Sadly Mum passed away on 4th August after a short stay in hospital. But I just want to give a big shout-out to all the lovely staff at Nelson Community, Admiral's Reach, and one of the ladies in the office for being so helpful.
Mum went into the care home in September 2023 for respite care and loved being there so much that she asked to stay.
The care home is very well appointed, it's clean, and looks very homely. The staff are very professional and very caring, I can't fault the care Mum has received during her stay. There are also regular activities for anyone who wishes to join in.

To anyone looking to find a care home for a family member, I would fully recommend Admiral's Reach.

Reply from Clare Sheehan, Careline Advisor at Admirals Reach Care Home

As hard as it is to see my dad the way he is, I can honestly say when I leave him I know he is being taken care of. You hear of all the horror stories in some places but there's never been an incident or a concern with my father.

My Father in law has been a resident here for about 19 months and settled in well now and seems quite comfortable. His highlight of the day are his meals which always look very nice and generally never wastes. Overall I think the family are quite happy with his care. The staff are friendly and helpful, thank you!

Mum moved into Admirals Reach from another care home in another area approx 4 weeks ago. The difference in her well-being has been unbelievable.
She is now happy, content and taking an interest in life.
She has nothing but praise for all the staff and loves the food.

Despite being bedbound, the activities team always go to see her and find time to talk to her. There are always staff on hand to discuss Mum's needs.

An excellent staff/client ratio - staff is always pleasant warm and welcoming. Our visits are often unannounced and we are greeted warmly. Our Dad is clean, well-fed, safe, and interacts with all the staff. The grounds are inviting. Any issues are communicated so we always know what's happening with Dad. We would be happy to recommend Admirals Reach to other families. Thank you all for looking after him.

From the moment Mum began her 4 month stay in February 2023 and through her end-of-life care, the team of staff in Jellicoe House treated her with huge dignity, kindness and care. They sought to meet all of her needs and interacted with her with the gentleness she needed. The managers and care team were also very supportive of me and my family. They were always happy to chat through any questions I had and provide regular updates.
I felt very satisfied with our choice of home and it has brought me great comfort to know that Mum was so well looked after.

Thank you so much to Jellicoe House, also to the manager and another particular member of staff in the office who was always happy to help with paperwork. I am grateful to you all.

My uncle received fantastic, warm care for two and a half years at Nelson House at Admirals Reach.
He was well cared for in a loving environment.

He could not have received better care.

I think the entertainment staff are excellent in 'Nelson House'. I was sitting in the lounge and one of the residents was feeling unwell. The lady doing the entertainment went to her aid. Later the resident said the entertainment lady saved her life. Praise indeed!

My dad was transferred to Admirals Reach Care Home in the summer of 2023 and as a family, we couldn't be happier with the care he is receiving. All of the staff are very attentive and work extremely hard to ensure all residents are happy and healthy. My dad has settled very well and the staff got to know his needs and ways very quickly and liaised with the family at all times. We are so pleased with all aspects of care, friendliness and respect shown to my dad.

Mum has only recently at Admirals Reach Care Home - everyone has worked extremely hard to make her feel at home and settled and have worked with myself and my brother and sister to ensure that her needs are met but most importantly that she is seen as an individual and a valued member of the community. The whole staff team have made what might have been a difficult transition much easier for Mum. Thank you.

Came in to see my friend who at 11 am hasn't been washed, no one came in to see how is he since 6.30 am. Staff sitting in the lounge doing nothing, all dirty, and my friend wasn't washed till the afternoon that day. Nobody even came to help him get out of the bed. It's ridiculous, the only person who was nice and helpful was the receptionist.

Thank you for your feedback. We have consulted with the residents, and they have confirmed that they are capable of making decisions about their own personal care. This information is also documented in their personal care plan. The Manager maintains an open-door policy and is more than willing to...

Incredible and supportive staff through the final months of my mothers life and before. Mum was always very vocal with how happy she was here, with a nearly 10 year stay before her passing.

My mother had some very mistaken ideas of a care home, largely from seeing the odd bad one on TV. Due to mobility issues, she finally needed 24/7 care and our social worker helped us to choose a care home. Thankfully, we chose Admirals Reach Care Home and cannot speak highly enough of the care Mum is receiving, she constantly thanks us and on our visit, rates the excellent food, the cleanliness, the social atmosphere and the patience and genuine care of all the staff and the security she now enjoys.

My mum was a resident at Admirals Reach for the last few weeks of her life. She was incredibly well cared for by every member of the team. The staff are truly amazing and care so much for the residents and their families. My mum was bed bound and was treated with so much respect and dignity, nothing was too much trouble. My dad was in a different care home before he passed which we thought was really good but Admirals Reach is a different level.

Myself, my husband and my brother stayed with my mum for the last 27 hours of her life as we wanted to be with her at the end. We were offered drinks and food and plenty of hugs at this awful time, we felt like one big family. We cannot thank the amazing staff enough for helping us through this awful time.
