Pax Hill is care home set in nine acres of gardens in the picturesque village of Bentley on the border between Surrey and Hampshire. Every room in this unusual circular building has views of the surrounding countryside or central courtyard through low level picture windows.

Each bedroom has large en-suite shower rooms with wheelchair access, electric profiling beds, flat screen television, telephone and access to a broadband internet connection.

Nursing and care staff are on duty 24 hours a day to provide help whatever your care requirements.

Separate, self-contained care areas enable them to provide different types of care and to enable residents to feel comfortable with their surroundings.

Professionals provide general nursing care, palliative care, nursing care for dementia and residential care.

Activity therapists provide a social calendar of events and support to encourage communication and maintenance of an active lifestyle. Alternatively, the gardens provide the perfect place for tranquillity and a spot of gardening.

They are happy to offer respite and short-term care for a few days to a few weeks to cover post-operative recuperation, carers holidays and breaks, or trial visits to see if care home life is suitable for you.

My Aunt has been a resident at Pax Hill Care Home for over 8 years. She is now 102 and not once has she complained about anyone or anything at Pax Hill Care Home. She is very happy- nothing but praise for the staff, food and surroundings. Staff are very supportive and done brilliantly to get through
the pandemic.

My Auntie is currently in a room at Pax Hill Care Home. She has received excellent care from all the staff. Sometimes she is not compliant with personal care, the staff are very aware of her likes and dislikes and treat her with dignity.

Very polite and welcoming. Taken good care during Covid and keen to be as helpful and accommodating as possible while abiding by safety measures. The activities staff are excellent and all the events are well managed. Cleanliness and helpfulness are very good. I've been so pleased that my mother has
a place in such a good care home.

My mother has been a resident at Pax Hill Care Home for a few weeks and my family have been very pleased with her care. The staff are all kind and reassuring especially when she has nightmares. She enjoys the activities and quizzes. My only (small) complaints are (1) there is a loud buzz on the phone
in her room (2) the Sunday church service does not always happen.

I have been a writer all my life - but words cannot describe my gratitude for the loving care the Home has given to both my wife and me. It has been more than superb. My wife was admitted two years ago with a life expectancy of just three months, but the care she has received has helped her survive
- although obviously her Alzheimer's has worsened, physically she now seems to be in a good condition, a wonderful tribute to the skills of the staff in Montgomery Ward. Every single one of the staff has worked hard to make me feel "one of the family", and they put up with my daily queries about my wife's health with a cheerfulness that is inspiring. If I can add one further sample of proof of the worth of the Home - I visited with a friend, an eminent orthopaedic surgeon and his wife who was a noted social worker, and both were in raptures, insisting that of the hundreds of homes they had visited, Pax Hill had to be in the No 1 position! I can add no greater praise than that.

Pax Hill Care Home is a large establishment set in beautiful country surroundings. My experience is of very high standard of care, which other similar care homes should aspire to reach. It is well staffed with trained carers who give high standard of service. Staff are very friendly and efficient. Great
care is taken to protect residents from Covid-19. The food is of good quality ,well cooked and offering a good choice of meals. I was soon on very friendly terms with staff and residents. Residents have en-suite rooms with their own patio doors leading to the garden.

My mother was very happy here. The staff were kind and very attentive, with a wide range of skills to make her stay safe and enjoyable. Nothing was too much trouble and they always had time for her and myself. I am very happy with the care she received and would not hesitate to recommend Pax Hill to
anyone looking for a gentle, fun, caring environment.

My mother's experience of life in Pax Hill has been very positive. She is comfortable in her new environment and importantly feels safe.
Apart from the odd gripe, she gets on well with the care staff. On the odd occasion, she does criticise about the lack of fresh green vegetables on the menu.
From
my point of view, I do get irritated that the door is closed at 5pm each day which gives Pax Hill the feel of an institution rather than a home.

Mum lived at Pax Hill for many years and received excellent care throughout. The facilities are very good and staff continuity is unusually good for this type of establishment.
The food could be better quality (healthier) and more varied in my view. Possibly more off-site trips could be provided but
the on-site activities are regular and attract many residents.

We, the family, are certainly very happy with the care that our father receives at Pax Hill.
He is generally contented and happy although he is becoming more confused.
He often mentions how caring the team are and we hope that he continues much the same for the foreseeable future.

Mum was in Paxhill for 7 weeks on Montgomery floor. She moved from another nursing home. Mum was very well cared for with dignity, patience, kindness and humour. Nearing the end she was kept comfortable and my brother, sister and I were very well supported too. The nurses and carers and activity ladies
are all very professional, friendly and caring. I would highly recommend Pax Hill.

My mum has been at Pax Hill for a few weeks now and is settling in. The staff are all very friendly and engaged and respond to mum's needs efficiently.
The activities are well organised and mum appreciates that she can just sit and watch if she doesn't feel like interacting.
The ambience and the setting
is bright and cheerful with beautiful grounds. Mum's transition into full-time care from independent living has been made much easier with the good care of all at Pax Hill.

Current Review Score: 9.9 (9.879)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.9 (9.879) out of 10 for Pax Hill Care Home is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 4.9 out of 5 from 46 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 5.0 out of 5 from 46 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.879 for Pax Hill Care Home is calculated as follows: ( (484 Excellents x 5) + (54 Goods x 4) + (6 Satisfactorys x 3) ) ÷ 544 Ratings = 4.879
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 5 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Pax Hill Care Home is based on 46 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 20 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews, 0.05 Points for the next five Positive Reviews, and finally 0.025 Points for the next ten Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.050, 7th = 0.050, 8th = 0.050, 9th = 0.050, 10th = 0.050, 11th = 0.025, 12th = 0.025, 13th = 0.025, 14th = 0.025, 15th = 0.025, 16th = 0.025, 17th = 0.025, 18th = 0.025, 19th = 0.025, 20th = 0.025) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 = 4
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 98 registered maximum number of service users is 19.6, which has been reached with 46 Positive reviews. Points = 1
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
