My mother came to Hazelwood from hospital in 2021 and I was very impressed from the start with the standard. When told in 2022 my husband was being sent to a care home for assessment I ask for Hazelwood. The manager and staff are friendly and very approachable, food and cleanliness are excellent. When making heartbreaking decisions for my husband it has to feel right and I feel that I made the right choice in choosing Hazelwood.

I would like to congratulate the staff at Hazelwood Care Home. Personally, they treat me with great courtesy and awareness. My darling wife is looked after with dignity and gentle care and I would recommend this beautiful home from home to all my friends, relatives etc. The standard of care is only exceeded by the staff's vigilance and loving care. I hope that if I ever became infirm or demented that you will find room in your scrumptious home for me with such wonderful staff that may bring a tear to the most hardened personality, feel this excellent standard and your residents have nothing to fear from becoming old.

I would like to express my thanks to all the staff Hazelwood Care Home for their care towards my mum in the last two years. She arrived at Hazelwood Care Home very poorly and due to the staff going above and beyond their work. She was nursed back to health joining in with activities and socialising with the other residents. It has also been a very testing time due to Covid but the staff have been excellent all through. Again I can't thank you enough it gave me peace of mind to know that she was being so extremely well cared for.

Overall Experience
Having worked in countless terrible care homes, I was extremely anxious about finding one for my own grandad. However, immediately on our first visit I knew that we had found the perfect place.
Hazelwood Care Home has exceeded our expectations. It’s modern and clean, yet homely with impressive facilities. All the staff are friendly and extremely helpful. It’s clear that they genuinely care about the residents, and go above and beyond to meet their needs.
The manager is a beacon of professionalism, dedicated to ensuring that the residents and their relatives are well accommodated.
When my grandad arrived he was very poorly, but quickly settled in and is now not only comfortable and stable but putting weight back on and is his old happy self again. We are kept up to date with everything and can rest assured that he’s safe and well looked after.

I cannot recommend Hazelwood highly enough. It’s an outstanding care home, setting an exemplary standard for all others.

The care Mum received at Hazelwood was exemplary. All the staff seemed to get to know her, and as far as possible, understand her likes and dislikes. Her engagement was encouraged, and to some extent, thrived. Her last few days were calm, peaceful and expertly managed. The day and evening teams worked seamlessly to help Mum and us through the most difficult of times. The care, compassion and professionalism were of the very highest quality.

Unfortunately my father became very unwell and needed specialist nursing care following a severe illness. Myself and my family started the difficult journey of finding a nursing home that we felt would meet his needs and be a safe and comfortable environment for him. As soon as we visited Hazelwood Care Home we knew that this was the right environment for him. The time and attention we received from staff at the very beginning of my dad's journey demonstrated to us as a family that this home had the right values we were looking for and we were never disappointed. The manager knows and understands all of his residents and struck up a deeply respectful relationship with our dad which we know helped him immensely during a difficult time for him. The staff went out of their way to keep him safe and happy, made him laugh and were there for him when he was struggling. They truly cared for our dad and were a great support for our mother which we will never forget and be forever grateful for. Thank you all.

My sisters and I became overwhelmed by the level of care our mother needed last summer and had to admit we could no longer look after her at home. Mum had advanced vascular dementia and had developed issues with her mobility. We consider ourselves very fortunate to have found Hazelwood Care Home and its skilled and dedicated staff for whom nothing was too much trouble.
The staff looked after Mum with total respect for her dignity and jollied her along with good humour and total dedication. Who cares if, on occasion, she was wearing a random pair of slippers!

When the end came the staff not only looked after mum but also supported us. They eased us through that final journey and we will be forever grateful.

25th of July 2019, I was informed by the hospital that I needed to put Mum in a nursing home, 2 sources independently recommended Hazelwood Care Home. that day I made contact with the managers assistant and was shown round. I was flying on Holiday on the 2nd of August, the manager was on leave until Tuesday 30th, I was told he would probably assist Mum the next day. He came in one day early just to see his CQC results. This confirmed to me that the manager was dedicated and the home worked well. All the staff and the home has exceeded at all levels. I commend them and recommend them.

I cannot thank the staff at Hazelwood enough for their professionalism, friendliness and above all the outstanding care received. The communication with me regarding my relative is excellent and I have been given a lot of support too. I am continually impressed by the extremely high standard of care, dignity and respect given to my relative by all of the staff. The home environment is perfect, with cleanliness and hygiene second to none. This is an extremely well-managed home and the manager is at the heart of the home, very easy to talk to, very supportive, and very, very caring.

I wish to thank everyone for their incredible work to provide a home for its residents of which they should be very proud.

Dad moving into a nursing home was such a difficult time for all of us, the team at Hazelwood have worked so hard, with compassion and kindness to make sure that he has settled well and that we are included in his care. Dad has lived at Hazelwood for nearly a year now and the team have encouraged and supported him to gain back some of his limited independence, he looks the most relaxed I have seen him in a long time.
We are always welcomed and Dad has remained well, during such a difficult time.

Thank you.

My father moving into Hazelwood in July 2020 was one of the best decisions we have made in relation to his care. All of the staff at Hazelwood are friendly, polite and always have a smile on their face. My dad spends a lot of time in the office with the care home manager or sat by the nurse's station at weekends. They never make him, or us, feel that this is an inconvenience in any way. They keep us informed of dad's health or if he needs anything, but call at least once a month with an update and to check with us to see if we have any concerns. Their Covid precautions have been excellent and we have been able to visit regularly using the garden, a dedicated visitor room or his own room more recently. Whilst my dad now has Alzheimer's and isn't as sociable as he once was, the staff gently encourage him to participate in the regularly organised activities. The home is clean, well maintained and provides the safe environment we needed for dad. He, and us, are very happy. Thank you.

My father had been a resident of Hazelwood for a little over two years. When I turned up without an appointment to view, I was shown around by the manager, greeted with a smile and a good morning by staff, and immediately knew it was the perfect place for my sometimes difficult Father who had one-sided paralysis from a stroke and dementia. I fought hard with the local council to have my dad placed in Hazelwood, and I have never regretted that.
From the staff member in reception, the manager, and all the staff, I've received nothing but friendliness and professionalism when required. They treated my father exceptionally well, and they made me feel part of their family. Invitations to events and BBQ's were always extended.
When my father passed away, he was treated with dignity and respect. Many members of staff came by his room to say goodbye, and they took the time to make sure my brother and I were fed and supplied with tea while we sat with Dad.

I can highly recommend.

My mother, who has Alzheimer's, is extremely well cared for at Hazelwood, and I cannot recommend them highly enough. All the carers and nursing staff are kind, caring and professional and know and manage their clients very well. The manager and admin team are also excellent and have provided both practical and emotional support to me which is much appreciated. My mother has been a resident of Hazelwood Care Home since April (2020). The management and staff are absolutely superb; they are so kind and patient with Mum, I could not ask for more. The building and gardens are well maintained, and the hair salon is a great boost for Mum. The events are excellent; the residents have been enjoying BBQ's in the sun. The staff are helpful, compassionate and considerate. Mum is content with her own possessions around her to make her feel at home. I am happy my lovely mum is at Hazelwood.

My stepmother was very distraught when admitted to Hazelwood. Within three days, they had managed to calm her down completely - something rehab hadn't managed to do in seven weeks. I am extremely happy that she is now in a safe place and it is obvious from our meeting with the manager recently, that he is totally on top of the covid19 situation or knows my stepmother's little foibles. It would appear that she will have a stimulating and anxiety-free life while she is in their care.

My mother has been at Hazelwood Care Home for 4 months. Most of this time has involved the Covid19 lockdown. My visits have therefore been more limited than under normal circumstances. When I have been able to visit I have been very pleased with what I have seen. Mum is safe and very well cared for. All of the staff are very friendly and helpful. I have been kept well informed about Mum's health and care despite the early restrictions. Visiting re-commenced as soon as it was safely possible to do so and a good vigilance has been maintained throughout. I am very happy that Mum has been able to move there once living safely at home was no longer viable. I am currently unable to comment on the activities as they have been suspended in the main due to Covid and also my mother prefers to stay in her room. I would certainly recommend Hazelwood to anybody looking for residential care.
