Tenterden House provides long and short-stay residential and nursing care. From Parkinson’s, cerebral palsy, MS and other complex and long term conditions, Tenterden House offers care for older people with a wide range of care needs.

Set in 13-acres of beautiful gardens, the home has been skilfully converted to meet residents’ needs without sacrificing any of its Victorian charm. The home offers a warm and homely environment. The home benefits from lots of communal space, indoor and outside space for residents and relatives to enjoy.

Care packages are regularly assessed for developing needs and tailored to palliative, convalescence and respite needs. Working closely with the local hospital, the home also offers a rehabilitation pathway to help improve mobility and independence with visiting occupational therapists and physiotherapists.

They go the extra mile to help residents enjoy their time here. From helping a resident who previously had a stroke to complete a marathon, to putting on social events with their neighbouring Bupa care home, Allington Court.

There’s a real sense of community at the home. The staff work to discover what residents enjoy doing and the home's social calendar is organised around those interests.

I can not thank the team at Tenterden House enough for the incredible care and compassion they showed my husband during his time there. The staff were warm and welcoming and genuinely dedicated to making every day as comfortable and dignified as possible; nothing was ever too much trouble. They treated
him with such kindness and respect. The atmosphere in the home is one of real warmth; it felt like a family. Thank you to everyone who made a very difficult time that much easier.

I cannot thank the staff enough here for making my mothers move to full time care a most friendly and welcoming experience in this most difficult time. So attentive and helpful to the resident and family visitors. They all go out their way to assist and proactively ensure that care is of a very good

Our Dad has been a resident at Tenterden for 22 months after a difficult time following Mum's death, then periods of hospitalisation for an increasing number of falls. Everyone at Tenterden was incredibly helpful and welcoming from the outset. The staff and managers are wonderful, they understand what's
important to Dad and go out of their way to proactively and considerately ensure he is well cared for.


Day to day care and support is well managed with care planning regularly updated with a focus on Dad's needs. His room has an ensuite and facilities are well maintained, with regular cleaning. The Chef has taken the time to understand Dad's preferences. There is emphasis on involvement in activities but recognition that quiet time is also important if preferred. The nursing team have patiently managed and progressed a number of subsequent medical issues.


It is very reassuring to know Dad is being cared for compassionately, in a safe environment, under the supervision of nursing staff

My Mum was admitted to Tenterton House for 6 weeks as she was non weight bearing following a fracture of her femur. They were very accommodating taking her at short notice. Overall we were very pleased with the stay. My Mother did find the mornings frustrating as she is used to getting up and dressed
promptly, but as she required assistance she often was not ready until after 11am.

I was very impressed with the excellent and professional service provided by all the staff there. Although my late mother wasn't able to take advantage of all the facilities during her very short stay there, I am sure that she would have enjoyed them all. I would definitely recommend this location to
anyone thinking about going into a home.

My mum was placed at Tenterden House after a 6 week stay in hospital. From the moment she arrived, she was made to feel comfortable and at home. We as a family were taken very good care of when visiting mum. The staff were excellent, very thoughtful, respectful and caring. Thank you all.

Tenterden House were looking after my father from May 2024 to January 2025 (father passed away 26/1/25). He was very comfortable and happy at the home and all the carers and staff treated him with care and dignity at all times. We felt we formed some lovely relationships with the staff during this time,
and would highly recommend Tenterden House.

I was recommended for my mother to be a resident in Tenterden House, and I am so pleased that I accepted the advice. It is a well-run care home with plenty of staff who are well-trained. The care home is kept spotlessly clean, my mother's room is a nice size, and the home feels 'homely'. The food is

Our mother was given the best care we could ever have asked for. Her every need was catered for on the physical and emotional level. The team was clearly dedicated and reflected a deep love and compassion for her. We were given detailed reports on her condition every day. My sister, who visited our
mother daily, was always greeted with a smiling face and all her queries answered to her satisfaction. It was heartening to know that our mother's last weeks were spent in such a caring and supportive environment.

Mum is treated very well by all the staff and they try and include her in activities but she is not really interested in the games/television but does take part in a few things.
No real problems, though sometimes the bed laundry is a bit hit-and-miss. Overall, Mum is quite happy here and feels safe.

My wife was with Tenterden House Care Home for five weeks (following hospital discharge) and she passed away there. She was cared for gently and respectfully and looked after by the nurses and Tenterden's GP. As a family after the initial settling in we felt supported and listened to, and on the day
she passed away the home made space for the family to visit and we felt cared for, and our needs accommodated. Thank you Tenterden House.

The staff couldn't have been more kind and caring. It was lovely to see the same staff all the time to get to know their names so that Mum was able to build a relationship with them. Following the recent refurbishment the decor and furniture were beautiful, felt like a really good hotel.

The care is second to none. Our mum was so well looked after - she was involved in the care. The food she received was tailored to her swallowing needs and was appetising and nourishing. She participated in activities both in the activities room and also whilst in her own room, of her choice. She loved
live music and Tenterden House has an excellent range of singers and musicians of all genres who entertain the residents.
Mum also participated in the monthly church service and also took part in Christian services, local clergy do a great job to include residents with their liturgy and seasonal focus. This was really important for her and also for us.
Mum passed away recently when she had a second severe stroke. She was able to receive end-of-life care at Tenterden House and we were so grateful that this was possible in what was her home. We were also so very well supported as a family. Thank you.

The staff work well with my sister, advising and helping her while respecting her independence. As she has learning difficulties this can take time and I appreciate the patience of the staff. My sister's physical and mental health has improved a lot since she has been there.
