Very pleased with Mum's care. We receive regular updates for Mum and the home. We used the bistro recently for Mum's birthday, and the family were made to feel welcome, and the home made a cake and the staff sang Happy Birthday.

My mum has been treated extremely well, and all staff have been so caring both to my mum and her family.
My mum has been extremely ill recently, and her husband has died, but due to Durban House's care and attention, my mum has just started to enjoy life again.

Mum spent nearly 3 years at Durban House. She arrived there during covid which was difficult for all concerned but once she settled in she was very happy there and well treated. The care staff and management were extremely kind and good to her. From my point of view, I was treated very well by all concerned
and kept well informed.
At the very end of her life, her care couldn’t have been better and was a great comfort to me and my wife.

Mum was at Durban House for six months and sadly passed away on New Year's Eve. I cannot say enough good things about the staff at Durban House. Mum was transferred from another nursing home after a bad stroke in December 2019. Immediately the staff started helping her to do rehab so that she could
move better, this is what she very much wanted but hadn’t received at the last nursing home. The two activity ladies are brilliant, they do group activities either in the lounge, the specially equipped room or in the residents' room.
They arranged for her to be seen by the mental health team to confirm her diagnosis of vascular dementia. They were very good at tailoring her medication so that she was not too sleepy but as calm and happy as possible. When she was unhappy they were very kind and could easily calm Mum down.
They were very flexible with visiting so that we could help Mum with her food when we could.
The staff always kept us informed on what was going on.

It is very hard to answer as we were not able to visit the home. I don't know anything about the staff because I can't meet them. I can't answer all of these questions. I'm sure the inside of the home is perfect. The room my wife is in is very nice.

Having moved Mum into nursing care following a hospital admission for Covid, we have been thrilled with the level of support and care from the team at Durban House. From the daily care to the entertainment provided and even celebrations laid on by the staff for her birthday the team have always gone
above and beyond to ensure the residents are treated with care and dignity. The staff also acted very promptly when Mum required further hospitalisation. I would strongly recommend this nursing home.

Good home. The staff are nice and very helpful. Father-in-law is very happy and takes part in the activities. He is well looked after and he loves his visits with family. Home is well run and they keep the family informed on all matters.

My wife had a massive stroke at the end of December 2019. After three months in hospital, the NHS moved her to Andover. In June 2021 we moved her back to Romsey to be near friends and family. As a result of her stroke, her needs are complex, she has vascular dementia. The staff at Durban House are very
patient, kind and considerate and we are very pleased with the care she is receiving. The reception staff are very welcoming to visitors and the home has a pleasant atmosphere. My wife has a garden room with a patio which was used frequently during the summer months.

My husband went into Durban House in August and right from the start the staff were kind and caring, making a lot of effort to get to know him and accommodate his needs. His room is spacious with its own patio and feels private and homely. The nurses are always happy to provide updates on his condition
and my husband comments on the excellence of the food.

The staff are very helpful and friendly, especially during these very trying circumstances for the last year. Can the lift be reviewed as it seems to be breaking down more frequently, resulting in cancelled visits for the residents on the upper floors.

Dad was sent here by the hospital after being very poorly. I didn't know anything about the place but the hospital obviously did and it has proved a very good choice. The staff are truly caring people, not only is Dad kept clean and well-fed he is also kept engaged with his mind. The Staff all do everything
they can to keep him happy which in turn relieves me of a lot of worry, its such a great place I cannot recommend it enough.

I’m Marie, I qualified as a Registered Nurse in 2006 after studying at Southampton University. Since then, my career has been dedicated to working in elderly care, with a particular focus on acquired brain injuries, dementia, and end of life care. For the past 14 years, I have held management roles within care settings, where my passion has always been to deliver the highest standard of care to individuals who need support at the most vulnerable times in their lives. My goal is to create a true "home from home" environment—where everyone feels safe, respected, and cared for with dignity. I’m fully trained in complex clinical care and take great pride in mentoring and supporting care teams to grow in confidence and deliver exceptional care. Whether supporting residents, families, or staff, my approach is always rooted in compassion, professionalism, and a genuine commitment to improving lives.
