The home has such a lovely, welcoming atmosphere. It is so reassuring to see plenty of happy, helpful staff on duty at all times, especially lots of nurses. The home is always clean, smells fresh and is a pleasure to visit. My mum is so happy here which is a weight off my mind.

The mother-in-law is happy and the staff are very good at looking after her. The room is cleaned every day, is light and airy and my friend enjoys the food. The staff and office are very nice people and will help you if they can. She likes the garden to sit in over the common room.

Generally, the experience of visiting my mother in this care home, and the care she has received over the month of my visit, has been very good. Staff are attentive to my mother's needs and quick to see that they are met. I have noticed over the past two weeks, that the staff have seemed busier and a little stressed. So far this has not affected the standard of care.

Open to me at any time, the reception and management staff are fantastic.
The nurses and carers do a wonderful job giving expert care with kindness and compassion.
The activities department provides a wide range of entertainment in a most caring and kind way.

Convalescing after surgery:- There is a very warm and homely atmosphere at Andover Nursing Home commencing with a friendly welcome at reception which permeates throughout. Commented on by visitors also. I have found all staff kind, caring, respectful and cheerful. To me, a very demanding job is carried out with much hard work and great dedication. These comments also relate to the five months end of life care for my late Husband in 2017.

My husband has been in the nursing home for just over a year now. The care he receives is excellent, the staff are very caring and dedicated to their jobs. Myself and my family are made very welcome at all times. There is always the opportunity to talk to the nurses, who are outstanding, and to the matron/manager of the home. Nothing is too much for the staff to do. As a family, I feel we could not have my husband in a better home. The outstanding CQC award is certainly true.

Management a little dismissive of my opinions and defensive of any suggestions. Overall, despite my Mothers dementia, she appears happy where she is. Carers and nursing staff are very good but volunteers are needed to sit, talk and encourage residents to drink more fluids. The home is always very clean.

Reply from Hamish Mathews, Estates officer at Andover Nursing Home

All opinions and suggestions are gratefully received. The home benefits from 3 full time activities staff however volunteers are always welcome.

Overall Experience

In dealing with the home over 7 months, until my Father's recent death, our family experienced the utmost care, and respect from all staff. We looked at a number of homes but focused on which would deliver the best nursing care, not just an expensive room. Our choice of Andover Nursing Home was, we believe, well judged, as my father received excellent professional and compassionate care from all the nurses and carers, and was treated with great dignity. The demands on these staff are exceptional where dealing with Dementia residents, so realistically the circumstances may not always be perfect, but any concerns were always quickly dealt with, and information requests are taken very seriously including reference to well maintained recorded information. The home has a very positive attitude with residents, through its interpersonal treatment and activities, and is supported by effective leadership. We believe we couldn't have chosen better!

The Andover Nursing Home has looked after my aunt, who is 100 years old, for the past 14 years. Although suffering from dementia, she is looked after with enormous dignity and love. My sister and I visit every week at different times and always receive a lovely welcome from all the staff, both the administration and care staff. If my aunt is unwell the home are very quickly in touch with us. It is a really happy home and my aunt and we nieces are very lucky to have found it.

My Mother lived in the home for 6 years. I am a nurse working with care homes across Hampshire. The staff gave me confidence that Mum was being cared for in a calm, clean and caring. The ethos is on one big family and I truly felt that the staff cared about my Mother and her family.

If your looking for a home from home where your loved one will live and not merely exist I would thoroughly recommend Andover Nursing Home. This for me is the best possible home in the area. The care was so good I also moved my great Aunt to the home for end of life care.
