When you step into Durban House you are made to feel very welcome. All staff are very polite and very caring towards residents, staff and family members. Very friendly atmosphere at all times. Management are always supportive and will always have time for any updates with my dad. Food and drinks are
always available, and the meals are excellent. The staff are very hardworking at all times. I feel happy that my dad is here.

One staff member goes above and beyond for my grandad! He is taken care of! He is happy in Durban house and feels happy here! He enjoys the activities and getting involved! The home have organised an wedding anniversary set up for my great grandparents it looked beautiful!

This care home is a wonderful place, and the staff are incredibly attentive and dedicated. One staff member in particular is amazing, he is always going the extra mile for the residents. The staff are exceptional-patient, kind, and always attentive to the needs of every resident. They treat everyone with dignity and respect, creating a real sense of community and belonging. It's clear that the team doesn't just work here-they truly care.


The home itself is clean, bright, and welcoming,

with comfortable rooms and beautiful communal areas. There are plenty of engaging activities and social events, which have done wonders for residents mood and sense of independence.


Communication with families is excellent too. We always feel informed and involved, and we've never had a concern that wasn't addressed quickly and thoughtfully.

Mum is being looked after very well with lots of patience. She is always nice and clean and the staff are very friendly to us when we visit. We are looking forward to going out in the garden as it now looks all neat and tidy. Would like the chairs wiped down sometime.

Visiting my mum is usually a very good experience as this care staff and management are very friendly. Its nice to see the garden is being maintained well as we like to walk around and sit in the garden when the weather is okay. The cleanliness is good and her room is always tidy. The food always looks
nice and mum usually gets small amounts which is what she likes.

The care my father is currently receiving at Durban House is excellent. The care shown to my father by the team is remarkable given the number of residents they have in their care. I can speak for both my partner, sister and mother whom all visit regularly and nothing is too much trouble for the carers.

I loved the way the staff cared for my dad always tending to him and trying to make him feel safe making him laugh and encouraging to join in activities until he got poorly he was always up and dressed and eating with the others mixing and joining in as best he could the staff put one hundred percent
into the job and did there work with love dad has now passed and I know he had the best care. Thank you Durban House for all your hard work.

My Father-in-law has been at Durban House since May 2024, sadly he died yesterday but I just wanted to thank all the staff for their care, compassion and hard work. It is much appreciated and although he could be a little difficult at times they were so patient and caring and for that I thank them
from the bottom of my heart. My husband and I agree this is by far the best Home he was in and was as happy as he could be. They made him as comfortable as they could in his final days and made us feel he was really cared for.

My friend was transferred to Durban House from another nursing home by his wife, this was because of the lack of care. From what I have observed over the last few visits I have made to Durban House, the staff and level of care are so much better. The staff I have seen show such wonderful compassion
and interest in the residents. I saw a vast improvement in him today; he was much more animated and seemed happier. This was such a joy to see. Thank you to the staff, I know it's not an easy job, but I can see you care for the residents.

My father is so happy, the staff are great. He knows everyone and they make him feel normal if you know what I mean, they treat him as normal. Overall, very pleased with the staff and the kindness shown to residents, the time they give to help each individual. Very clean, warm and welcoming.
Mum is always clean and tidy and well-fed. Daily tea trolleys with cake and fruit are encouraged for residents.

All staff have been caring, friendly and very willing. Mum has been at Durban House for over two years and I have nothing but admiration for the way all staff go about their daily work. They are always so cheerful and there is a very homely atmosphere!

I’m Marie, I qualified as a Registered Nurse in 2006 after studying at Southampton University. Since then, my career has been dedicated to working in elderly care, with a particular focus on acquired brain injuries, dementia, and end of life care. For the past 14 years, I have held management roles within care settings, where my passion has always been to deliver the highest standard of care to individuals who need support at the most vulnerable times in their lives. My goal is to create a true "home from home" environment—where everyone feels safe, respected, and cared for with dignity. I’m fully trained in complex clinical care and take great pride in mentoring and supporting care teams to grow in confidence and deliver exceptional care.
