Dad spent the last five weeks of his life at this home. The staff gave him and us the best service possible - caring, professional, kind and friendly.
In a time of great sadness, we all felt supported and also that they were doing their utmost to provide dignified, respectful care for Dad whilst keeping
a calm and reassuring manner.
Many thanks - we couldn't have asked for more.

My mother has been resident at the home since May 2016. In the early months, we were not overly impressed with the home. However, since that time, things have changed dramatically for the better. The care given now is excellent. The staff are extremely friendly and caring. The meals are of a high standard
and the home has been superbly decorated throughout. At 98 my mother is happy and content and we are tremendously grateful to the staff of the home for their caring support.

We compared The Oaks Care Home to a number of other homes in the area and find them comparable although giving more of a hospital feeling. The rooms are adequate. The staff gave an appearance of always wanting to please but did fall short on some promises. There were problems trying to deal with a very
tricky diet due to renal problems.

After my mum being in hospital for 5 weeks on a busy ward, it was absolutely amazing to see her in a place where she is happy. The staff are amazing and very caring. Nothing is too much trouble. The food is excellent and my mum is always asked if there is anything she fancies when she feels unwell.
It is nice being able to rest at night knowing she is being looked after.

My mum has been here 6 months, she has days when she wants to go home and be like she was before she became ill. Unfortunately, that is not possible. She is well looked after, taken out when possible, taken to appointments and enjoys the activities which she usually does.

My mother only spent a one day as a resident here as we sadly lost her and was on end of life care when she arrived. From the very beginning, all of the staff were nothing less than polite and helpful and above all, thoughtful in their dealings with the family. The room was set up when we arrived and
was very welcoming. I asked if I could stay in my mum's room as I knew she didn't have long and not only did they agree but offered me an empty room if needed. The nurses and staff made my mum comfortable every two hours and made me endless cups of tea and gave me a wonderful breakfast of my choice. Even though we didn't experience anything else in the home I would recommend this home without a doubt for its care and kindness. I lost my mum today and want to thank you all for the kindness and care you showed my mum in her last hours and for the comfort you gave to me in the beginning of my long journey in learning to live without my mum.

My mother was in The Oaks for end of life care. The care that was given to my mother was excellent, all the care given was out of this world by all members of staff.


All the staff were very welcoming on arrival. The home was very bright, clean and comfortable for all the residents with beautiful,

well-kept gardens. There was also plenty of activities going on to keep everyone active and occupied.

Very good 'end of life' care shown recently. Latterly, since last CQC review and refurbishment taken place, The Oaks has seemed better organised and staff friendly and helpful.
I have visited a resident for 5 years and communication and messages are sometimes not that good.
Also not a helpful attitude
of 'can't make someone do what they don't want...' If it has a detrimental effect (i.e. sticking to a specialised diet) or anything in patients best interests.

I and my sister wished to leave positive feedback for the Oaks. Following a short period in hospital as a result of a newly discovered terminal cancer diagnosis (in addition to dementia/alzheimers), our mum was admitted to this home for what turned out to be end of life care. We spent several days here
and the support from staff and the care our mum received was attentive and outstanding. We had no worries leaving her for a little while if we had to leave briefly (unlike the hospital). The facilities were also great. We were allowed to be there with no limits on the use of facilities which was a relief as you don't want to be asking for things every two minutes. Making your own cup of tea or coffee was a boon. Even so, there was never a hint that it was too much trouble to ask the staff for their help or advice. We thank you from the bottom of our hearts for everything you did.

My Dad has only been here for a week but in that week he and I met some lovely, kind, thoughtful and very helpful staff. My Dad enjoyed having a cigarette with a friend he made and enjoyed the routine of the home also. A massive thank you.

Excellent all round, staff are very kind, considerate, compassionate and caring not only to my mum but also to myself. You ring for help and every time it has been answered within 30 seconds to a minute. Staff often around to offer help, bringing food and drinks and always knock before coming into the
room. The staff are always happy to help and service with a smile.
The environment is very well kept, tidy and very tastefully decorated. They also have very specialist equipment on hand to assist mum. If I needed care I would definitely want to be in this care home.

My mother has been a resident at this care home for approximately two and a half years during which time I consider that she has been consistently well looked after. Initially, I experienced communication difficulties with the management of the home which have been thoroughly resolved in recent months
following the changes that have been made. The recent refurbishment is most pleasing. Currently, the (low) number of residents has resulted in possibly above average attention being given to my mother, including a brilliant 105th birthday party, where the management and staff went out of their way to give her a good time.
It is sincerely hoped that this will continue when a full establishment is achieved. I have felt that continuity of staffing had been a problem during the first one and a half years of my mother's residence but this too I feel has been rectified in recent months. I consider that it is necessary for a few more months to elapse and to observe when at full establishment, before a full appreciation of the position can be made. It is a pleasure to visit the home.

This home which is being refurbished tastefully has a homely, happy atmosphere. The staff are very friendly and helpful. My husband who needs twenty-four home nursing care is being well looked after and is already gaining weight after only one week in the Oaks, which must say something about the food!
The garden is very well maintained and has a variety of wildlife.

Excellent care given by nursing and care staff. Also, the social/activities co-ordinator is excellent and encourages residents to join in or spends time with them if they declined.
The home has improved beyond recognition in the last few months regarding the management, also the cleanliness and overall
state of the home.
The rooms have been updated and are now so much brighter and lovely.
