Pax Hill is care home set in nine acres of gardens in the picturesque village of Bentley on the border between Surrey and Hampshire. Every room in this unusual circular building has views of the surrounding countryside or central courtyard through low level picture windows.

Each bedroom has large en-suite shower rooms with wheelchair access, electric profiling beds, flat screen television, telephone and access to a broadband internet connection.

Nursing and care staff are on duty 24 hours a day to provide help whatever your care requirements.

Separate, self-contained care areas enable them to provide different types of care and to enable residents to feel comfortable with their surroundings.

Professionals provide general nursing care, palliative care, nursing care for dementia and residential care.

Activity therapists provide a social calendar of events and support to encourage communication and maintenance of an active lifestyle. Alternatively, the gardens provide the perfect place for tranquillity and a spot of gardening.

They are happy to offer respite and short-term care for a few days to a few weeks to cover post-operative recuperation, carers holidays and breaks, or trial visits to see if care home life is suitable for you.

My stay at Pax Hill for 2 weeks convalescence has been amazing.
The staff are very approachable, friendly and supportive and nothing has been too much trouble.
The atmosphere is quiet and peaceful. The rooms are well equipped and surrounded by beautiful gardens.
The activities are interesting and
the other guests warm and chatty.
I would thoroughly recommend staying here and would like to thank everyone.

I knew straight away that Pax Hill was the perfect place for my Mum when I saw that the staff were hugging family members of residents in the home. In fact, I feel that the staff at Pax Hill became my family too. Not only was the care of my Mum exemplary, the fact that all the staff went out of their
way and took time to find out what interested and stimulated her was really touching. The care and concern shown by the chefs when Mum's appetite diminished and how they did their utmost in regularly consulting me over what they could make for her and how they tried to tempt her with different dishes is indicative to me of the level of care given in the home. Although I was concerned about the deterioration in Mum's health, I never once felt anxious about her care. I knew she was in good hands. And I would like to thank everyone at the care home for their kindness, friendship and support.

My mother moved to Pax Hill in January 2018, following a difficult year in 2017 with 5 stays in hospital. From the outset, the care taken liaising with the hospital and understanding Mums needs was excellent.
The nursing staff, lead by a certain member of staff are second to none, they keep us informed
and involved with Mum's care and spend time with us to ensure they understood her needs, what works and what doesn't for her. The staff have never stopped engaging with her to try and encourage her to join in with the amazing array of entertainment. She now goes regularly which is amazing.

Pax Hill Care Home surpassed all expectations. The quality of care is exceedingly good especially in terms of the kindness and thoughtfulness shown by the caring staff. They all have time to spend with my mother when it's needed and wonderful patience. She is very well looked after and I feel content
that she is with you at Pax Hill.

Most of the time the care is good. Sometimes certain individuals are not so caring. There are some very caring people here. The food is generally good, a variety of dishes; food not always hot enough.
I really enjoy all the activities that are put on for us. The activity coordinator on Montgomery
Ward is brilliant, includes me in everything and goes above and beyond.

I have been in Pax Hill for 18 months and found happiness here and have little to complain about.
I am well looked after, have a lovely room in which I am allowed to have some of my own furniture and enjoy the view and wildlife.

Mum has been at Pax Hill for 6 months. She is well cared for, happy and treated with kindness, dignity and respect. The staff are always relaxed and present. A very positive and happy exterior. I regularly ask Mum if people are kind to her and she says yes. Her room is clean and tidy and her clothes
are clean.hygiene is good - no nasty smells. I am advised if the staff are worried about her.

We are very glad that we found Pax Hill Care Home. It was difficult making the decision that my mum needed to be in a care home. She has been living here for 9 months.
Mum is well looked after in all aspects of her care. There are plenty of permanent care staff who are cheerful and thoughtful. Mum’s
medical needs are supervised by the nursing staff, with whom we have very good relationships.
Activity Coordinators do a superb job. There are a range of activities each week, in the lounge, in the activity room, or when the weather is pleasant, outside.
The cleverly designed, purpose-built home is set in beautiful grounds. The gentle curve of the corridor makes the spacious building feel cosy. Her en-suite bedroom is well equipped and has a gorgeous view. The home is always very clean.
Mum is safely looked after and she is happy. I visit frequently and the visits are enjoyable.
We have to trust someone to look after mum, and I am pleased that we can trust, wholeheartedly, the staff at Pax Hill.

I have been at Pax Hill for two months and have settled in well.
I have found all the staff very caring and friendly and very willing.
I really enjoy all the activities I can attend and the outings that are arranged which means that I do not have to spend a lot of time in my room.
Having friends
and family living close by is, of course, a bonus.
The outlook from my room is beautiful and I love watching the wildlife and being able to sit outside.
I am a little disappointed with the food, always having been used to home cooking.
Very often it is too spicy and peppery and chips with everything.
Also, the desserts taste very artificial and too sweet for someone with diabetes.
I do realise it is difficult cooking for large numbers.

Nothing but high praise for the way my relative’s personal, nursing and social needs have been met. Carers and nurses are professional, understanding and compassionately patient, with relatives' input welcomed.
Activity co-ordinators are talented and imaginative, working tirelessly to: devise outings;
provide a wide variety of diversions and activities; organise seasonal events; and still find time for a one-to-one with residents.
Catering's excellent, with appealing, varied menus and chefs open to suggestions. Everything (including afternoon and residents’ birthday cakes) prepared on site, in pristine modern facilities.
Hygiene standards are high throughout; residents’ bathrooms spotless. Cleaners smart, friendly, and thorough. Decoration/maintenance to highest levels.
Management is approachable and highly effective, regular surveys encourage feedback, shortcomings/suggestions speedily implemented.
An uplifting, reassuring team spirit pervades Pax Hill. It is a very special place.

Current Review Score: 9.9 (9.879)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.9 (9.879) out of 10 for Pax Hill Care Home is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 4.9 out of 5 from 46 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 5.0 out of 5 from 46 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.879 for Pax Hill Care Home is calculated as follows: ( (484 Excellents x 5) + (54 Goods x 4) + (6 Satisfactorys x 3) ) ÷ 544 Ratings = 4.879
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 5 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Pax Hill Care Home is based on 46 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 20 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews, 0.05 Points for the next five Positive Reviews, and finally 0.025 Points for the next ten Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.050, 7th = 0.050, 8th = 0.050, 9th = 0.050, 10th = 0.050, 11th = 0.025, 12th = 0.025, 13th = 0.025, 14th = 0.025, 15th = 0.025, 16th = 0.025, 17th = 0.025, 18th = 0.025, 19th = 0.025, 20th = 0.025) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 = 4
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 98 registered maximum number of service users is 19.6, which has been reached with 46 Positive reviews. Points = 1
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
