At the start of this year, whilst in France with my wife, I had an immediate need to place my wife in a nursing home on repatriate to UK.
Following the superb care given to my mother from 2011 to 2016, Andover Nursing Home was my first choice.
One short call secured a vacant room. 24 hours later
- late at night - my wife was delivered to the home. On arrival my wife knew she was in the right place until I could catch up with her 48 hours later: she was in a warm welcoming location with staff she knew and, importantly, trusted.
In the short time my wife was in the home she was extremely well looked after by a caring and cohesive team of professional staff at all levels. We could not have asked for anything more.
We firmly believe Andover Nursing Home certainly warrants its CQC grading.

My parents have been at the home for the past 8 months and January 2020 was my first visit as I live abroad. My first impression of the home was a warm and welcoming environment with friendly and helpful carers and staff. My parent's rooms were always very clean and tidy. We had lots of family gatherings
in the lounges and even watched a film together. Whenever I needed help nothing ever took more than a couple of minutes. I feel my parents are in the best place they could possibly be and I am extremely grateful to all of the staff for making it so great.

My father was a resident of the Andover Nursing Home for almost three years. During that period he went from requiring limited care in an active community to needing full-time bed care. He died there earlier this month (December 2019). His care in the last few months of his life was exceptional and
every member of the staff treated him with compassion and dignity throughout what for him and them must have been very trying times. He was aware of his circumstances to his last day, and they took the time and effort to engage with him and to enable him to have the best possible quality of life and care that he could have right to the very end. I was deeply touched by all they did for him, and the extra effort they made for him in the very busy routine that is their daily fare. The Andover Nursing Home was the right choice for my Father throughout his time there and I cannot praise the staff from matron to the most junior carer more highly.

Wonderful nursing home from all aspects. My father has settled in superbly and is looking so relaxed and happy. The nursing care is second to none and all the staff are so happy and cheerful. Grateful to have found such a lovely home so close to where I live.

My mother entered Andover Nursing Home in September, following hospitalisation and a short spell at home, during which time it became apparent that she needed a much higher level of care than we, as a family, could provide. We are so glad that we found the Andover Nursing Home, as everyone who came
into contact with my dear mum treated her with such kindness and loving care. Both her mental state and her physical needs were looked after, way beyond the basic requirements necessary. All members of our family were welcomed and treated with sensitivity when it became obvious, that mum was not going to survive.
I do thank them from my heart for providing such a haven at a difficult time.

My father's care has been exceptional over the last two and a half years. He recently passed away and the care and compassion shown to my father and to my family was exceptional. From the front of house staff to the carers and nurses and general staff, the warm welcome and care are exemplary. Nothing is too much trouble. End of care life is well handled and staff are very compassionate.

My mother lived at this care home for 3 and a half years, and in all this time the level of care was outstanding. When she first moved in, Mummy was relatively independent and enjoyed all the activities provided both in house and in day excursions. Sadly her dementia increased and her final 2 years
were spent in the secure unit for her own safety. She was not always an easy resident and could be feisty, but the nursing and care staff were infinitely patient and caring. During her final days I could not have asked for better, tender care of her - I understand from nurses that mouth care is very important in these last stages and I can say she was always cared for wonderfully in this way. All my wishes were carried out to the letter - even to obtaining a priest to administer the last rites - which was very important to both Mummy and I. The staff were always equally caring and supportive to myself and other members of her family - and even attended her funeral service.

Home is clean, professionally run, welcoming staff. Good care provided. The dignity of the residents well maintained. The top floor can be extremely hot. Also, there is no external view from the lobby/lounge. Good range of activities.

Very happy with the care provided to my father.
Staff very professional. Home kept clean. Good variety of activities.
The only negative thing is that the air conditioning on the top floor requires improvement.
The extreme heat does little for residents, staff or visitors.

Thank you for taking the time to review us. As we discussed on the telephone, the windows are now fully functioning which has alleviated the issues regarding temperature during these hotter days. Temperature sensing and retention in our older residents is complex and they do not feel or control the heat in the same way as staff and visitors which is why we do not install air conditioning in every communal space. However, I do appreciate it can be very warm. I am so glad that you are pleased with the care provided to your father as we strive for excellence at every opportunity.

I visit my sister weekly at various different times. I have always found all the staff from the moment I enter the home friendly and welcoming. The facilities are fabulous and my sisters needs are always at the centre of everyone who cares for her. Her room is spacious and comfortable and the communal
areas are lovely. I highly recommend Andover Nursing Home and I feel my sister is in the best home possible.

Highly professional care staff who engage with the residents in a manner that tries to give the best quality of life for them. There is also a full range of activities for residents including visiting entertainers and trips out. The home has recently had its "outstanding" status confirmed by CQC.

My mother's health had been failing for about 2 years and so in February 2019, she moved to a garden room in Andover Nursing Home. We did not know then that her passing was so near (21.5.19). I cannot praise the staff who cared for mum any more, they were compassionate, gentle and loving towards her,
often going way above and beyond what was expected. The standards of care and cleanliness were top class, never any toiletry smells anywhere and always a sea of smiling caring faces. Thank you for making mum's last few months the best they could have been.

I have visited Andover Nursing Home for the last 4 years in which time I have always been greeted courteously and found the staff professional and above all caring to my near relative.
As her dementia took hold and she moved to Danebury Ward the high level of care, genuine guidance and assistance
never wavered. As she died the loving care given to her was superb. The outpouring of genuine sadness and love at her passing was touching. The staff also cared for the grieving relatives sympathetically. The home has seen recent improvements which make it look and feel even nicer.

Louise is supported by a full team of dedicated qualified nurses.
With many years of nursing experience behind her including Practice and Hospital nursing and with her extensive corporate knowledge Louise has built a strong team around her taking the home forward from strength to strength.

Job Title: Deputy Manager

Hamish enjoys the challenges that come with the responsibility for the building, its equipment, Health & Safety, Quality Assurance, Staff Training and as the GSF lead for the home.
Having run his own business overseas for 20 years, he returned to Andover and became the main carer for a friend with cancer. This inspired him into a part-time role as a carer at Andover Nursing Home.

Marianne is from the Philippines, she has been living in the UK for over 18 years and now considers here home.
Having been a nurse for over 20 years her career has focused on elderly care which she has a passion for.
Marianne is a keen international traveller and is slowly working through her bucket list of places to visit, when not at work you can find her in the gym.

Job Title: Sister - Nights

As the night sister Liza ensures each resident has a restful night.
Having worked at the home for over 17 years Liza has had to face a lot of challenges and emergencies as well as life-threatening situations. The skills and knowledge she has gained through these experiences are shared with her colleagues on a daily basis.
Liza lives locally with her family, her husband Romeo also works at the home.

Charlotte

Job Title: Sister - Rooksbury Unit Joined: 2010

Charlotte has been at the home for 15 years. Starting as a care assistant with a desire to study nursing she progressed to Senior carer before starting her nursing studies. Once qualified Charlotte was welcomed back as a staff nurse on her dementia unit. Progressing to Senior Staff Nurse Charlotte was destined for the role as sister when the position became available.
Her enthusiastic professional attitude & commitment is infectious on all of her nursing and care team.

Angela

Angela Rubio

Job Title: Clinical Nurse Manager Joined: 2011

Angela has been at the home for nearly 15 years and has worked her way from Staff Nurse up to Clinical Nurse Manager.
Angela is from Spain, and although she has settled in Andover she loves to travel the world. She is our very own Spanish Hermione Granger, Angela has a passion for all things Harry Potter as well as Mickey Mouse and the Disney Empire.
A keen reader of fiction, Angela has a passion for her job and the home.
