All staff have been caring, friendly and very willing. Mum has been at Durban House for over two years and I have nothing but admiration for the way all staff go about their daily work. They are always so cheerful and there is a very homely atmosphere!

Very pleased with Mum's care. We receive regular updates for Mum and the home. We used the bistro recently for Mum's birthday, and the family were made to feel welcome, and the home made a cake and the staff sang Happy Birthday.

Thank you for your kind words. We are very pleased we could facilitate the celebration for your mum, and we are proud to be part of her care journey. We look forward to having you back again soon.

My mum has been treated extremely well, and all staff have been so caring both to my mum and her family.

My mum has been extremely ill recently, and her husband has died, but due to Durban House's care and attention, my mum has just started to enjoy life again.

Mum spent nearly 3 years at Durban House. She arrived there during covid which was difficult for all concerned but once she settled in she was very happy there and well treated. The care staff and management were extremely kind and good to her. From my point of view, I was treated very well by all concerned and kept well informed.

At the very end of her life, her care couldn’t have been better and was a great comfort to me and my wife.

I can not thank all the staff at Durban House enough, they are kind, considerate, empathetic and gentle. They have cared for my father impeccably with love and grace. The home has a real sense of calm and warmth. Management staff are also professional, kind and efficient. A special thank you to two staff members in particular, such wonderful people. Many thanks to you all.

I feel my mum is very well looked after at Durban House. The staff are excellent and so very thoughtful and caring. There is a good range of activities for the residents and as a family, we are kept well informed. They have many themed days with the kitchen linking in with the dining options. I would like to thank all the staff a Durban House for their outstanding care.

Mum was at Durban House for six months and sadly passed away on New Year's Eve. I cannot say enough good things about the staff at Durban House. Mum was transferred from another nursing home after a bad stroke in December 2019. Immediately the staff started helping her to do rehab so that she could move better, this is what she very much wanted but hadn’t received at the last nursing home. The two activity ladies are brilliant, they do group activities either in the lounge, the specially equipped room or in the residents' room.
They arranged for her to be seen by the mental health team to confirm her diagnosis of vascular dementia. They were very good at tailoring her medication so that she was not too sleepy but as calm and happy as possible. When she was unhappy they were very kind and could easily calm Mum down.
They were very flexible with visiting so that we could help Mum with her food when we could.

The staff always kept us informed on what was going on.

It is very hard to answer as we were not able to visit the home. I don't know anything about the staff because I can't meet them. I can't answer all of these questions. I'm sure the inside of the home is perfect. The room my wife is in is very nice.

Reply from Janie Wilkins, Home Manager at Durban House Nursing Home

Thank you. We are now able to offer room visits with appropriate PP, this will enable you to both see the inside of the home and to meet some of the staff. We would be happy to book this for you.

Having moved Mum into nursing care following a hospital admission for Covid, we have been thrilled with the level of support and care from the team at Durban House. From the daily care to the entertainment provided and even celebrations laid on by the staff for her birthday the team have always gone above and beyond to ensure the residents are treated with care and dignity. The staff also acted very promptly when Mum required further hospitalisation. I would strongly recommend this nursing home.

My wife had a massive stroke at the end of December 2019. After three months in hospital, the NHS moved her to Andover. In June 2021 we moved her back to Romsey to be near friends and family. As a result of her stroke, her needs are complex, she has vascular dementia. The staff at Durban House are very patient, kind and considerate and we are very pleased with the care she is receiving. The reception staff are very welcoming to visitors and the home has a pleasant atmosphere. My wife has a garden room with a patio which was used frequently during the summer months.

My husband went into Durban House in August and right from the start the staff were kind and caring, making a lot of effort to get to know him and accommodate his needs. His room is spacious with its own patio and feels private and homely. The nurses are always happy to provide updates on his condition and my husband comments on the excellence of the food.

The staff are very helpful and friendly, especially during these very trying circumstances for the last year. Can the lift be reviewed as it seems to be breaking down more frequently, resulting in cancelled visits for the residents on the upper floors.
