Field House warmly welcomes those in need of nursing, residential, short stay care. Residents can stay for a day, a few weeks, a month – however long their loved one needs support. They’ll get to relax and meet new friends, giving you complete peace of mind. The home has a dedicated respite room which can be booked up to a year in advance, staff are happy to accept last-minute requests too.

Field House is an elegant Edwardian residence in a quiet neighbourhood, modernised former private house that has many stylish comforts, such as an oak-panelled lounge, fireplace and an ornate ceiling. Secluded gardens, each with a shady pergola, enable clients to make the most of the summer weather.

Residents have their personal plan in place to ensure their dietary tastes are accounted for, and snacks and refreshments can be enjoyed throughout the day.

There's a great atmosphere and the staff encourage residents to get involved as much as they’d like. To help residents feel at home, they take the time to get to know them. The home can then tailor activities to their interests and hobbies too. From activities such as community quizzes, crafts and flower arranging to tea dances and fetes, there is so much for residents to enjoy.

Being close to the station means some on-street parking restrictions apply but the team will happily issue you a pass.

My Mother has been very weak and poorly during this last month, but the care and attention she has received at the home has been absolutely wonderful. Nothing has been too much trouble for the staff and they have bent over backwards to ensure that she is comfortable, fed with that she would like and
kept a close eye on. We are extremely grateful for all their care and attention. We, (the family), can find no fault with the home or staff.

My father has lived in Field House Care Home for just over a year now. During this time, I have nothing but praise to say about it. The staff have treated him with care, kindness, respect and dignity. They have adapted to his changing care needs involving us closely with all aspects of his care. All
the staff have always been supportive to us as a family and have shown kindness and understanding to my 91-year-old mother when we bring her to visit her husband of 70 years. They have tried their best to make it as much like home as possible.

I came to Field House on 16th January following a week in hospital suffering from pneumonia. What I needed was somewhere quiet where I would be cared for whilst I recovered sufficiently to return home and, with carers, to live in my own home. Field House has met my needs. The staff are friendly and
helpful. The home is very well equipped and comfortable. If I need respite care again I would hope to find a place here.

Needed urgent short-term convalescent care for my mother who was on the point of discharge from hospital after an urgent operation.
The management and staff could not have been more understanding and helpful. Stress levels immediately reduced! The actual care my mother then received was superb. The
atmosphere was truly friendly and welcoming.

It was with the utmost reluctance that we surrendered the care of our dear mother to Field House but advanced stages of Parkinsons and Alzheimers prevented us from continuing to care for her safely at home. We quickly discovered, however, that we had not "abandoned" her, encouraged as we were to visit
as often and for as long as we wished at any time of the day or night. Staff members in all areas (including kitchen, laundry, housekeeping etc) welcomed us, often by name, with bright smiles and friendly comments, thereby empowering us to participate in mum's daily activities as if we were a member of the team.


In contrast to other homes I've visited, carers and management were highly visible and never "huddled" in a corner complaining about their lot.
They genuinely care for the well-being of residents, taking great pains to dress them smartly and ensure a sense of dignity and good-humour. The incredible nursing staff contribute greatly to a sense of consistency, often demonstrating alternative skills to carers. Field House became our "second home" and staff our extended family.

Whenever I visit my father at Field House, I often think that I would like to stay here myself. The residency is always clean and fresh and plenty of staff are on hand to mind and assist the residents, and are always welcoming to those of us who come to visit our loved ones.

My dad came to Field House Care Home in May 2016. After viewing several homes, Field House Care Home was the most homely we found. From the moment we walked into reception, it was welcoming. The staff from management, carers, housekeeping and kitchen were all involved in his care and our care as a family.
It was like we had an extended family.

Field House is on the whole a good home; well run and with many very caring staff who took time to get to know my mother and make her comfortable and meet her needs. Having looked at other homes prior to deciding on Field House, I am satisfied that Field House is amongst the best in the area.
My comment
would be that what is needed is consistency of good service across all staff as this did vary, sometimes not to our liking.
Also good communication is needed as staff didn't always have the same message. Looking back though, I am pleased that we (my wife and I) decided to place my mother in Field House.

I was so relieved to be offered a room for short term recuperation. I had been very ill for over two weeks (chest infection) support at home by rapid response nursing team, lost half a stone in a week (to 6 and a half stone). It was such a change to be looked after, have my meals and generally receive
some TLC.
Food and refreshments available throughout the day and nothing was too much trouble for the carers. They anticipated everyone's needs and were friendly without being patronising. I definitely made the right decision in staying here, it gave me a much-needed stepping stone to my recovery.

Great team and lovely to deal with -- efficient, warm and competent. They put the meaning back in 'care' because that's what you get here, not just provision. Until we found Field House it had been a very long time since my husband had survived respite breaks without having to come home after a few
days or ending up in the hospital, so it's a great resource. We're using regular daycare there too so I get a day off a fortnight to do jobs -- impossible otherwise as he can't do anything for himself or walk or talk and needs someone with him 24 hours a day. He comes home looking well and happy and cheerful, which is priceless. Getting breaks without also juggling guilt and anxiety means I can do my bit better, and continue to enjoy my husband's company, indomitable spirit and flashes of humour. Brilliant!

My Mother was welcomed at Field House Care Home in November 2015, for end of life care. Mum was 98 and had dementia. She came straight from hospital, where doctors gave her only a few weeks to live. At Field House she received top rate professional care and nursing, delivered by all staff with love
and respect.
Mum was bedridden but, at Christmas she was taken in a wheelchair for carols, pantomime and party and Xmas Lunch, which she enjoyed. At Easter, staff made Easter Bonnets for the residents, Mum loved this and with the wonderful care she received she lived for 7 months. I will always be grateful to the Manager and Staff for the extra time the family had with Mum. We were made welcome at any time in a lovely, family atmosphere.
Regular meetings for relatives were held to discuss matters arising. Families were encouraged to attend these and social events. Outings for residents are arranged on a regular basis and arts and crafts are encouraged.
I would highly recommend this Nursing Home.
