My father has recently moved to Solent Grange and I must say the standard of care there is top class! He was not keen to be there initially (who is!?) but has quickly realised that the staff and facilities are definitely making his life much easier, and it’s so much better than the last place he stayed,
he’s now happy to be there, great food, great caring staff and top facilities, thank you Solent Grange for making my life and my father's easier, it’s such a hard time for all but you guys have helped so much.

Solent Grange is a modern, clean and welcoming place. My mother was well looked after during her three-plus months stay here and was treated with dignity and respect throughout. When she died, I was overwhelmed by the kindness and thought shown by the staff. My only negative comment would be that it
was not always easy to find nursing or care staff if I needed to ask a question or discuss something, both in person or on the phone, because they are all extremely busy and work hard to give patients the best care.
Reply from Sydney Lyttleton, Marketing Assistant at Solent GrangeWe appreciate your thoughtful review of Solent Grange. We're pleased to hear that your mother received excellent care and was treated with dignity and respect throughout her stay. Your understanding of our dedicated and hardworking staff, who are frequently engaged in providing the best care, is truly appreciated. Thank you for your kind words.

I am very happy for my mother to be living in Solent Grange. It is an excellent home in every sense. The reception staff and admin are always very welcoming. The manager is available to talk to relatives and is very approachable. All staff have been and continue to be most polite and friendly. When
entering the house it's rather more like a hotel atmosphere than a care home. Everyone is clean, tidy, bright and airy. My mother has mobility issues and requires extra help at times and I know they understand and support her with her limitations in this regard. So kind!

My grandfather is a resident here. I cannot fault one bit about this wonderful care home. Every need is met. Not just for my grandad but all the other residents as well. I love seeing pictures of my grandad and he’s always busy. I personally think the weekly music slots are his favourite as all the
residents are having a sing-along.

My mother has been a resident here for almost eighteen months. I would never contemplate moving her anywhere else. The care staff are amazing and the activities are second to none. In fact I couldn't keep up! Probably out of the question but a minibus would be the icing on the cake.

I visit my sister once a week and have found the staff to be very friendly and helpful.
My sister's one-to-one carer is, in my mind, to be commended for her hard work and patience.
I feel that my sister is in the right place, which is safe, clean and secure, with the right care at hand within the
facilities, for her changing condition.

My nan has been with the home now for a few years. When she entered, she was not given long to live. Now in the care home, she is thriving and will probably outlive us all. I am very grateful for the care she has received. The staff are lovely and respond to queries quickly. My nan seems happy.

We have experienced three-plus nursing homes over the past five years, and Solent Grange is by far the best. The manager and deputy manager are brilliant, the nurses are excellent and efficient, the carers treat residents with dignity and care, and the activity staff are fantastic.
The staff go above
and beyond in so many aspects.
I cannot fault them in any way - and I consider myself to be quite critical, particularly when it comes to the health and well-being of my mother.
I wouldn’t want my mother to be anywhere else now!

Mum went from the hospital to Solent Grange at our request, as we had visited previously and were impressed! Very well run and very caring staff. She was bed-bound and asleep most of the time, but various staff checked on her regularly throughout. They were all very kind and caring. Unfortunately, Mum
passed away fairly soon but had she remained there long-term, we felt confident letting her in their care.

My aunt has been at Solent Grange for nearly 4 years. Her care has considerably improved since the arrival of the manager. My aunt is happy at the home and from what I have seen staff are very caring. The chef's food is restaurant quality. Sunday was my aunt's 90th birthday and the staff pulled out
all the stops for a great party including residents, family and friends. We paid no extra for the food and drink and again, the food provided was excellent. I would recommend Solent Grange as a place where you can feel comfortable that your relative or friend will be well cared for and happy.

My dad has been a resident here for just over a year. I have had several issues with Dad's appearance not being as he would’ve liked as he has looked quite dishevelled and his room not being kept nicely. His clothes although laundered are not ironed and often go missing. I realize with dementia he can
not always help himself re his room as he often moves things around but I have monitored his room for some time and it is evident that it isn’t kept together regularly as I would like etc. He spends a great deal of his waking time in the day room sat in front of a television and the whole point of our decision to put Dad into a care home was that when we looked after him he needed more stimulation than we could provide but I don’t feel he is getting that at Solent Grange. He is self-funding and pays a lot for his care but I don’t think he gets as good a care as he deserves and pays for. They always add extras on to the monthly bill for toenail cutting, etc when this should be part of the care.

My aunt was transferred from hospital for palliative care. Right from the beginning, the reception staff and manager were welcoming, and nothing was too much trouble. The care my aunt received was so lovely. All the nurses and staff were happy, kind, helpful, professional and there for me as much as
Aunty. Her passing was peaceful with staff helping us throughout the gradual decline. It is first and foremost a home for the resident, not just a place of work for staff. Made some lovely bonds with all at Solent Grange.

I apologise for not writing a review sooner, only the loss of my mum and brother badly affected me, and I wanted to do justice to the lovely nursing home. My mum was sent to Solent Grange from the hospital. I had a call from one lady when my mum had arrived. Mum loved her bedroom and settled very quickly.
The care and love of the staff toward Mum was exceptional. Mum loved all the staff. Her dementia and health deteriorated, but Mum couldn't have had better care. Mum treated all the staff with love, and she treated them as her family. Her end of life care was amazing, and she was treated with so much love and dignity. Thank you all so much.

Current Review Score: 9.4 (9.382)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.4 (9.382) out of 10 for Solent Grange is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 4.8 out of 5 from 13 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 4.6 out of 5 from 13 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.827 for Solent Grange is calculated as follows: ( (130 Excellents x 5) + (25 Goods x 4) + (1 Satisfactorys x 3) ) ÷ 156 Ratings = 4.827
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 4.555 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Solent Grange is based on 13 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 20 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews, 0.05 Points for the next five Positive Reviews, and finally 0.025 Points for the next ten Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.050, 7th = 0.050, 8th = 0.050, 9th = 0.050, 10th = 0.050, 11th = 0.025, 12th = 0.025, 13th = 0.025, 14th = 0.025, 15th = 0.025, 16th = 0.025, 17th = 0.025, 18th = 0.025, 19th = 0.025, 20th = 0.025) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 = 3.825
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 89 registered maximum number of service users is 17.8. 13 Positive Reviews ÷ 17.8 = 0.73
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
