We as a family were extremely grateful for the care my nan received while staying at Gavin Astor. All the nurses and care team were so kind. Everyone was also so lovely to family members too and made us feel welcome.

My husband moved into Gavin Astor House Care Home in July 2021, he was welcomed to the home as if it were his family.
The staff and management were incredible and so kind. the care and support he has received has been brilliant, and not only have they supported and care for my husband they have been
fantastic to me too.
My husband is very happy and settled in the home, and I know he is in good and safe hands.

Both of my parents have recently moved into Gavin Astor as they could no longer live independently in their own home. Having lived independently in their own home for 68 years as a family we were all naturally anxious about them making the move. All of the Staff at Gavin Astor have made both my parents
very welcome and helped them settle relatively quickly into their new surroundings, having undertaken an assessment of their needs prior to the move have personalised their care for their different needs but importantly also allowing them to spend a lot of time together as a couple. The legacy of limited visiting because of COVID restrictions has been frustrating but there are signs that this is slowly improving. The areas of the home which have recently been refurbished look great and the rooms are bright, comfortable and well furnished assuming other areas are currently being refurbished and furnished to a similar standard it will be fantastic throughout when finished.

Both my parents have recently moved into Gavin Astor. Having different needs, finding somewhere to accommodate mum and dad was not an easy task. All the staff whether on the phone or in-person have provided us with professional support in a friendly and caring manner, through what has been a difficult
transition period not only for our parents but us as a family as well. During this time the home has also been going through its own refurbishment, the results of which are delightful. All the rooms we have seen are warmly decorated and inviting. I am pleased mum and dad report feeling settled and comfortable there already. Grateful thanks to all the staff for facilitating this.

Most of the food provided by an external company was reasonable. Soup is unappetising to me, with too many cut vegetables in it. In the early days, the roast beef was in fact stewing steak for casserole. The swede is tasteless, not having apparently been seasoned with salt or pepper. Simply tasteless.

Gavin Astor took Mum in after the hospital put Mum on end of life care. She had twelve more weeks, thanks to the care and compassion of the staff. Everything was done for her, to make her as comfortable and happy as possible. Special care was taken with her diet, as it was very restrictive, even her
desire for eggs and bacon was met with scrambled eggs and mushed bacon. Her eyes would light up when the nurses and carers came into the room, so we knew she was happy. She even managed jokes in her confused state. On the day Mum passed away, we the family were touched by the care and concern shown by all the staff. Gavin Astor staff all helped by using their knowledge and experience to guide us through. We thank them.

Mum was moved into Gavin Astor following a sudden loss of mobility; required a quick relocation. Gavin Astor have been friendly and accomodating throughout. Staff have always been lovely to Mum, and she always appears well cared for and happy (comparatively).
Facilities are well kept; nice garden spaces
and they have always been welcoming to family and friends.

My father, who was reluctant to go into a nursing home initially, couldn't have been happier at Gavin Astor House. The staff were amazing, always very attentive and were so welcoming from the first day he arrived. He found it difficult the first day or two, but the staff were very patient and after
that, he was very happy. He loved the staff and appreciated all the care and attention he received. As relatives visiting at all hours of the day or night and several of us at a time, the staff were kind thoughtful and welcoming. It was truly a home from home for our father and us. Sadly he only spent 4 weeks at the home, but we were very fortunate to have chosen such an amazing place with dedicated staff. I would definitely recommend this nursing home.

All the staff at Gavin Astor House were absolutely fantastic. The quality of care was outstanding, friendly and professional. There was very good communication from the care team, and they all made Dad very welcome and as comfortable as he could have been, right up until the end. I cannot thank them

I felt I was leaving my mum for respite care in very good hands. Every member of staff I encountered could not have been more friendly and caring. Even though mum has a trip to A&E, I was kept informed, and it assured. So, thank you to everyone at Gavin Astor House!

From the time my dad arrived at Gavin Astor all staff, including the nursing personnel, have taken the time to introduce themselves and equally get to know him. He has complex health issues, and his care needs change daily. Unlike his previous nursing home, his individual needs are met at Gavin Astor
to be akin to entering a big happy family home. I have been very impressed with the care and consideration I have been shown too. The staff have always answered any question I have raised, and the channels of communication have been very impressive. At long last, I can now return to work, knowing my dad is in safe hands and receiving good care.

From the moment I looked around the home for the first time I knew I would be happy for my mum to be cared for and live at Gavin Astor House. Right from the start, every member of staff has been friendly, helpful and caring. My mum loves it here and I am confident that she is being cared for properly
and with dignity. I can now sleep at night knowing she is safe and well cared for.

I very much enjoyed staying at Gavin Astor House nursing home from Monday 8th July to Saturday 28th July 2019. Everyone enjoyed their stay, in particular, the lovely meals we had at Breakfast, Lunch and Evening meals. On occasions, we met up in the garden and on one particular day, 65 of us had lunch
in the garden. We were lucky with the weather and most days were sunny.

My father was very poorly before entering Gavin Astor. His care has been superb and his health has improved directly as a result of being in the home. He is treated with kindness, dignity and respect. The staff are friendly and cheerful and the entertainment is outstanding. This is a differentiator
for Gavin Astor. The entertainments manager is brilliant at his job and is always looking for creative, imaginative and fun things to do. My Dad loves him, as do the whole family. Highly recommended.

Overall I have been delighted with the standard of care Dad has been receiving. We feel Dad is in the best place and continues to receive outstanding care. Whilst very clean, certain aspects of the home are looking dated and while we understand these are due for renovation improvements would be definitely
due. Also, we understand there has been a transition in the catering provided and this is a definite improvement in the standard. There is still room for improvement in both the quality and diligence of the food presentation. It is only these areas that let down the overall standard which is overall good. With an improvement in both, the overall standard would be excellent.
