Overall Experience

Knellwood has been Mum’s home for nearly three years now and I cannot recommend it highly enough. Every member of staff has a kind, caring and compassionate approach, ensuring a loving, homely and friendly environment for residents and their families. The last few years have been particularly challenging for everybody, but the manager has made every effort to minimise the impact upon those in his care and maintained a focus on their physical and emotional wellbeing regardless. Whether I want to visit Mum, have a chat with her over the phone, or pick her up for a trip out, they are always accommodating and nothing is too much trouble. Knellwood is a fantastic home, in wonderful surroundings with great staff providing a safe and happy environment for its residents. Thank you all so much.

My mum who has been living in Knellwood for the last four years has the most wonderful life I could ever wish for her, the care and the kindness of the staff are second to none, she has so much entertainment and also trips out which she thoroughly enjoys. Mum is not a morning person (she likes to lay in) so she gets up and dresses herself at her leisure, Knellwood wants every resident to treat living there as their home. There is a daily menu outside the dining room for the residents which is lovely for them and nice for relatives to see what choice they have had. I can't thank all the staff enough for the peace of mind I have of Mum living at Knellwood, thank you just doesn't seem enough but Thank you.

This is a lovely caring home. I didn't want my great nanna to go in a home, but now I see how happy she is, I'm glad she is there. She has friends and joins in with the great activities, especially the choir. I worried I wouldn't get to see her because of covid, but Knellwood prioritise visits, they understand the emotional needs of residents and families.

Knellwood is a very happy place where residents are involved in all sorts of activities from singing (a resident's choir) to gardening, pamper days, a wonderful magic table, interesting days out and fun days in.
This week the residents wanted to help the Ukraine appeal and came up with the idea of a Knitathon - Knitting trauma teddies for children affected by the terrible conflict and raising money for the appeal by being sponsored for their efforts.

It has been brilliant, everyone working together and being able to sit and chat, learning new skills from old hands. Life is for living at Knellwood and there is always a warm welcome.

I have been a resident here for early three years. I have a large comfortable room with good facilities which is well maintained. I have a call bell which is answered quite quickly. We have a weekly programme of activities organised by a dedicated staff. The food and drinks are well organised. The caring staff are efficient and friendly.

I have been in this home for nearly seven years and there has been improvement every year until it is now the perfect home. The management and caring staff are most efficient and extremely friendly. Many activities are provided including arts, gardening etc together with the formation of a choir, being run by the two very pleasant and effective staff.

We wrote to Knellwood asking if we could involve my mother-in-law on our son’s wedding day, the response we had was amazing. We arrived to find that Knellwood had provided a reception that was outstanding with decorations, buffet and personalised favours. We were overwhelmed not only with their generosity but with the love and care with which it had been prepared. It was so special for mum and us all as we could watch a recording of the ceremony and celebrate together. Without their extraordinary efforts the day would have been incomplete without our special mum and grandma. Thank you Knellwood for giving us the opportunity to share this treasured memory. We chose Knellwood for mum for the care, freedom of choice and comfort of mum’s new home, this confirmed our choice. A big thanks to all at Knellwood, you are a fantastic team!

Have just returned from a fathers day afternoon tea at Knellwood. What a lovely experience it was. Tea, coffee, cold drinks, beer or wine and delicious little cakes. The hostess was perfect and kept us topped up with drinks and cakes and making sure dad was comfortable. It was so special being able to see dad on father's day so thank you Knellwood for organising it and the hostess for looking after us.

Most important of all, my father-in-law is happy and well cared for in the home. They have specific staff who organise activities for the residents and they go out of their way to make sure that there is always something to keep the residents occupied and entertained. The grounds are beautiful and the home is always clean. The staff are always cheerful and helpful.

I have been a volunteer at Knellwood for approximately a year. I really enjoy helping out and spending time with the residents. The manager and staff go to great lengths to keep residents staff and volunteers safe from covid19. Tested frequently. There are superb measures in place outside the main door that we have to go through before entering. Knellwood management go out of their way to make sure the residents have plenty of things to do to help mental and physical well being. Volunteering at Knellwood is a pure pleasure for me. Thank you Knellwood.

Having lost her husband of 62 years, breaking her hip and contracting COVID in hospital, our poor Mum was in a very sorry state. It was just good luck that Knellwood had a vacancy and were able to take care of her. Three months later, Mum has recovered and celebrated her 90th birthday. The staff at Knellwood have been brilliant in every way offering kindness, understanding and professional help to the whole family. The care, food, activities, information provided to relations and visiting arrangements during such a difficult period has been outstanding, and I can offer nothing but praise to everyone who works there. A heartfelt thank you from the whole family.

Knellwood is an incredible place, more like an all-inclusive family hotel than a care home. The home is clean, comfortable and the staff are respectful and caring. A full programme of activities is provided which has helped my step-mother form new friendships and kept her mind occupied which has been invaluable during both lockdown and the death of my Dad. She is always commenting on how good the food is and this is taken in the beautiful dining room that is always set out with table cloths and flowers and on special occasions flags, balloons and bunting. Recently the staff organised a surprise birthday party for her in the conservatory and we all enjoyed a lovely afternoon tea. The highlight being the look on her face when she saw us. Moments like this especially during the Covid-19 crisis are absolutely priceless, cannot be put into words and only a home that truly cares could make that happen. She now has no worries and can enjoy the time she has left and we know that she is safe.

My main reason for writing this review is to thank all of the lovely staff at Knellwood for making my mum’s birthday such a special one! We had such a lovely time with her in the communication pod and the delicious tea made it all the more special. She told us that she had such a lovely day but it didn’t end there... when she was taken in for tea everyone sang happy birthday to her and she even had a birthday cake, how wonderful. In her words, it was a wonderful day, everyone was so kind and she felt thoroughly spoiled. Thank you Knellwood for not only making mum feel so special but also for giving us precious time with her.

This care home is absolutely the best for care. The staff are so caring and professional. My mother has been at Knellwood for over a year and I cannot fault the way she is cared for, even more so in these challenging times.

I volunteered at Knellwood for 3 months while furloughed from my job, to help during the COVID pandemic.
I wanted to write this review as I was so impressed.
The manager and all the staff care so passionately about the residents and this was evident in the way they looked after them through such a stressful time.
They know them so well and tried to minimalise the impact that the virus was having on them.
They had a strict hygiene regime and the care home is immaculate.
I helped with the cooking and they have a wide variety of choice and use the best ingredients.
Nothing seems too much trouble for the staff and you got a real sense of family.
When the residents were able to move more freely the entertainments manager ensured they had plenty to do in the home and it was lovely to talk to the residents and see how happy they are.
The team in the kitchen know all the likes and dislikes of the residents.

It was a real pleasure to help out there.

My father has been a resident at Knellwood for 6 years. During that time the staff have shown the highest level of care and consideration. Although now 100 years old he is still compos mentis and the staff regularly spend considerable time in conversation with him which he really appreciates being able to relate his experiences. The past few months have been a difficult time but the home has taken all possible measures to clear the home of Covid-19 and to keep it clear whilst at the same time ensuring as far as is humanly possible the mental well-being of the residents - use of skype to maintain contact between residents and family and more recently controlled visits under strict safety precautions. The home has an ample and varied programme of activities which has kept father occupied and interested - in particular, he has gained a reputation for painting and now carries out commissions. The crowning glory was the lengths the home went to make possible a safe party for his 100th birthday.

My Mother was in Knellwood for a very short time of just 3 months before she sadly passed away on 18th March 2020. She was looked after in a marvelously caring and loving way, by the very attentive and efficient staff, who always ensured she was comfortable. The home itself is bright ad clean and always has a very happy atmosphere. Great care home. Great staff.
