I have been visiting weekly for at least the past four years. Staff are always welcoming and provide effective, loving care physically and emotionally and enabling her to attend worship at work weekly. She has been encouraged with activities- the boat trip and trip to see a show at the theatre which was particularly memorable for her. The staff have always ensured that her pain has been well controlled and the palliative care latterly ensured that she didn't have to go to the hospital, remaining at Northlands in a peaceful room sharing hymns, readings and prayers and sharing her smile with all her 'Northland friends'. Grateful thanks to you all.

Mum and I just love this community of caring people, they just keep giving. Their love, support, and dedication is a daily experience since mum moved in five years ago. It's a joy to visit mum and be welcomed into their atmosphere of care and fun. It is a home from home, where mum has her own room with plenty of space for visitors, completely private if that's what we want. Although bedridden and very frail, she is encouraged to enjoy life with humour, singing, beauty treatments and painting. We are extremely grateful to each and everyone, and the open door to the manager if needed.

We enjoy visiting my nan in her own room, it's always a fun experience seeing her interact with the staff (especially her regular carers) and experiencing her daily routine. We have always felt very comfortable taking our boys in to see her so that we can continue having our family time in a relaxing atmosphere. It's nice to see my nan content in such a peaceful, caring home where you can see she is well loved.

My mum has been a resident in care at Northlands for nearly two years and four months, and I can honestly say that myself and my siblings have been most impressed with the care and nursing that mum has received and continues to receive. The Staff and everyone within Northlands Care Home that we have come into contact with and liaise with on a regular basis always show kindness and compassion towards our mum and are very professional in their approach to their individual roles. We know that our mum is very happy at Northlands, which in turn makes us, her family, extremely happy and relaxed knowing that she is in safe hands receiving fantastic care from a great team of professional and caring people and in such a dignified manner. Myself, and on behalf of all my siblings, would like to express our sincerest thanks to everyone at Northlands for the kindness, caring and dedication in looking after our mum and for making our visits enjoyable.

My aunt has been a resident at Northlands for around four years. During this time she has been extremely well cared for by kind and lovely staff. I always see a positive attitude and a willingness to support each other to give her the very best outcome for residents. Activities are well thought out clearly enjoyed which is evidenced in the photos throughout the home. Thank you for treating our relative with such kindness and dignity and for making our visits so enjoyable.

Of three care homes experienced, this was the best. Care and carers were excellent. A shame was the poor food on many days. I did raise this, and there was a slight improvement. I felt very safe and happy in this care home.

The 29th of April was the first visit to my sister since the pandemic started. It was brilliant to see her. Every care was taken to protect my sister from any infection. The protective procedure before entry into the building was very thorough. Although totally bedridden and PEG fed, she looked calm and contented, she understands everything, but her speech is sometimes muddled but was able to reply to questions asked. I thank the staff for their continued care.

There have been issues with food and hot food and drinks. Doors are closed noisily during the night. Sometimes staff about and laugh outside near my door during the early morning around 4:30-6 am. Laundry goes missing and gets discoloured. The staff, on the whole, are fantastic, the manager is amazing. GP is not what he could be.

Excellent carers.
Buzzers can take an extremely long time to be answered.
Food is reasonably good, although not great.
Should have an employee of the month form to fill out as some nurses and carers really stand out.

Sometimes waiting for help can take a long time, I've waited up to an hour before now.

Natasha Randall
Natasha RandallJob Title:Home ManagerJoined: 2022

I have worked at Bupa since 2022. I started in August 2022 as Deputy Manager (Non-Clinical). I become Interim Home Manager in January 2024 and was appointed Home Manager in May 2024.

I have worked in the Health and Social Care sector for the past 16 years. During this time, I have worked within hospital settings, the ambulance service, residential and nursing homes. I have done clinical roles within the ambulance service and then onto operational management and home management roles.

I would say the biggest thing I enjoy most about working in care services is seeing the impact you can have on someone and improving their quality of life. Also, how no day is the same and enjoy every challenge along the way. To support and empower my team to do well and progress.

I live in Southampton, not too far from Northlands House. I live with my partner and 2 children. My children keep me busy outside of work and our Springer spaniel who is now 18 months called Willow.

We enjoy going on holiday abroad when we can – most recently been to Mexico.

Maria Irina (Adelle) Cristinariu
Maria Irina (Adelle) CristinariuJob Title:Clinical Deputy ManagerJoined: 2017

I began working at Bupa as a senior health care assistant, a role I held for nearly three years. After taking a short break to complete my adult nursing degree, I returned to Bupa as a Registered Nurse. Although my background is originally in business — having owned a fast food outlet and a car park in my home country, Romania — I realised I wanted a career that offered deeper fulfilment and personal satisfaction.

In 2016, I decided to leave Romania for a fresh start and moved to Poole, Dorset. This was the first time I was introduced to the concept of care, as nursing homes, as we know them, do not exist in my native country. I learned everything from scratch and quickly became fascinated by the involvement, dedication, and compassion shown by everyone working in care — from housekeeping and kitchen teams to nurses, carers, families, and all other departments.

Working in care means working with people, for people. In this environment, the genuine love for our communities shines through. There are always opportunities to improve and adapt to people’s needs, and I love that when we work together, we see real results.

Working in care fulfils my soul and makes me a better person with every day that passes. Bringing a smile to my residents absolutely makes my day — I’m known for joking a lot!

On a personal note, I have been happily married for 12 years and am the proud mum of a beautiful 9-year-old daughter, Eva. We also have a little Pomeranian called Alma, who you will probably see around me often. I live about a 20-minute drive away (on a good day without traffic!).

Catia Efigenia
Catia EfigeniaJob Title:Deputy ManagerJoined: 2017

My name is Catia an I am the Deputy Manager at Northlands House. I joined Bupa in November 2017 as a care assistant and, over the years, have proudly progressed to senior carer and now deputy manager. I have been in this role since September 2024 and feel incredibly grateful to be part of the Northlands family.

My journey into care began when I moved to England on the 1st April 2016 to work as a live in carer. That experience helped me grow both personally and professionally and sparked my passion for learning more about health and social care. Before moving into the care sector, I spent many years working in banking as a bank teller/cashier and later as a customer account manager. I have always enjoyed helping people, supporting them through challenges, and making a positive difference to their day — values that continue to guide me in my role today.

Throughout my time at Northlands House, I have loved getting to know our residents, listening to their stories, and supporting them to feel comfortable, valued, and happy. Even small actions can make a huge difference, and it brings me joy to help someone smile or feel at ease. Caring for others is truly rewarding, and I am proud of the work we do here as a team.

I live just five minutes away with my partner and our little daughter, who is four years old. Family time is very important to me — we enjoy exploring new towns, driving to the beach at weekends, or going for peaceful walks in the New Forest. In my spare time, I also like to relax, listen to music, and watch TV.

Bethany Fiddler
Bethany FiddlerJob Title:Activities CoordinatorJoined: 2015

I began my career with Bupa in 2015 as a Care Assistant at Northlands House. In 2022, I became an Activities Co-ordinator at the home.

I was inspired to work in the care sector after my Nana moved into a care home. They were so good with her, we knew she was having a lovely time and was so well cared for. I always said I wanted to help people and provide the same reassurance and comfort that my Nana had.

Knowing your loved one is safe and happy is crucial. I also love getting to know people, chatting and hearing people's life stories, which our residents love to do also - so the role is just perfect for me.

My favourite part of the role is all the fun we have. A simple silly moment can lead to real belly laughs. Knowing our residents feel safe and are well cared for is my priority.

I live very local to Northlands House, work is practically on my doorstep.

I started a little book club at the start of this year with my friend where we read a new book every 2 weeks which I’ve been enjoying.

I love listening to music and singing (or trying to!) - I love a good pub quiz, too!

Hollie Fisher-Montgomery
Hollie Fisher-MontgomeryJob Title:Activities CoordinatorJoined: 2019

I joined Bupa in 2019, initially as a housekeeper before moving to my current role in the activities team.

What I enjoy most about working in care services is the feeling of knowing I have made a positive impact on the day to day lives of our residents. Making other people happy brings me a lot of satisfaction, as does working with a brilliant team.

I live in Southampton, not too far from Northlands House with my partner and three daughters. My children keep me busy outside of work. I really enjoy family weekends together and love going on day trips to new places, creating special memories.

Cat Swanborough
Cat SwanboroughJob Title:Receptionist/Activities Co-ordinatorJoined: 2022

I have worked at Northlands House since 2022, and my roles currently include being the Receptionist at the home, and Activities Co-ordinator where I organise and lead activities and events for our residents and their families and friends to attend.

Prior to my role beginning in 2022, I didn't have experience in the care sector. After my Father passed away, I felt inspired by the care he received and I decided I wanted to make a difference in people's lives. Activities coordinator is the perfect role for bringing fun and laughter to someone's day. Seeing our residents smile is what I enjoy most about my job.

I live in Mansbridge with my partner, two step-children and our Cockatiel. I also have a Son who is studying Computer Game Design Programming at a University in Cornwall.

Inga Andersone
Inga AndersoneJob Title:Chef ManagerJoined: 2015

I have worked at Bupa since 2015 and I have been Chef Manager at Northlands House since the start of 2024.

My career at Northlands House began as a Housekeeping Assistant, which progressed to Kitchen Assistant, then Care Assistant to Bank Chef. After 4 years as Bank Chef, I have been promoted to Chef Manager.

Before I joined Northlands House, I worked in the catering and restaurant field. As the lifestyle became too busy for my family life, I wanted to find an opportunity that supported a better work/family balance. When I found the Housekeeping opportunity at Northlands House, I knew it would be perfect and that’s how I started my journey to where I am now.

I enjoy looking after people and making them feel at home, ensuring to promote positive mental and physical wellbeing. I love caring for our residents. Both keep their home clean and tidy but also cook for them. To see their smiles is what I enjoy the most.

I have been married for 18 years, to my lovely husband. We both came to England from Latvia in 2006. We have created our sweet spot in Southampton, Woolston. I love riding my electric bike to work every day which takes me around a 15-minute blast. I love travelling, going to the beach and being in the sun. I love my cat, Neo, who is my fluffy baby.

I most definitely enjoy my job. It is a very rewarding job because every day you do something good for someone. My job feeds my soul for sure. I enjoy life as it is. Living in the moment, appreciating what I have. I enjoy simple things in life.
