I find Solent Grange to be 110%. I am very lucky my Dad is here. I live on the mainland and it would be very difficult to find a home as good as this one. My thanks to all staff. I think you are Angels.

Myself and my family couldn't have decided on a better care home. My husband has been there for a year and his care is faultless and as we visit every day we, of course, see a lot of nurses, carers, cleaners, chefs, all kitchen staff and they all work hard, are very kind and patient. Everyone is extremely
well cared for. I would like to thank every one of them for the care and love my husband receives, from the bottom of my heart.

My father came to Solent Grange for the last weeks of his life. All staff members carried out their roles with professionalism and humanity. Nurses were happy to explain what steps were being taken with his medical needs. His room was kept clean and tidy and the whole building felt spacious, light and
airy. Even in such a short time, we felt that staff had got to know him and they showed him genuine respect and care.

The staff go above and beyond their duty of care to help, support and care for the residents. They treat each person as an individual to give the best treatment and work hard to maintain their dignity and self-respect.
Solent Grange is by far the best nursing home I have seen.

Apart from the car park, which is dreadful (I'm going to have my car deep cleaned), we are very happy with the home. The staff were all lovely. It was extremely clean and he had a pleasant room. Our only concern was the lack of interaction with other residents who seemed unresponsive.

I find all the staff at Solent Grange are happy, cheerful and always make you feel very welcome when visiting.

The way the staff deal with my mother's dementia is brilliant. It keeps her relaxed and most of the time, happy.

My nan has only just arrived - Thursday 16 November 2017. To date, she has had a settled start here. We have been made to feel welcome as a family.

I will be happy to do a further review once she has been here a little longer.

Dad has been at Solent Grange for only 1 week. He is settling in well. Always welcomed by staff with a smile. The staff stop by his room and have a chat. A number of staff have recognised family members in a photograph. Dad is being treated with kindness and respect. A happy Dad means a happy family.

My family and I are all extremely happy with the care and attention that is given to our relative. Everyone is so kind and thoughtful, nothing is too much trouble, we can't fault it, any request is given as much as possible. We thank you all very much.
The only slight grumble is the hairdresser could
perhaps give a little thought into the gents hair, maybe as individuals, not just shaved off, just a small comment.

My wife went to Solent Grange on January 11, 2016, and continues to be there.
Throughout her time there she has received wonderful treatment by caring staff.
Her disabilities which include type 1 diabetes are very challenging for the staff in meeting her nursing needs.
Their attention to detail gives
me great confidence in her welfare.
Management and staff are always available to discuss any concerns I may have and I have access to her care plans.
Activities include trips out in a special bus to visit places of interest which is very stimulating.
Meals are varied and there is help on hand for eating.
I usually visit twice a day and am always greeted and made welcome.
We were very fortunate in getting a place at this home.

My friend has been in Solent Grange Isle of Wight, since August 2017. I visit her at least twice a week and I have always found all the staff to be extremely cheerful, friendly and very helpful. My friend is very happy in this home. In the mornings she can look out of her window and see rabbits, squirrels
and different birds. I would recommend this home to any family who has to make the decision to place a relative into a care home. The rooms are light and airy. Cleanliness is of a high standard, and the food looks nice and is well presented.

I consider this home to be excellent in every way. The care and compassion shown to residents is exceptional and there is an overall happy atmosphere. Nothing is too much trouble and all are made to feel part of one big happy family. Even if staff numbers are stretched at any time, every effort is made
to see that all the residents are kept happy and safe. Food quality appears excellent, with a varied menu. The home is maintained beautifully and safety procedures are strictly adhered to. Visiting relatives are made to feel most welcome at all times and an overall sense of family pervades the home. I would have no hesitation in recommending it to friends and family as a safe, caring and compassionate environment for a vulnerable loved one.

My mum has been in Solent Grange for over 3 years. When she was admitted here we had been told by a doctor at the hospital that her life expectancy was only 3-4months. Obviously the good care she gets has kept 'her going' for a lot longer.
She celebrates her 100th birthday in August.

My brother has been a resident at Solent Grange for approximately seven years. I consider the home to be at a very high standard and in my opinion meeting all of my brother's care needs.
The staff, in particular, are very respectful and caring to all I have seen. They put a lot of effort in making
the home a good environment to live in and the meals provided look first class.
I am always kept informed of any changes to my brother's health, also of any reviews that are due to take place.

Current Review Score: 9.4 (9.382)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.4 (9.382) out of 10 for Solent Grange is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 4.8 out of 5 from 13 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 4.6 out of 5 from 13 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.827 for Solent Grange is calculated as follows: ( (130 Excellents x 5) + (25 Goods x 4) + (1 Satisfactorys x 3) ) ÷ 156 Ratings = 4.827
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 4.555 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Solent Grange is based on 13 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 20 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews, 0.05 Points for the next five Positive Reviews, and finally 0.025 Points for the next ten Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.050, 7th = 0.050, 8th = 0.050, 9th = 0.050, 10th = 0.050, 11th = 0.025, 12th = 0.025, 13th = 0.025, 14th = 0.025, 15th = 0.025, 16th = 0.025, 17th = 0.025, 18th = 0.025, 19th = 0.025, 20th = 0.025) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 = 3.825
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 89 registered maximum number of service users is 17.8. 13 Positive Reviews ÷ 17.8 = 0.73
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
