My sister has been at Eaton Lodge for 8 years, and in all that time I have never had a complaint about the home, my sister is very happy there and loves the staff, who are a great bunch of people from management down.

The home provided comfort, support, and a warm, friendly atmosphere. The staff respected and were patient when dealing with my relative. Their care for family at a difficult time was extremely good. They enquired about his needs and did their best to cater to them. We were kept informed as to the situation on a regular basis, this we found reassuring.

Overall Experience
The nursing home seems to be understaffed.
Staff are always welcoming, friendly and happy to give out information about the resident being visited. The staff are kind and compassionate and give the impression they genuinely care about those living in the facility, but they always seem very pushed for time, and day staff often appear quite stressed.
Sometimes there seems to be a lack of communication between staff. Health concerns may be written down by one person but not followed through.
Often paperwork recording food and drink consumed and personal care is not accurately filled in.
There have been occasions when temporary/agency staff (senior and junior) have been unaware of specific residents requirements.

I am hoping that the standard of care will improve with the newly appointed head nurse or I may be looking to move my relative elsewhere.

My husband has lived in Eaton Lodge for a year now and though he still can't speak, use his right leg or arm, he seems very happy in himself. He enjoys a joke with the staff in his own way and it's never too much trouble to get him into his wheelchair so I can take him out down the nearby beach. I visit every day and the staff always greet me and tell me how he is. If I have a weepy day, they are always ready with a hug and a tissue. The home may not be posh but the love and care is fantastic.

My mother has been in the home for 2 1/2 years, she is very poorly and requires all help from the carers. I myself feel my mother is comfortable in the home. The home is clean and tidy and very homely. The staff are very caring to the residents and to my mother, they would give all their care to them even to the ladies by putting lipstick on and nail polish. The carers are also very happy and enjoying the work. The staff are very supportive to the relatives which is lovely and have the time to listen to our woes. I am very happy with the staff and home.

I can't fault the care my mum received in this home whilst she was there, and the support that was given to us as a family. The kitchen staff were amazing anything mum wanted they went out of their way to get it, and all of the staff were very professional and caring from the most senior staff down to the junior staff. I would have no problem recommending this home to anyone who needs care for a loved one. I can't thank them enough for what they did for my mum.
