My mum has been a resident of Lavender Lodge for seven years. In that time she was treated with care and kindness.
When she passed away I couldn't have asked for more compassion and kindness from the staff, they were amazing.

Lavender Lodge is an excellent care home. Above all, we felt it was a 'home' and not an institution. All the staff were warm, friendly and loving to the residents and families. The food is first-rate with plenty of snacks and drinks in between. Dad was always clean and smartly presented. All his
clothes were changed and washed every day. He always had his own clothes - everything individually labelled. All the areas - public and Dad's own room - were clean and fresh with no unpleasant smells. The nursing staff were first-rate and gave him wonderful end of life care.

I have found Lavender Lodge to be comfortable and clean at all times. Staff were polite. Staff were always pleased to solve problems from residents.
I have to be honest and admit that small problem,s need addressing fast.
Security, in particular, is poor. No bedroom doors are lockable, windows require
adjustment and rooms regulate heating.
If an emergency arises, it is not possible to summon help. Telephone's are locked in the office.

We feel that we must place our sincere thanks and gratitude for the way Lavender Lodge Care Home staff dealt with the loss of my wife (a wife and mother February 2017). We are aware that many nursing homes smuggle deceased relatives out of the back door, so we greatly appreciate the way in which the
members of staff lined up and attended the 'walk of honour' on the departure of my wife on that day. It was a great act of remembrance by Lavender Lodge Care Home after her two and a half year stay with them and was a great comfort to us that they all took the time to show respect of her passing.

I spent the whole of Christmas day and the evening with my wife in Lavender Lodge, it was a rare occasion when my wife willingly allowed the carers to get her out of bed. Generally, the carers are quite young, but they went smilingly about their work, with an air about them that matched the Christmas
decor, being very attentive to those who can no longer do for themselves, but at the same time keeping a watchful eye on others.
The food on the day was good and an elderly lady on our table remarked, as she was attended to her husband, how much better it is than his last care home.

I simply can not recommend Lavender Lodge highly enough. The worry of finding a loving and caring home from home is huge and Lavender Lodge, it's staff and manager are incredible. They care so much and are always happy and fill the place with smiles, fun and laughter. No matter what your worry - worry
not at Lavender Lodge. We visited mum daily and were always offered drinks and my dad even ate all her meals with her. Amazing place.

My mum broke her hip and my step-dad could no longer cope, so mum was put into Lavender Lodge as she has Alzheimers. I was completely devastated for her to go into the home. All my fears were allayed. The home staff were caring, amazing and made mum so comfortable. Saw to her every need, put themselves
out there at every opportunity and even allowing my step-dad to have his daily meals with mum. We were kept informed of any changes of health and needs. Sadly mum died in an ambulance in the home driveway. They kept the ambulance there until we all kissed and cuddled mum and said our goodbyes to her.
The manager of the home and staff are the best ever.

From the first moment that I walked into Lavender Lodge, I knew this was the place for my beloved. After a spell in hospital, I was told I could no longer care for her as her Alzheimer's deepened and that she would have to go into a residential home.
I was determined to find the right home for her
and Lavender Lodge fitted the bill in every respect.
All the staff were so caring, nothing was too much trouble and this was reflected in the way the residents reacted. The atmosphere was wonderful.

From the outset of my mother-in-law's experience with Lavender Lodge we were in no doubt that it offered the best experience she could be offered anywhere. I could not fault only praise the staff at the way they looked after our resident and also the way family members were treated. A huge thank you
to all the management and staff in helping the final years and the sensitivity upon her death. The remembrance service was the icing on the cake!

I chose this care home for my father - initially for the lovely outside space and view. It has a nice atmosphere, is clean, the food is pretty good and overall - caring staff and very patient.
Speaking as a younger person - I didn't think the residents were stimulated enough. The TV seemed to be on,
but programmes not suited to the resident - like Homes Under the Hammer etc. so residents just fall to sleep. Maybe this is normal but I just feel they lost interest in life and possibly some that were able, could have been encouraged to be more involved with others - playing games etc.

I feel Lavender Lodge, on the whole, has improved a lot in the last year. The overall appearance is welcoming. There are no bad smells anymore. There seems to be more staff, so the residents don't have to wait a long time to be attended to. The staff are always pleasant and chatty. Most of the time
the laundry goes back to the owner, although it does get boiled up on occasions. Overall I am very happy with the care given to my Mum.

Mum was a resident for only a month before sadly passing away, but during her short stay she was treated with dignity kindness and love. No longer able to do anything for herself, the carers looked after her with tenderness and compassion. Staff were always welcoming, friendly and were quick to update
me on how she had been between my visits and to consult with me if they had any concerns. The food was good and menus varied; home-made cakes were especially scrummy!
Residents are provided with a variety of activities, and entertainment, including visits from therapy pets, on a regular basis. Sadly mum's time there was short but it was a happy time and I will always look back with fondness. Thank you to all of you but especially to those on the Jasmine Wing.

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.8 (9.817) out of 10 for Lavender Lodge Care Home - Avery Healthcare is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 4.9 out of 5 from 17 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 4.9 out of 5 from 17 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.892 for Lavender Lodge Care Home - Avery Healthcare is calculated as follows: ( (174 Excellents x 5) + (21 Goods x 4) ) ÷ 195 Ratings = 4.892
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 4.925 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Lavender Lodge Care Home - Avery Healthcare is based on 17 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 20 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews, 0.05 Points for the next five Positive Reviews, and finally 0.025 Points for the next ten Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.050, 7th = 0.050, 8th = 0.050, 9th = 0.050, 10th = 0.050, 11th = 0.025, 12th = 0.025, 13th = 0.025, 14th = 0.025, 15th = 0.025, 16th = 0.025, 17th = 0.025, 18th = 0.025, 19th = 0.025, 20th = 0.025) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 = 3.925
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 66 registered maximum number of service users is 13.2, which has been reached with 17 Positive reviews. Points = 1
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
