Absolutely disgraceful attitude and treatment from the care staff here.
The management are never available when you need to speak to them and they do not return calls.
I never once spoke to a care staff worker on my mum's "ward" who had even just a minimal grasp of basic Spoken English.
Phone calls
were dropped or mishandled, messages to my mum were not relayed, I could hear screaming in the background of phone calls repeatedly when trying to call my mum.
I would 100% recommend nobody to place their loved ones in the "care" of this business... which seems clearly to be just that... business... and not care.

Last month, we held a lovely party here at my request to celebrate a letter from Her Majesty the Queen expressing gratitude and appreciation for a poem and condolences which I wrote following the death of the late Duke of Edinburgh. Staff and residents here were a wonderful audience for my speech at
the party, and I am so grateful to all concerned. My gratitude must also flow to River Court for attending to my need so well during a recent attack of Covid-19.

Mum came to you from hospital and was very confused. A few days into her stay, she settled down and got back to her baseline. I visited her when I was allowed and thought her room was lovely, with a view over the garden and a tv that she could sit and watch. I felt the food was a bit samey and really
needs to be reviewed. More fresh foods. The staff in Chess were kind and caring, a really nice atmosphere and I was a bit sad when mum left, so thank you very much.

Finding a care home for a loved one is extremely hard especially with Covid on top as well. We have always been well informed about everything that is going on and kept in the communication loop. Our dad has settled in well and the care is exemplary.

My dad moved to River Court in September 2020. We could not be happier with the care that our dad is receiving. He has settled in well and is happy. After a very difficult time, our minds are now at rest and this was the correct decision for Dad. The staff and management are very helpful and give Dad

My brother and I were upset to have, to have made a decision for our mother to go into care but we are both so happy to see Mum in such a good place. She is content and looks better in herself than she has for years, she says how kind the staff are and is fed well and hasn't anything to worry about.
This leaves us as a family with confidence that we made the right decision for her.

I live over 200 miles away and have been unable to visit my mother. The staff are very good at keeping me informed of my mother's condition. My mother has had to go to hospital twice this year and I have been kept informed at every stage. The staff work extremely hard so it is reassuring to know that
my mother is being looked after. The staff are always very friendly and helpful when contacting me to discuss my mother's care.

I have been here for 2 plus weeks. After 3.5 weeks stay the staff saved my life. The manager and care staff at River Court are superb and made me feel welcome and generally cared for with excellent carers. Bedside manner is good. Thank you. I believe in God thank you so very much.

I really like it here. Everyone here is so helpful. It has a lovely chair that everyone likes, so I call it my magic chair. I think of everyone as my family. I have enjoyed my stay and will be sad to leave. Everyone is so kind and helpful.

The management at River Court worked hard to achieve resident status for Mum after a lengthy assessment period in their nursing unit. A brilliantly run and managed home with friendly and genuinely caring staff. Mum's welfare couldn't have been put in the care of a better place. Thanks to all the staff
for their hard work and dedication in these difficult times. A highly impressive organisation. I must remember to visit Mum in her new room from now on!!

I cannot praise the staff at River Court highly enough. My father was a resident here for a number of years until he passed away four years ago. He was consistently well cared for and happy. He particularly enjoyed the banter with the staff and the excellent breakfasts. So, last week when the hospital
decided that my mother could only be discharged to a care home, my brother and I instantly requested that she be admitted to River Court. Can there be more praise for a care home than entrusting it with both parents? The staff have been available to me and very helpful during mum's transfer, taking the time to make sure she is settling in and understands what is happening. Covid restrictions prevent visits, but she sounds calm and relaxed on the phone saying she is being well looked after. From my point of view, it is a great relief to know that she is not upset or scared about the move and that she will be well looked after. Thank you all at River Court.

The staff of Chess House made a very difficult time for our family bearable. My mum was always loved and well cared for, she was there for two years.

My sister has lived in River Court for just over a year now. She has special needs, has difficulty walking, is wheelchair-bound and needs full-time care.
As I live abroad and can only visit her once a year, I rely on the carers and staff of River Court to look after her. I am really satisfied with
the care and support she receives. She is so happy, I sometimes think that her every wish will be granted! My heartfelt thanks to all of you.

Job Title: Home Manager

As Home Manager for River Court Care Home, Cecilia closely shares HC-One’s vision in aiming to provide the kindest care for each and every resident. She extends this caring approach to her colleagues and works closely with them to deliver care and support to residents in a way that they gain the most benefit, in a warm and welcoming home.


Discussing her approach to working in the care sector, Cecilia said:
“It has been my dream to be part of an environment that allows me to help and support those in need or are vulnerable. It is also imperative in the care sector to be patient, caring and a good listener which are all characteristics that I possess, making care work completely natural for me. Over a decade later and I remain truly overjoyed to be part of a rewarding sector!”


“My HC-One name badge says: ‘A good laughter, heals’, which I chose because I believe it’s important to make each other smile and laugh as you never know what someone is dealing with in private.”


When asked what she enjoys most about being a Home Manager, Cecilia remarked:
“Knowing that I am making a positive difference at every opportunity I get is extremely fulfilling.


Cecilia has also achieved much outside of work, with her proudest achievements being supporting less fortunate children with starting and progressing their education in Africa.


Outside of work, Cecilia enjoys spending quality time with her two children, including as she says: “Either travelling across the country, world or simply down the road!”
