10 year stay before her passing.

My mother had some very mistaken ideas of a care home, largely from seeing the odd bad one on TV. Due to mobility issues, she finally needed 24/7 care and our social worker helped us to choose a care home. Thankfully, we chose Admirals Reach Care Home and cannot speak highly enough of the care Mum is
receiving, she constantly thanks us and on our visit, rates the excellent food, the cleanliness, the social atmosphere and the patience and genuine care of all the staff and the security she now enjoys.

Nothing is too much trouble for the caring staff at Nelson House - they really know their residents' personalities and adapt their care according to the needs of each person. Family members are welcomed and there is a friendly, calm and patient feel as you step into the home.
I haven't had enough
experience to rate food and drink and activities.

My mum was a resident at Admirals Reach for the last few weeks of her life. She was incredibly well cared for by every member of the team. The staff are truly amazing and care so much for the residents and their families. My mum was bed bound and was treated with so much respect and dignity, nothing
was too much trouble. My dad was in a different care home before he passed which we thought was really good but Admirals Reach is a different level.
Myself, my husband and my brother stayed with my mum for the last 27 hours of her life as we wanted to be with her at the end. We were offered drinks and food and plenty of hugs at this awful time, we felt like one big family. We cannot thank the amazing staff enough for helping us through this awful time.

Mum was moved from another care home in May 2023 as she needed more support. We cannot fault the care Mum has been receiving at Admirals Reach. The staff are brilliant with her and work very hard to ensure she is looked after properly. We've gone from feeling like we had to visit every day at the other
care home to feeling confident she is well cared for, so we can rest well knowing she is ok. We are very grateful to the staff at Admirals Reach for their excellent caregiving, as watching our loved one deteriorate is difficult and upsetting enough, but Admirals Reach made it that little bit easier to cope with.

I have to say I have been to many care homes as I am a visitor for my church and this is the very best one I have ever been in. The care is amazing and I love the little badges "Show love" and "Be kind" and you certainly do! Keep up the amazing work! Very well done!

Mum has been treated with care, dignity and respect since being here. Nothing is too much trouble. Mum has gained weight too. Seems a lot happier and mixing with other residents and the way she's treated makes me so happy. Mum's every need is catered for. I'm so happy we found this home as her last
one was bad. Have seen such a difference, since she's been here, for the best.

As my mum's dementia progressed she needed more day-to-day personal hygiene care. Admirals Reach was able to provide this care and more. Mum has settled well here and our visits are always of a positive nature. Their ethos of gathering all the residents together in the day room has helped with her interaction
with the other residents and visiting family and friends.

Current Review Score: 9.7 (9.663)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.7 (9.663) out of 10 for Admirals Reach Care Home is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 4.7 out of 5 from 83 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 5.0 out of 5 from 82 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.663 for Admirals Reach Care Home is calculated as follows: ( (694 Excellents x 5) + (272 Goods x 4) + (8 Satisfactorys x 3) + (11 Very Poors x 1) ) ÷ 985 Ratings = 4.663
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 5 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Admirals Reach Care Home is based on 82 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 20 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews, 0.05 Points for the next five Positive Reviews, and finally 0.025 Points for the next ten Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.050, 7th = 0.050, 8th = 0.050, 9th = 0.050, 10th = 0.050, 11th = 0.025, 12th = 0.025, 13th = 0.025, 14th = 0.025, 15th = 0.025, 16th = 0.025, 17th = 0.025, 18th = 0.025, 19th = 0.025, 20th = 0.025) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 = 4
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 158 registered maximum number of service users is 31.6, which has been reached with 82 Positive reviews. Points = 1
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
