I am happy to see my father thriving in Barchester Emily Jackson House Care Home after a very difficult period trying to find somewhere he could settle.
The staff are kind, responsive and friendly. Organised activities are increasing but there's no pressure for those (like my father) who sometimes
would rather relax with a newspaper or the TV!
The best recommendation I can give is that after eighteen months in the home, he looks as healthy as he has in years and is settled and peaceful.

My father came into the home in October 2023. At the time, he was quiet and withdrawn. He is now a changed man, he is happy most of the time, his care has been excellent and compassionate, as he is blind as well as diabetic.

I would not recommend Emily Jackson home at all. There is very little care or compassion for the residents upstairs at the home, I believe this is all because of the management, especially the main manager. He didn't have any compassion for us as a family and clearly, some of the residents receive the
same, if they seem to be harder work. The smell hits you every time you step out of the lift. My dad would be left days without being changed and weeks without being showered as he declined but given he has dementia this was most days. Dementia specialists they definitely are not. We worried every day about his care, arriving sometimes to find his feet black with dirt, walking around wet. Our visits were just to do his self-care
He has been lucky enough to move and the difference is amazing. He is showered daily, clean, clothed, treated like a human being, being shown care within the first week. I believe the previous manager was amazing but this manager leaves a lot to be desired.

My sister was Barchester Emily Jackson House Care Home for palliative care on 19/08/2024. In that short period, she was treated with respect and courtesy. All staff were friendly and polite. Being a private person, she did not wish to participate in the various social activities provided. This view
was respected and adhered to.
The care that she received in the final hours of her life was excellent and peaceful.

Mum has been in Barchester Emily Jackson House Care Home for one and a half years and still, I have to ask if she can be washed, also hair wash.
Her room is often grubby, I clean her bedside table every visit.
She is self-funding, also only given cereal for breakfast, lunch, dinner and still paying
full price.

Mum was placed with Emily Jackson for 4 weeks following a long spell in hospital.
Staff were kind and attentive. They took time to support us and listen to our concerns.
All staff in whatever role showed attention to detail and thoroughness - all with steady compassion.
The facilities are excellent
so Mum was very comfortable.

Thank you so much to all the lovely and caring staff. You cared for Mum so wonderfully well. You cared and visited her at home beforehand and so quickly once she was referred. You were kind and respectful at all times. I loved how welcoming I was in the home at any time. I loved that me and Dad could
have lunch with Mum on a Sunday. The food was really delicious. The medical attention she needed she to and was cared for beautifully at the end.

We have been delighted by the friendly and professional care which Mother has received at Emily Jackson House. All the staff have gone out of their way to make her feel welcome and to help her settle in quickly. The range of activities entertains all the residents and we are so pleased to have found

I would like to congratulate the team at Emily Jackson for their expertise in handling people with Dementia and for the excellent way they have welcomed my mum and dad into their home. My dad suffers from Alzheimer's and my mum has dementia. From the moment they arrived, we knew they were in the hands
of experts. The team created a beautifully calm environment with respectful, strong communication techniques. They quickly got them into a routine - creating a sense of occasion in the lunchtime dining experience with white table cloths and non-alcoholic red and white wine and a menu choice served with silver domes! My parents genuinely believe they are going out to lunch every day. As a result, they are never in their room - always sitting in the comfortable social areas and mixing with others. There are so many activities to keep them stimulated - making them instantly feel part of a family. Every thought is put into their personalities and how to build trust. Well done!

Barchester Emily Jackson House Care Home was chosen by me and my family largely on the atmosphere in the home, which, in my opinion, is generated mainly by the staff. In the four months my wife has been in your home receiving end-of-life care, I am sure that choosing Emily Jackson has proved a correct
decision. During that time, I have tried to find a member of staff who is neither helpful nor caring, but I have failed! Keep up the good work.

Sarah Varney

Hello! I’m Sarah Varney, and I proudly work as an Activities Co-ordinator at Emily Jackson Care Home in Sevenoaks, a role I’ve embraced since March 2023. Originally from Islington, I now call Orpington my home.


I find great joy and fulfilment in my work, as it allows me to make a positive impact on the lives of our residents. I love engaging with them and their families, learning about their interests and hobbies, and creating enjoyable experiences tailored to their preferences.


Outside of work, I cherish my time walking my dog and spending leisurely moments on our boat at Wateringbury. My ultimate aim in life is simple, to be happy and to spread happiness to those around me.

A Kent local born in Tunbridge Wells and now residing in Langton Green, Denise brings her passion for cooking to her role as Kitchen Assistant at Emily Jackson Care Home, where she's been creating delicious, nourishing meals since September 2023.


A devoted wife and mother of two, Denise finds joy in crafting meals that bring comfort to residents. When not in the kitchen, she expresses her creativity through art, painting, often drawing inspiration from the beautiful Kent countryside.

I'm Henry and I am a Care Assistant here at Emily Jackson House. I have had the pleasure of working here since August 2022.


I was born in Nigeria and I now live in Sidcup, Kent, with my wife and our 3 Children.


My aim every day at work at Emily Jackson Care Home is to put smiles on my residents' faces, working with a good strong team and having an organisation that is structured and can develop me is important as I am driven to succeed and work to learn the industry and grow with that learning.


My hobbies are watching movies, reading news and playing football


My future goals are having more responsibilities, being able to develop in my chosen career, visiting more countries and bringing my family to live with me in the United Kingdom.
