The team at Gavin Aster is very professional and welcoming. My father is very well cared for in all aspects of his needs. The building has been refurbished recently, the accommodation is very well designed for residence. We would recommend Gavin Astor to our friends and family.

Both of my parents have recently moved into Gavin Astor as they could no longer live independently in their own home. Having lived independently in their own home for 68 years as a family we were all naturally anxious about them making the move. All of the Staff at Gavin Astor have made both my parents very welcome and helped them settle relatively quickly into their new surroundings, having undertaken an assessment of their needs prior to the move have personalised their care for their different needs but importantly also allowing them to spend a lot of time together as a couple. The legacy of limited visiting because of COVID restrictions has been frustrating but there are signs that this is slowly improving. The areas of the home which have recently been refurbished look great and the rooms are bright, comfortable and well furnished assuming other areas are currently being refurbished and furnished to a similar standard it will be fantastic throughout when finished.

Food could be improved, by being cooked in our own kitchens, not an external provider. Processed meat is unacceptable. Prefer fresh meat.

Most of the food provided by an external company was reasonable. Soup is unappetising to me, with too many cut vegetables in it. In the early days, the roast beef was in fact stewing steak for casserole. The swede is tasteless, not having apparently been seasoned with salt or pepper. Simply tasteless.

Gavin Astor took Mum in after the hospital put Mum on end of life care. She had twelve more weeks, thanks to the care and compassion of the staff. Everything was done for her, to make her as comfortable and happy as possible. Special care was taken with her diet, as it was very restrictive, even her desire for eggs and bacon was met with scrambled eggs and mushed bacon. Her eyes would light up when the nurses and carers came into the room, so we knew she was happy. She even managed jokes in her confused state. On the day Mum passed away, we the family were touched by the care and concern shown by all the staff. Gavin Astor staff all helped by using their knowledge and experience to guide us through. We thank them.

Mum was moved into Gavin Astor following a sudden loss of mobility; required a quick relocation. Gavin Astor have been friendly and accomodating throughout. Staff have always been lovely to Mum, and she always appears well cared for and happy (comparatively).

Facilities are well kept; nice garden spaces and they have always been welcoming to family and friends.

My father, who was reluctant to go into a nursing home initially, couldn't have been happier at Gavin Astor House. The staff were amazing, always very attentive and were so welcoming from the first day he arrived. He found it difficult the first day or two, but the staff were very patient and after that, he was very happy. He loved the staff and appreciated all the care and attention he received. As relatives visiting at all hours of the day or night and several of us at a time, the staff were kind thoughtful and welcoming. It was truly a home from home for our father and us. Sadly he only spent 4 weeks at the home, but we were very fortunate to have chosen such an amazing place with dedicated staff. I would definitely recommend this nursing home.

I wanted to say a heartfelt thank you for the loving, professional way you cared for my father. We as a family took great comfort that for the last six weeks of his life he was in your hands and died with dignity. Your staff's kindness and sensitivity made such a difference at what was a very demanding time.

From the time my dad arrived at Gavin Astor all staff, including the nursing personnel, have taken the time to introduce themselves and equally get to know him. He has complex health issues, and his care needs change daily. Unlike his previous nursing home, his individual needs are met at Gavin Astor to be akin to entering a big happy family home. I have been very impressed with the care and consideration I have been shown too. The staff have always answered any question I have raised, and the channels of communication have been very impressive. At long last, I can now return to work, knowing my dad is in safe hands and receiving good care.

From the moment I looked around the home for the first time I knew I would be happy for my mum to be cared for and live at Gavin Astor House. Right from the start, every member of staff has been friendly, helpful and caring. My mum loves it here and I am confident that she is being cared for properly and with dignity. I can now sleep at night knowing she is safe and well cared for.

I very much enjoyed staying at Gavin Astor House nursing home from Monday 8th July to Saturday 28th July 2019. Everyone enjoyed their stay, in particular, the lovely meals we had at Breakfast, Lunch and Evening meals. On occasions, we met up in the garden and on one particular day, 65 of us had lunch in the garden. We were lucky with the weather and most days were sunny.

My father was very poorly before entering Gavin Astor. His care has been superb and his health has improved directly as a result of being in the home. He is treated with kindness, dignity and respect. The staff are friendly and cheerful and the entertainment is outstanding. This is a differentiator for Gavin Astor. The entertainments manager is brilliant at his job and is always looking for creative, imaginative and fun things to do. My Dad loves him, as do the whole family. Highly recommended.

Overall I have been delighted with the standard of care Dad has been receiving. We feel Dad is in the best place and continues to receive outstanding care. Whilst very clean, certain aspects of the home are looking dated and while we understand these are due for renovation improvements would be definitely due. Also, we understand there has been a transition in the catering provided and this is a definite improvement in the standard. There is still room for improvement in both the quality and diligence of the food presentation. It is only these areas that let down the overall standard which is overall good. With an improvement in both, the overall standard would be excellent.

Initially, my husband was to stay at GAH for two weeks of respite care. This was brought forward to be an emergency admission from hospital. From then on, management staff swung into action, efficiency, speed, compassion and dignity have continued to be maintained into his care. Carers are friends too! Equally, all these traits have been shown to me in a very supportive way at such an emotional and stressful time. Thank you.

I cannot recommend Gavin Astor enough. They are currently making my mother in laws last days some of the best she has ever had in her life!
