We struggled to put our mum in a home but we shouldn't have worried, she was in Hazelwood for 7 weeks until she passed away. The staff are amazing and nothing is to much trouble, they genuinely care about the residents and their families. We would like to thank them for making our mum's last few months comfortable and for reassuring her when she was scared and for the high standard of nursing care and kindness that she received. We would also like to thank Hazelwood's manager for his professional and approachable manner in which he runs Hazelwood. We will never forget his kindness to our mum and us as a family.

Thank you for taking the time to leave such kind comments. I'm really pleased that you and your mum had a positive experience with our home. I will share your comments with our team.

Staff have all been very courteous and helpful. The home is always clean. The staff are very caring, and my wife is well looked after. Always been understanding and helpful with PPE for me given the current covid situation. When I phone, they are always cheerful and happy to speak to me, give me information about my wife, particularly during the lockdown period.

Reply from Richard Maddison, Regional Manager at Hazelwood Care Home

Thank you for taking the time to do this review. It is good to hear that during this pandemic your wife is being well cared for. I will pass on your thanks to the staff at Hazelwood.

The manager at Hazelwood goes above and beyond to ensure that the residents have the best possible experience. He is always available to relatives to discuss care plans and outcomes. The staff, without exception, gave excellent care to my husband in the seven months he was a resident. Nothing was ever too much trouble - they responded to every request immediately and cheerfully. He was always treated with dignity and respect.

All my family take it in turns to visit my sister. We are very pleased to go there, we could not speak too highly of all aspects. We only could not rate activities as we have not taken any part in them yet. I was so pleased to see my sister looking at animal books and bird books with a member of staff.

My mum was only in the home for 6 days she was fast-tracked out of hospital for end of life care. I am extremely pleased that I found this home and she spent her last few days here. It was just a shame that she wasn't here for longer as she would have completely loved it. The caring staff and the activities they provide as she was a peoples person. It was more like a 5-star hotel than a care home

My father-in-law has been a resident at Hazelwood since the end of 2018. Throughout his time there, he has received outstanding care. The staff have been friendly, kind, caring and extremely attentive. He has always been clean, shaven and dressed in clean clothes. His room hs always been clean, and meals have been of an excellent standard, so much so, I truly believe his care prolonged his life. The manager has always been accessible, and I cannot thank everyone enough for your professionalism.

Hazelwood is a lovely care home where everyone is treated as "family". The care by the staff is excellent, and nothing is ever too much trouble for them. The food is excellent too, just like homemade, with plenty of choices. We were very lucky that Dad was able to live there, and I recommend "Hazelwood" to others.

My grandad has been at Hazelwood Care Home for 15 months, until recently, sadly passing on. Since his arrival until current, all the staff have been fantastic and the level of care is exemplary. They treat the "home" like a real home and ensure that the residents are always comforted and having an enjoyable time during this stage of their lives. By far the best care home, I have ever visited.

Dad went to Hazelwood in December 2018, he wasn’t in the best of health due to his dementia. After a couple of weeks at the home, he picked up a lot and even started to put on weight. He was always clean, tidy and shaved. His room was always clean.

The staff are the best I have experienced, they interacted with Dad brilliantly and they were always talking to him and involving him in things they were doing.

My mum has been at Hazelwood nursing home for nine months. After a surprising short settling in period, and despite being in late stages of dementia, mum is treated with dignity and very happy, this is due to the staff from management to cleaners talking, laughing and making her feel safe which is most important.
There are many important aspects to consider when choosing a nursing home, but the most important aspect is caring management and staff, who make sure the welfare and happiness of the residents are demonstrated, not just by nice words, but by caring actions which they show every day by the attention the residents receive at all times.
This is a homely nursing home, always clean with excellent facilities from Security, value for money, rooms, food, entertainment and the excellent care the staff offer to meet the individual needs of each resident.

I would have no hesitation in recommending this nursing home to others, as the overall standard of this home is excellent.

Mum was a resident of Hazelwood from November 2018 and sadly mum passed away in October 2019. During the time mum was at Hazelwood, we could not have been happier with her care. The staff there were amazing, so caring, professional and kind at all times. As mum's health deteriorated, all her extra needs were met perfectly and we could go home after visiting her with the peace of mind that she would be looked after exceptionally well. During mum's last few days, she was cared for with so much compassion from all the staff and manager and that really helped us at this sad time.

I highly recommend this care home, it actually does care for its residents and nothing is too much trouble.

My mum has been in Hazelwood Nursing Home since the 4th of March. Myself and family are very very pleased with her care, we couldn't have picked a better one. The staff and management are on the ball at all times, any issues are dealt with ASAP. We have had 2 very small issues, the manager sorted them out with a very quick response. All the staff are lovely, very friendly, nothing is too much for them.

We would like to thank all the staff and management for all the support you have given us and our mum in the last 4 months. Thank you.

My wife was in Hazelwood for 2 years during which she received outstanding, consistent care throughout. The staff were always aware of her needs and supportive to me. The home has been refurbished to a high standard recently. The Manager demands and obtains high standards from his carers in a calm and approachable manner. The residents are encouraged to participate in communal activities by 3 enthusiastic activity carers. I was able to leave after a visit knowing she was in kind hands in a secure environment.

My husband was recently in for 2 weeks respite care so I could have a break.
I was very pleased with the senior and junior staff in welcoming me and my husband, they were very helpful.
The room was very nice and clean. The staff placed all my husbands belonging neatly in the cupboard.
On a visit, my husband was in clean clothes and showered daily
Whilst being away other members of my family visited my husband and were very impressed with the care and the friendly staff who always welcome them.
I recommend the home to have a good standard in caring and cleanliness.

Will be placing for future respite care for my husband in the home.
