A friendly and caring environment where my mum flourished. The staff seemed to genuinely care about mum and her welfare.

Great team and lovely to deal with -- efficient, warm and competent. They put the meaning back in 'care' because that's what you get here, not just provision. Until we found Field House it had been a very long time since my husband had survived respite breaks without having to come home after a few
days or ending up in the hospital, so it's a great resource. We're using regular daycare there too so I get a day off a fortnight to do jobs -- impossible otherwise as he can't do anything for himself or walk or talk and needs someone with him 24 hours a day. He comes home looking well and happy and cheerful, which is priceless. Getting breaks without also juggling guilt and anxiety means I can do my bit better, and continue to enjoy my husband's company, indomitable spirit and flashes of humour. Brilliant!

My Mother was welcomed at Field House Care Home in November 2015, for end of life care. Mum was 98 and had dementia. She came straight from hospital, where doctors gave her only a few weeks to live. At Field House she received top rate professional care and nursing, delivered by all staff with love
and respect.
Mum was bedridden but, at Christmas she was taken in a wheelchair for carols, pantomime and party and Xmas Lunch, which she enjoyed. At Easter, staff made Easter Bonnets for the residents, Mum loved this and with the wonderful care she received she lived for 7 months. I will always be grateful to the Manager and Staff for the extra time the family had with Mum. We were made welcome at any time in a lovely, family atmosphere.
Regular meetings for relatives were held to discuss matters arising. Families were encouraged to attend these and social events. Outings for residents are arranged on a regular basis and arts and crafts are encouraged.
I would highly recommend this Nursing Home.

I find that things at this care home are very pleasant. The staff were very busy and helpful when they could be but very over-worked. The food was very good and tasty but sometimes small portions, but I would recommend this care home.

I had a weeks respite care in this BUPA care home which I enjoyed as I didn't have to do anything. I have severe osteoporosis and arthritis and find it very painful and difficult to do anything. The meals were good and always a choice. If you wanted them in your room OK, if not was taken in a wheelchair
to the dining room. There were activities if you liked every day. My room was pleasant with ensuite. The building was a bit of a maze, though. They grow all their own vegetables, have a pleasant patio garden, nice to sit in if not raining. Plenty of night staff. The manager comes every day to check all is well. Daily papers can be ordered. There is a hairdresser and manicurist if you want. A team of registered nurses. There is an on-site laundry and now I am back home I realise just how good it all was.

I found the home to be very friendly and very efficient. I found the homes attitude to involving residents in activities to be first class but also they were allowed their own space when required. Food was very good and a great deal of thought given to healthy and nourishing meals. A happy feeling by
all staff is ensured residents feel safe and respected and I would sum up by saying it is run as a very friendly, professional home.

When I visited the home I was really impressed. It was homely, well presented and the staff I met were with the clients and not congregated together. The room my mother was given was small with an en-suite she couldn't use. As the home specialised in PD I was hoping she would be encouraged to walk,
unfortunately this didn't happen and she has come home barley able to mobilise. I really felt apart from that she was well cared for and the staff were very good to her.

My father was visibly impressed when he arrived at Field House. He responded so well to all the kind staff. Our father's stay was rather shorter than expected, but the staff could not have done more to make him and indeed us comfortable. We are so grateful that my father was able to spend his last
days in this lovely friendly and homely atmosphere. All procedures at end of life were handled very efficiently.

My partner was a resident at Field House for nine months following several weeks in hospital due to a serious illness. I spent many hours visiting him and found the staff to be thoughtful and caring. Field House has a calm and friendly atmosphere and the food is excellent. Nothing is too much trouble
for the staff, My only criticism, average time to answer the call button was 10 minutes. A shorter response response time would have been appreciated.

My wife was admitted to Field House having been discharged from hospital with a terminal condition. Sadly her stay in the nursing home was shorter than anticipated but the care she received was exemplary. The home was welcoming and friendly and the staff caring, considerate and patient not only with
the resident but also with relatives. She was made as comfortable as her illness would permit and she responded to the care she received, even getting her sense of humour back. We have very good memories of her final weeks and cannot fault Field House in any respect.

I have P of A for a friend that needed somewhere with nursing care, she had very advanced Alzheimers disease and was bedridden, no real speech. I chose Field House because it was a 10 min walk away from me and have never regretted it. My friend was there for 2 years, always so well cared for, clean,
no bed sores, fed and watered well. The staff were so friendly and more importantly loving, nothing was too much trouble.

Our cousin was transferred to Field House after a spell in hospital (rather than returning home). From the start, the manager and her staff were extremely helpful and understanding. They were respectful of his needs and treated him with great kindness. Although initially the arrangement was on a temporary
basis, this was revised to a permanent arrangement when it was clear that he has settled well and was getting much better care than could be provided at home. The standards of cleanliness and of the meals was excellent. All in all, I would recommend Field House, without reservation.

Current Review Score: 8.9 (8.939)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 8.9 (8.939) out of 10 for Field House Care Home is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 4.2 out of 5 from 13 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 4.8 out of 5 from 11 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.164 for Field House Care Home is calculated as follows: ( (65 Excellents x 5) + (57 Goods x 4) + (20 Satisfactorys x 3) + (10 Poors x 2) ) ÷ 152 Ratings = 4.164
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 4.775 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Field House Care Home is based on 11 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 20 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews, 0.05 Points for the next five Positive Reviews, and finally 0.025 Points for the next ten Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.050, 7th = 0.050, 8th = 0.050, 9th = 0.050, 10th = 0.050, 11th = 0.025, 12th = 0.025, 13th = 0.025, 14th = 0.025, 15th = 0.025, 16th = 0.025, 17th = 0.025, 18th = 0.025, 19th = 0.025, 20th = 0.025) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.025 = 3.775
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 35 registered maximum number of service users is 7, which has been reached with 11 Positive reviews. Points = 1
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
