I come here from hospital in August for 8 weeks. When I got there, I could not walk without a frame and with one, I was unsteady but by the end of my stay I could walk around unaided. I was still a little unsteady but it was night and day. The physio team are amazing and are very nice. I looked forward to every session. I also had a meeting every week with the neuro therapist and it was so very helpful. The whole team were incredible - so very kind and nice. I could not have wished to meet a nicer group of people. They have done so much for me and they helped me so much. I am so glad and grateful I got to meet this amazing, compassionate team.
Thank you for your wonderful review of us here at Uplands - we try our very best. I will pass this on to the rest of the team. Thank you.
I arrived at Uplands on 26th July 2022 after an extended hospital stay in Critical Care. Within seconds I was made to feel welcome and I relaxed for the first time in a very long time. I had been incredibly apprehensive about going there but all my fears were allayed. All of the staff were kind, friendly and treated me as an individual. My room was lovely and I was helped to unpack, as I was unable to do it for myself. The next morning I met the physiotherapy team. I was unable to stand, walk, feed myself or do any personal care independently at this point. After 8 weeks of intense physiotherapy with an incredible team, I am able to do so much more independently. The team helped me to regain my dignity, confidence and a lot of my independence. The food at Uplands was fantastic, and even when halfway through my stay I was told I had to follow a gluten-free diet this was no problem at all. If you are offered the opportunity to have rehabilitation at Uplands, take it!
Thank you so much for this lovely review, Claire. We are so pleased to hear your time at Uplands was not only a success in terms of your physiotherapy but also that you enjoyed your stay in general. We wish you the best for the future.
The staff were always happy, professional, willing and able to help. Communication was excellent. My father has a stroke, so this was key. My father received physio, speech and language therapy and medical care. All superb.
Hello Susannah, thank you for the wonderful review of our service.
Extremely helpful staff, stretching and pulling of physiotherapy has helped in enabling me to walk better. Only criticism was food was sometimes served cold. Very helpful staff when getting dressed etc.
Hello Jim, thank you for the lovely review, I am sorry to hear that sometimes you received your meals cold. I will look into this straight away.
My wife was transferred to Uplands from the hospital on 31/01/2022 supposed for a week or so pending a place at a category one NHS rehabilitation unit. Because of delays in the system, this stay was extended to over three months. Throughout this period, she received friendly care from all the staff, who did their best to feel at home as comfortable as possible, giving her impairment and retaining her dignity, which is so important to her mental health. From time to time during her stay, various members of staff went beyond the basic requirements of their jobs to keep up her spirits. This culminated in the Uplands receptionist taking her to her next destination in her own car when organised transport did not turn up. I think this characterises the ethos which prevails in the home. A very big thank you to all.
Good afternoon Thom, thank you for the lovely words. I am glad to hear that you also feel our staff are friendly and there to please whenever they can. I am proud of my staff team here at Uplands.
Uplands has helped me massively in supporting me with both my physical needs and emotional needs. Nothing is too much trouble for any of the staff, day or night. The rooms are comfortable and can be made a home from home. That is the feeling I get a home from home feeling, which helps with the integration back home. I honestly cannot praise the staff or facilities enough.
Hi Sabrina, thank you for your kind words; it means a lot to us, and our aim is exactly how you described your experience.
This is basically a care home. The staff are lovely and that's where it stops. You can't see a counsellor, physio for one hour a day, then nothing. The food is so bad I wouldn't feed it to my dog. They never have a full amount of staff. Who feeds grown adults chicken nuggets and pizza for tea? Mum can't eat a lot of things and got told she was moaning. The rooms are so basic, no blackout blinds or curtains. Not great at all.
Dear Angela, I am sorry that we did not meet your expectations entirely here at Uplands for your Mum. I am glad we just spoke on the phone to discuss this and to give us the opportunity to change and improve our services. I was glad to note that you were entirely satisfied with the care and support...
My daughter has had excellent care. Many thanks for all of Uplands' care and encouragement.
Thank you, we appreciate this lovely review. I will pass on to the team here at Uplands.
Lovely staff, professional team. Dad feels very safe and comfortable here. Excellent physio, speech and language therapy and care.
Good afternoon Ian, Thank you for these kind words, I am proud of our staff team here at Uplands.
I’ve been at Uplands following a long, traumatic hospital admission with Covid and Long Covid. The care I am receiving here is outstanding. I am making progress, regaining some mobility and independence. I am recovering from a very scary life-changing illness. I feel positive and hopeful because of the progress and support at Uplands. The staff are encouraging and caring. The rehabilitation is tailored around my specific goals of independence and I am treated with huge respect. Nothing is too much trouble. It’s a place full of happiness and dedication. I know I will achieve a recovery here because I trust the expertise and they believe in my potential. Feeling hopeful for my future for the first time in 7 months.
Also, as a visitor, I found everyone working at Uplands to be welcoming and helpful whenever I've visited.
The nurses and physiotherapists showed great enthusiasm for the considerable progress my dad made whilst he was in their care.
For me Uplands Rehabilitation Centre was right, as I received all the care required for my condition.
My stay here was excellent the staff were so helpful and friendly. I can only have good things to say about the place.
The staff always very efficient and helpful. The centre is clean and tidy, warm and happy. We both recommend anyone to stay there.
Some staff not very friendly, especially the receptionist by the door. Mum didn't like men watching her in the bathroom. I asked the manager for a reduction on the rates, as both parents had to share a single room but the answer was no.
I apologise on behalf of everyone at Uplands Rehabilitation Centre. Please know that your situation was an exception. As you can see from other reviews, we are known for taking ownership and caring deeply about our patients. We cannot fix the past but you have my personal reassurance that our staff...
I truly couldn't have wished for a better place to stay.

I had a really good time at Uplands and everyone looked after me very well. Lots of thanks to all the staff.
All staff most kind and helpful.

Nothing was too much trouble.
My stay was just two nights.
