Over all time Elmcroft Care Home has 48 reviews.
My mother has been a resident of Elmcroft since November 2016. Whilst unsettled at first, she has become accepting of her disabilities albeit sometimes very confused with her dementia. We as a family, are satisfied with the care mum gets. We visit four times a week, so monitor her status very vigorously. The care is good but always could be improved. Carers need to be reminded, it is the residents home, and therefore shouldn't be a 'chore' to look after them. Paperwork is excessive, and more time should be spent with residents.
Very happy with everything at Elmcroft with care, cleanliness, rooms etc. Office staff, management and nurses are exceptional - staff always helpful and pleasant. On occasion though, I have been alone in the lounge full of residents with no staff present.
Food sometimes looks unappealing. Activities are poor - nothing greared towards men. Lack of exercises for all residents is a problem.
We appreciate all comments very much and it is through comments like these that we can improve our service even more. We have been recruiting for activity practitioners to no avail so far and we would endeavour to continue to do so until we have such staff in place.
All of the staff are so friendly and nothing is ever a problem for them.
Good to know our mum is in good hands.
My mum sadly passed away but at peace, with staff there taking care of her. I will always be grateful.
The care home management were very supportive at this hard time.
I would have no hesitation in recommending Elmcroft to anyone.
The manager and his team are doing an excellent job.
Excellent care and attention all round.
It is with the greatest pleasure that I write to tell you about the Elmcroft Care Home in Tolleshunt Major. I came here with my husband who needed respite care having come from hospital for 2 weeks. We have experienced nothing but love, kindness and care from the staff of the whole home, and excellent medical care. We are fortunate enough to be able to stay here permanently as there was a room available for us. We are having to sell our house in order to be here! The manager is the most kindly and understanding manager anyone could wish for. This home is excellently run and we give it 100% markings.
My father has settled into Elmcroft care home better than we hoped. After over 50 years of living in his own house, the decision to place him in a care home was not easy to take but we needn't have worried. Elmscroft has proved to be an exceptional home for him to now reside. Everything about the home has proved perfect - the staff are all lovely, friendly, cheerful yet extremely professional and nothing has been too much trouble. The home itself is all on one level and not too large and is kept spotlessly clean. There is regularly something going on for the residents to partake in. My father's dementia has progressed to a level where his involvement is minimal but even so, rather than being left in his room, on his own, he willingly spends every day in the main lounge with other residents and appears quite contented, leaving us reassured that everything that needs to be done for him is being done.

My name is Diana and I am a Registered Nurse of over 16 years. I joined Elmcroft Care Home in April 2025 as the Deputy Manager.
I've always enjoyed working in care homes because it gives the chance to really get to know the residents and support them in a personal and meaningful way.
I care deeply about making sure everyone feels safe, respected and well looked after. I'm also passionate about supporting the team and helping create a positive and caring environment for both staff and residents.
My favourite part of the day is seeing those I look after laugh.

My name is Julie and I am the Office Manager at Elmcroft Care Home, I joined in 2024 and my role is to meet and greet and help run the business functions of the care home.
I bring many years of experience of administration with me and my favourite part of the day is saying hello to residents in the morning when coming through the door.

My name is Julie and I have worked as an Activities Coordinator for many years and joined Elmcroft in January 25. From the moment I started, I’ve truly loved every minute spent with our wonderful residents—they bring me so much joy every day.
Creating moments of happiness through meaningful activities is the most rewarding part of my role. I’ve developed a bespoke activity programme that is tailored to each resident’s individual interests and needs, ensuring a person-centred approach to care. I always encourage feedback and suggestions so that the activities we offer remain engaging, inclusive, and enjoyable for everyone.
