They are proud to have two care homes on site: The Manor, residential home, and The Lodge, nursing and dementia nursing home.

The Lodge is a purpose-built nursing home where dedicated nursing team is available 24 hours a day. Experienced staff are passionate about delivering high-quality nursing and residential care, offering an ideal alternative for those who no longer wish, or are unable, to manage at home. Within The Lodge, the Prince of Wales Unit specialises in dementia care, providing an enriching, stimulating, safe environment designed to help every resident thrive while offering families reassurance and peace of mind.

The Queen Elizabeth Unit supports residents with more physical nursing needs, ensuring tailored and compassionate care at all times.

The team would be delighted to show you around.

Overall, I am satisfied with the care my wife receives. She is kept safe, warm and clean. She is well-fed. Staff are always professional and courteous. They responded well to concerns I have raised and they demonstrate care for me as well as my wife. If I have concerns they are in two areas. 1) I believe
that there is a discrepancy in the level of care provided by staff. Some go the extra mile, some just do the basics. 2) I am concerned that my wife spends too much time on her own as she doesn't like the lounge. More frequent visits to her room would help.

Many thanks to all of the staff at Gorseway Park for the care provided to my dad during his assessment period following discharge from hospital. Every effort was made to make him comfortable and to keep him calm for what was a very challenging time for him with his condition. Everyone there was friendly
and approachable to help with any questions.

I have both my parents at Gorseway Nursing Home, they have been treated with care and sensitivity. The staff have responded to any concerns that I may have raised promptly and appropriately. I believe that this is due to the fact that the care staff are well led and all the staff do genuinely care about
the wellbeing of the residents.

The team work really hard to meet Mum's needs and always treat her well. They are good at keeping me informed - making sure that I get emails and also telephone contact, whenever there is anything I should be aware of. The home itself is well laid out and the food provided is a good standard. The grounds
are lovely, with plenty of quiet space as well as communal space. They go to great lengths to provide interesting activities, even mobile farms! They take the safety of their residents very seriously and take appropriate measures to preserve their wellbeing. I'm glad that Mum was able to get a space in this home.

The standard of care has been exemplary. The receptionist, deputy manager and nurses need a special mention, nothing is too much trouble. The initial move into the nursing home was also super efficient and extremely quick as all the stops were pulled out. Thank you.

My sisters and I are very pleased with the care that is provided for our mum. From the time we enter the building the receptionist is very welcoming. All the staff we have found to be caring, respectful and friendly, cannot do enough for Mum. Also, the managers are very approachable. We are very pleased
we chose this home for our mum.

My wife and I are very pleased with the care provided by those at Gorseway Nursing Home. We are always made welcome when we visit; by the receptionists and the staff, we meet on our way to my mother-in-law's room. Any questions I've asked, or concerns I've raised, have been dealt with promptly and professionally.
This is the second nursing home my mother-in-law has lived in and we're so glad that we moved her here. I would have no hesitation in recommending Gorseway Nursing Home to anyone in need of the care they offer.

I was very impressed by the overall care and support offered by Gorseway. My husband was transferred from the hospital for end of life care. The care he received was very professional and dignified; nothing was too much trouble. The food and drinks availability was good and varied, with various diets
catered for. As a progression of condition, my husband became unable to swallow solid food, as a result, a pureed option was always available. I will always be grateful for the last three weeks being his wife again and able to be beside him rather than a carer.

I was recently placed in Gorseway Nursing Home after having a fall and breaking my knee. I spent 10-weeks having excellent first-class care from every member of staff, which has enabled me to make a good recovery and return home. Nothing was ever too much trouble for them. The food was the standard
of a 5-star hotel with special fancy's catered for. I can't thank the wonderful staff enough for their devotion and care to their patients.

My 97-year-old husband has been a resident in Gorseway Nursing Home for 22 months. He seems content and comfortable with his care, which is so important as he can't do anything for himself. The carers are kind and work hard to keep the residents clean and fed. The rooms are a good size, well-furnished
- simply. The windows are floor to ceiling, looking out on a large garden and pond. The rooms are clean. I feel that some of the management should be more involved with residents and get to know their relatives. Food is not good, too dry and seems to have a very low budget limited. My husband needs to be on a soft menu as he has difficulty chewing and swallowing. I have bought this recently to the management. No activities or stimulation.
Reply from Janice West, Registered Manager at Gorseway Park Retirement VillageDear Sue,
Thank you very much for your feedback.
We will look into your concerns about the food.
With regard to activities, we have recently appointed another full-time activity coordinator so there should be a big improvement in this area.

Very soon after arriving at Gorseway from a spell in hospital, my mother started to show signs of improvement and she is now part of the nursing home family. She seems content in her new home and has settled in nicely. The staff are all very friendly and know my mother's needs and likes, they encourage
her to join in and she responds with enthusiasm. We are always welcome when we visit and the staff update us on her progress and wellbeing. Gorseway has lovely gardens which we enjoyed together during the summer months and whenever we can.

Current Review Score: 9.8 (9.757)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.8 (9.757) out of 10 for Gorseway Park Retirement Village is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 4.8 out of 5 from 33 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 5.0 out of 5 from 33 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.757 for Gorseway Park Retirement Village is calculated as follows: ( (308 Excellents x 5) + (64 Goods x 4) + (15 Satisfactorys x 3) ) ÷ 387 Ratings = 4.757
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 5 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Gorseway Park Retirement Village is based on 33 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 20 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews, 0.05 Points for the next five Positive Reviews, and finally 0.025 Points for the next ten Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.050, 7th = 0.050, 8th = 0.050, 9th = 0.050, 10th = 0.050, 11th = 0.025, 12th = 0.025, 13th = 0.025, 14th = 0.025, 15th = 0.025, 16th = 0.025, 17th = 0.025, 18th = 0.025, 19th = 0.025, 20th = 0.025) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 = 4
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 88 registered maximum number of service users is 17.6, which has been reached with 33 Positive reviews. Points = 1
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
