My mother moved to Halliwell Care Home in June 2016 following a fall in which she broke her hip. She was no longer able to live on her own. she had a lovely room with a good en-suite in which she could have a shower quite easily with help. Halliwell Care Home has several lounges which are like rooms in your own home and a beautiful dining room. The garden is a wonderful space and mum enjoyed being taken there in a wheelchair. The food was always good - with great choices. Most importantly, she had wonderful care from kind, compassionate, thoughtful and caring staff - at all levels. It was never going to match her own home, but they did their best to make it as good as possible. She sadly died 10 weeks ago and her end was made as comfortable as possible for her and as a family.
Thank you very much for your lovely comments and review of Halliwell which I will pass onto the team.
All staff are friendly, caring and professional. Management is also very caring and "hands on". It is inevitable that problems occur in a residential home but these were dealt with promptly, efficiently and satisfactorily.
Many thanks again.
Very caring staff allowed my visits anytime. Very kind to a grumpy patient.
Thank you so much for your lovely review. Will pass on to the team.
He required full time nursing care throughout. He was treated with great kindness, respect and made as comfortable as possible throughout his stay by every employee he came in contact with. For the family members and friends who visited him, we were made to feel welcome and our privacy respected. Although a very trying and difficult time for us, everyone at Halliwell was wonderful.
It is with the greatest of pleasure that I will feed your review back to the team. We know that it can be a difficult time for families and friends when a loved one comes into a care home and building a bond not only with residents but relatives is an important part of personalised care and a resident's wellbeing. Especially as it is the resident's home.
I was only two weeks in the above home and I was impressed in those two weeks. The food was very good. Any problems the nurses were ready to arrange.
Very many thanks for taking the time.
Wonderful place for my father. Everything first class. Felt that my father was in very good hands. My father was in Halliwell for approx. 2 years. I have recommend the home to friends.
Very very high class care from management and staff who "make a real difference" and really care. A fantastic service and facilities.
Mother was a resident for three years until she died at the age of 100. Efficient and well organised care. Good range of activities for residents well enough to participate, including excursions, music, scrabble, jigsaws, painting and flower arranging. Smooth transition from care staff to nursing staff when my mother's health needed this.
I was at Halliwell for a month and a half, recovering from a fractured femur in my right leg, a process complicated by pre-existing polio related weakness in both legs. My room, though small was comfortable, with a distant view of fields. The staff, nursing, administration and catering were without exception, courteous, friendly and helpful. Though on occasions (I was there over the Christmas holiday period) short staffed and therefore stretched. Individual members of staff never made me feel a nuisance and nothing was too much trouble. The food was mostly excellent, with a degree of choice, and a welcome contrast to the food provided in hospital. All in all I felt revitalised by the time I left Halliwell and I am grateful to all the staff the experience.
It is always lovely to get feedback from residents who have stayed with us and appreciate the wonderful team that work so hard to make Halliwell the special place it is. Many thanks
Mum lived at Halliwell for 18 months. She loved it there. She made friends with other residents and enjoyed the activities at the home. She often said it was a lovely place to be - good food spotless rooms and pleasant company. She got on well with the staff and they looked after her very well.
My father lived at Halliwell from August 2014 - July 2015 when he sadly died. From the very outset he was treated with care and great compassion and dignity until he died there. We were as a family very impressed with the Halliwell it was very assuring that we knew dad as in safe and caring hands. He had very complex needs. They also treated my brothers and I with care and compassion when he as in the last ten days of his life. We were very impressed
We have used Halliwell from time to time as respite care for my mother who is extremely infirm. The care is exceptional, the staff are great. They are interested, enthusiastic and caring. We have also used the Halliwell for post operative care to help get mum back on her feet. Their care has enabled this very wobbly 87 year old to return to her own home, where she is supported by her family plus carers. No doubt we will call on them again in due course..
Thank you very much for this lovely review and I will pass on to the team.
I was more than satisfied with my husbands care he couldn't have been in a better place but a few things weren't right so I haven't put excellent on all counts. Everybody there was kind, helpful, cheerful but sometimes it took rather a long time for anybody to respond to the bell for attention the catering was not always up to scratch. My husband has now passed away.
It is very pleasing to see you have awarded Halliwell an “Excellent” in overall Standard of Care. I appreciate your bringing to our attention the slow response to the call bell that you had experienced and as a result we have been able to put new measures into place to ensure that this will not be...
My mother was a resident at Halliwell from October 2014 to June 2015. The whole building is modern and very well maintained it has a very good and welcoming feel to it. The staff are efficient, very professional, kind and caring. They treat the residents with kindness and respect. Facilities are very good and residents are encouraged to join in the various activities. Food is excellent and visitors can join residents for lunch. All in my mother loved her time at Halliwell and regarded it as her home.
