Creedy House is an impressive Victorian building which has been sympathetically converted into an attractive and spacious nursing/ dementia care home.

The house has been attractively decorated and boasts elegant interiors and beautiful, accessible gardens. The dementia unit- called The Lodge, has been renovated in colours and themes to reflect the needs of those living with dementia. It has long open corridors so lots of space for those who wish to wander. The Lodge is ground level and looks over the south facing garden. The corridor has different themed sections that encourages conversations and reminiscence.

The home can accommodate up to 44 people who have nursing and dementia care needs. There are two rooms that accommodate a couple/ people wanting to share.

Staff provide a person-centred approach to care helping people to maintain their independence and promoting choice. Professionals want everything they do in the home to be driven by the needs, abilities, and aspirations of their residents.

Creedy House offers home-cooked food, a library, raised garden beds for green-fingered residents, music conservatory, sun lounge, quiet room and a full and diverse programme of activities. The home has a hair salon and chiropodist who visit routinely and as needed.

There is a real family feel within the Home.

Staff encourage families and friends to be an active part of the community and value the role which relatives and friends play in the care of residents and provide support for them whenever it's needed.

Happiness is homemade.

My dad went to Creedy House Care Home mid-March 2021 as evicted from the previous care home which stated they couldn’t accommodate my care needs, just basic care needs which should have been carried out in the first place, it was a shocking place.
Placing my dad in a home was the hardest decision
I have ever made, he has been at Creedy almost a year and the difference between the homes is beyond compare, all the staff always find the time to discuss any concerns I have risen in the past and I know I can discuss anything troubling me with them, I’m welcomed when I visit and most importantly my dad seems to have settled well there.
Thank you to all the staff at Creedy for making my anxiety regarding my dad slightly easier to deal with.
My dad may be in a care home but that doesn’t mean I stop caring.
Reply from Nesta Hollyer, Registered Home Manager at Creedy HouseThank you. We really do try and make it feel like home from home. As a team, we have been together for a long time and I think this shows in the care and compassion we show. Kind regards, Nesta and the team

My sister seems happy and settled at Creedy House now they have got her medication sorted. Sometimes she is grumpy and wanting to go home, but that's to be expected with dementia. The staff all seem pleasant and helpful, and they treat her with respect. The only thing I don't like is that she quite
often is wearing other peoples clothes when I visit, and she has plenty of her own, which all have name labels.
Reply from Nesta Hollyer, Registered Home Manager at Creedy HouseThank you for your response. As you know, your sister is fully mobile and will often venture into others' rooms and search for clothing. It can be quite difficult when we try to change the clothing as she insists it is hers. We are aware of the situation and do try to direct her back to her room, but she can become quite upset at this.

I chose Creedy House due to its 'good' rating with the CQC. A big mistake. My father was there twice and both times they lost his property and sent us other resident's socks, underpants, and other items in exchange. Disgusting. His property was never listed or accounted for and it appears they took
no care of it whatsoever. More seriously, my father was clearly not supervised properly and whilst there was assaulted. This was glossed over when reported to us both verbally and in writing and we were told that no one saw the incident. As such when asked whether we wanted to request an investigation we thought it pointless. However, when I complained later on after my father was admitted to hospital with a life-threatening brain injury which I feel was sustained during this assault, I received a detailed explanation of the 'altercation' suggesting my father was the instigator. The staff appears disorganised, confused, and within their response to complaints, unfeeling, defensive, crass, and cold.
Reply from Nesta Hollyer, Registered Home Manager at Creedy HouseWe are saddened that you continue to feel unsupported by myself and Creedy House. We have tried to work with you through your concerns internally and have continued to respond to your correspondence. There are areas in your review that are not factually correct and are misleading. We were open and honest with outside supporting agencies, including CQC and Safeguarding, when the altercation took place - on your fathers first respite with us. This was fully investigated with no further actions required and you agreed with this at that time, so we were surprised that three months later we have received this review. If the communication with yourself had been better, your experience with Creedy House may have been more positive. On your father's second respite - three months later, he had had a fall at home the day before his admission into Creedy that night and we called for a paramedic assessment and your father was taken to hospital, where he was admitted.

I find everyone that I have come into contact with at Creedy House extremely helpful and caring. So very glad that my sister seems very happy there. Of course with covid 19 I have not been able to see for myself by dropping in on the spot or been able to take her out for the day. Hope this will change
soon when we get shot of this dreadful pandemic. But they keep in touch with me regularly and also when any medication or anything is needed, so far I am very pleased with Creedy House and its staff. I would like to thank them all for their help.

The care my father receives is second to none which is especially important to us during this difficult time where the restrictions due to COVID have stopped us being able to visit. That said, the staff keep us informed about my father’s well being and we have every opportunity to phone. We are always
made to feel so very welcome.

Care and compassion are evident, as well as excellent communications. Everyone is always so helpful, honest and knowledgeable. As much as we can’t visit, the manager and team take time to tell you what is going on and how our dad is getting on. Well done to them for coping with Covid and the festive
season.

The facilities at Creedy House has in the time Mum has been a resident has gone from okay to brilliant. Mum's dementia has taken away what I have loved seeing, Mum being independent. Now the staff that look after her are really great. They look after her with a great deal of care, very happy with Mum
being in Creedy House care.

My husband moved into Creedy House in February 2019. He has complex needs and is partially paralysed. He is always treated with the greatest respect and dignity. All staff give time, humour, and nothing is too much trouble, even in this very trying time we are all in. I phone every day, and the staff
always ask how I am, and neer grumble about taking the phone to my husband, they always remember to put it on loudspeaker for him. He gives them 5* ratings as I do!

Nursing staff and carers, all are kind and caring. Sometimes they seem a little short on staff at times. My brother has to wait quite a while for help up to his room sometimes. On Sunday his clothes were a bit dirty, but he says he is happy at the home.

My husband has been a resident in the home for 21 months. Staff at the home care about, as well as care for, all the residents. Some of the residents display challenging behaviours at times and staff deal with these events with patience and calmness. The home is bright and well decorated and maintained,
with no smelly carpets. There are several communal areas such as a conservatory, sunroom and lounges and a large enclosed garden to the rear which is available to the residents and visitors. Meals are varied and well cooked, with a selection at each meal. The Manager is very approachable and encourages feedback from residents and relatives on how things are in the home and what can be improved. There are organised activities on weekdays.

My dad thoroughly enjoyed his stay at Creedy House so much so that he extended his respite by an additional 10 days. He was cared for very well and whilst he was reluctant to stay away from home thanks to the care and support of the staff his mood was greatly improved generally (he has a history of
depression) and so too his confidence in nursing care. He looks forward to his next stay. Thank you

A well-run nursing home where staff and management are welcoming, approachable and caring. The Lodge provides a secure, spacious environment for my husband. Daily activities are available, including one to one. Regular social events are organised for residents and families throughout the year. There
are beautiful, well-kept gardens for all to enjoy. In conclusion, I couldn't wish for a more suitable environment for my husband. Thanks to all of the hardworking and dedicated staff at Creedy House.

Gradually there are some improvements in the overall managing of the home now that they seem to have a dedicated manager.
Carers do not seem to have the same residents to care for so it often lacks continuity of care.

Creedy house is like from home to home. It is clean, has excellent nutritious food, friendly staff and freedom for residents to wander around and meet others. They have lovely soft music always playing in the background, snack foods available on plates in the corridors should residents fancy a snack
and always have drinks around. We are always offered a drink on arrival and can have a dinner if we phone up and let them know. I still think I'm dreaming that my husband of 58 years is in such a beautiful place and he thinks it's his home, he asked me if I'd stay over night, "plenty of beds and it's nice here" he said. I have already recommended Creedy house to four people.

Since my mum has been at the care home she has been a lot more settled and happier than when she was at home. When I go to visit I am always made to feel very welcome, always offered a refreshment. My mum always looks well when I go to visit. I found the staff to be very thoughtful and caring towards
my mum's needs. I am always informed if there have been any issues with my mum's health. I did not think that my mum would have settled but seems to be very at home.

During my last few months of my brother's life, he has been treated with dignity and compassion by staff and management at Creedy House.

every need was met and he felt like he had gained another family. Thank you is not enough.

My mother has been a resident here for approx 19 months now.
From the start, the staff have been supportive, helpful and are very caring. They have a good understanding of dementia. The staff turnaround is very low which is important for the residents and overall they are a fantastic team. The food
is excellent and there always seems to be activities and entertainment taking place.
Very qualified nursing staff in place. Any issues we have had have always been dealt with promptly and appropriately. I think they have a very difficult job but do it with care, compassion and empathy and I can not fault them at all. My only negative would be more regular room cleaning as floors can be sticky/dirty at times.

Current Review Score: 9.8 (9.755)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.8 (9.755) out of 10 for Creedy House is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 4.8 out of 5 from 25 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 5.0 out of 5 from 25 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.755 for Creedy House is calculated as follows: ( (228 Excellents x 5) + (53 Goods x 4) + (9 Satisfactorys x 3) ) ÷ 290 Ratings = 4.755
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 5 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Creedy House is based on 25 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 20 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews, 0.05 Points for the next five Positive Reviews, and finally 0.025 Points for the next ten Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.050, 7th = 0.050, 8th = 0.050, 9th = 0.050, 10th = 0.050, 11th = 0.025, 12th = 0.025, 13th = 0.025, 14th = 0.025, 15th = 0.025, 16th = 0.025, 17th = 0.025, 18th = 0.025, 19th = 0.025, 20th = 0.025) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 = 4
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 44 registered maximum number of service users is 8.8, which has been reached with 25 Positive reviews. Points = 1
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
