Having opened in 2000 and renovated in 2019, Hazelwood is a modern home with two floors that have been specifically constructed to satisfy the needs of its residents.

Hazelwood Care Home offers residents exemplary standards of Dementia, Nursing, Residential and Respite Care. With a wide range of exceptional facilities, the home provides Dementia Care with nursing needs on the first floor in the Poppy Unit and general Nursing Care for elderly individuals on the ground floor in the Primrose Unit.

My mum was only in the home for 6 days she was fast-tracked out of hospital for end of life care. I am extremely pleased that I found this home and she spent her last few days here. It was just a shame that she wasn't here for longer as she would have completely loved it. The caring staff and the activities
they provide as she was a peoples person. It was more like a 5-star hotel than a care home

My father-in-law has been a resident at Hazelwood since the end of 2018. Throughout his time there, he has received outstanding care. The staff have been friendly, kind, caring and extremely attentive. He has always been clean, shaven and dressed in clean clothes. His room hs always been clean, and
meals have been of an excellent standard, so much so, I truly believe his care prolonged his life. The manager has always been accessible, and I cannot thank everyone enough for your professionalism.

Hazelwood is a lovely care home where everyone is treated as "family". The care by the staff is excellent, and nothing is ever too much trouble for them. The food is excellent too, just like homemade, with plenty of choices. We were very lucky that Dad was able to live there, and I recommend "Hazelwood"

My grandad has been at Hazelwood Care Home for 15 months, until recently, sadly passing on. Since his arrival until current, all the staff have been fantastic and the level of care is exemplary. They treat the "home" like a real home and ensure that the residents are always comforted and having an enjoyable

Dad went to Hazelwood in December 2018, he wasn’t in the best of health due to his dementia. After a couple of weeks at the home, he picked up a lot and even started to put on weight. He was always clean, tidy and shaved. His room was always clean.
The staff are the best I have experienced, they interacted
with Dad brilliantly and they were always talking to him and involving him in things they were doing.

My mum has been at Hazelwood nursing home for nine months. After a surprising short settling in period, and despite being in late stages of dementia, mum is treated with dignity and very happy, this is due to the staff from management to cleaners talking, laughing and making her feel safe which is most
important.
There are many important aspects to consider when choosing a nursing home, but the most important aspect is caring management and staff, who make sure the welfare and happiness of the residents are demonstrated, not just by nice words, but by caring actions which they show every day by the attention the residents receive at all times.
This is a homely nursing home, always clean with excellent facilities from Security, value for money, rooms, food, entertainment and the excellent care the staff offer to meet the individual needs of each resident.
I would have no hesitation in recommending this nursing home to others, as the overall standard of this home is excellent.

Mum was a resident of Hazelwood from November 2018 and sadly mum passed away in October 2019. During the time mum was at Hazelwood, we could not have been happier with her care. The staff there were amazing, so caring, professional and kind at all times. As mum's health deteriorated, all her extra needs
were met perfectly and we could go home after visiting her with the peace of mind that she would be looked after exceptionally well. During mum's last few days, she was cared for with so much compassion from all the staff and manager and that really helped us at this sad time.
I highly recommend this care home, it actually does care for its residents and nothing is too much trouble.

My mum has been in Hazelwood Nursing Home since the 4th of March. Myself and family are very very pleased with her care, we couldn't have picked a better one. The staff and management are on the ball at all times, any issues are dealt with ASAP. We have had 2 very small issues, the manager sorted them
out with a very quick response. All the staff are lovely, very friendly, nothing is too much for them.

My wife was in Hazelwood for 2 years during which she received outstanding, consistent care throughout. The staff were always aware of her needs and supportive to me. The home has been refurbished to a high standard recently. The Manager demands and obtains high standards from his carers in a calm and
approachable manner. The residents are encouraged to participate in communal activities by 3 enthusiastic activity carers. I was able to leave after a visit knowing she was in kind hands in a secure environment.

My father in law was admitted to Hazelwood on the 21st of May. The care he has received was outstanding. At the time of admission, he had two pressure sores which have healed up, I cannot recommend this care home enough, staff are very polite and helpful.

My husband was recently in for 2 weeks respite care so I could have a break.
I was very pleased with the senior and junior staff in welcoming me and my husband, they were very helpful.
The room was very nice and clean. The staff placed all my husbands belonging neatly in the cupboard.
On a visit,
my husband was in clean clothes and showered daily
Whilst being away other members of my family visited my husband and were very impressed with the care and the friendly staff who always welcome them.
I recommend the home to have a good standard in caring and cleanliness.
Will be placing for future respite care for my husband in the home.

Although early days yet (it was the beginning of March when our relative was moved into Hazelwood), we are extremely pleased with the care and attention shown by all staff and personnel at the home. We looked at several nursing homes before deciding on Hazelwood and believe we have chosen the right
one. All staff from the Manager through the carers, nurses, laundry, admin, activities coordinators, kitchen staff, cleaners - everyone, right down to the maintenance personnel are so lovely and friendly - we are welcomed whenever we visit. The care received by the residents (as witnessed by us) is second to none and the facilities are excellent. The home's communication with us is very good and we feel relaxed about leaving our family member there at the end of our visits.

My uncle has been in Hazelwood since mid January. He seems happy there and I have been generally impressed.
From my uncles perspective, he gets personal care from friendly staff who seem to engage in a professional yet friendly manner. The home is kept smart with comfortable ensuite rooms. From what
I have seen of the food, it appears appetising and I know my uncle often has seconds!. The communal facilities are excellent with a cinema room as well as quieter lounges where residents can interact if they wish. Visiting times are flexible and visitors are made to feel welcome. In fact, it's not so much visiting my uncle in a home, it's visiting him in his home.
Finally, I would add that putting a relative in care is a new experience for me, the manager has been extremely helpful in explaining procedures, not only with the home but also those involving local authorities.

My father has been at Hazelwood for three months and this is my first experience of a residential nursing home. From the first day, the staff and management have done everything they can to see he is settled and content. Moving my father into Hazelwood was traumatic for my mother and every staff member
has worked to ensure that she is reassured and happy with his care. Suffering from dementia and totally immobile has meant at times my father's behaviour has been challenging but he has been treated with kindness, reassurance and patience at all times. Staff take time to sit and chat to him whenever he needs that extra bit of care. The facilities at Hazelwood are excellent and friends and family are encouraged to visit at any time which is good for both my mother and father. The medical care provided by the staff and liaison with the local GP is exemplary and the true measure of Hazelwood is that every member of my family leaves after a visit knowing my father is in the best of hands.

The best care home, by a long way, that my mother has been in, and she has been in 11 over the years. At Hazelwood, they actually care for the residents as individuals and the nurses and carers cope compassionately and competently with some difficult and challenging behaviour from residents, my mother
in particular. Hazelwood is what other homes claim to be in their brochures, but sadly aren't when it comes to delivery. I have never had a moment of concern with Hazelwood's care for my mother. In my experience, you can't find better.

My mother has been a resident of Hazelwood for five and a half years. I have always found the staff to be caring and helpful. Despite my mother's dementia, she settled in quickly, unlike previous homes where she became upset and distressed.
The recent renovations have created a much improved environment

I have found the staff at this home excellent, very caring always ready to help the residents and family. They are very approachable and treat the residents with dignity and extreme kindness.
The facilities are excellent and the food first class. The manager knows all the residents by name and visits
them every morning and if he feels they need something it is done instantly.

Allison Pettican

I’ve had the privilege of managing care homes for 25 years, overseeing a range of care types including residential, nursing, dementia, mental health, palliative, complex, and learning disabilities care.


It’s an honour to care for residents at Hazelwood and support both their families and my dedicated staff team. Before becoming a Home Manager, I worked in various roles supporting vulnerable people and families. I take great pride in ensuring our residents receive high-quality care. Continuous learning and teamwork are essential in our field, and we strive to work together to provide the best possible care for your loved ones.

Anca has worked at Hazelwood as a Registered Nurse for just under 4 years and is now also our deputy manager. Anca has extensive experience, having worked for four years as a health care assistant looking after children with learning disabilities, as well as a health care assistant in the community and three years as a senior health care assistant in a residential home. Anca enjoys making a difference in her residents’ lives, helping and supporting them to ensure their needs are met, and seeing them smile.

Wilfredo Carbajal

Wilfredo has worked at Hazelwood for 9 years, previously working in Spain as a builder. When he first started working at Hazelwood, he was a Cleaner and Kitchen Assistant, however, when the role of Maintenance came up he felt it was perfect for him as he enjoys practical work and fixing things. Wilfredo is very happy in his job role as he is doing what he enjoys, t is very interesting, and every day is different. Wilfredo also likes working at Hazelwood as the Manager is supportive, and the staff is friendly.

Heidi joined the team here at Hazelwood Care Home in July 2023, having previously worked as an Activity Coordinator in other care homes. Heidi’s favourite part of her role is supporting the residents and seeing them enjoying games and activities, and the smiles on their faces.

Laijesh Bhaskaran

Laijesh has worked at Hazelwood for 7 ½ years and prior to this worked in factories and supermarkets. Laijesh started at Hazelwood in a domestic role, then as a kitchen assistant before progressing to the role of Cook. Laijesh likes his role as a Cook because he enjoys cooking and preparing food for people, and he likes Hazelwood because the staff is friendly and supportive.

Anchasa has worked at Hazelwood for 4 years with previous experience in Domestic and Kitchen Assistant roles and now as a Cook. Anchasa enjoys working at Hazelwood because the team of staff is so friendly and caring, and her manager is very supportive. She also enjoys her role because she loves to be busy, help people and make a difference in their lives.

Before moving to the UK and working at Hazelwood, Roxana worked in Spain doing several cleaning jobs and factory work. She then started working at Hazelwood in 2012 as a Cleaning/Kitchen Assistant before working in the Laundry. Roxana really enjoys her work; the pace of work suits her as I like to keep busy, and the staff and management are all friendly, and the home is very welcoming.

Indira joined our team in 2017 and prior to her role here, she worked in restaurant housekeeping for 8 years. Indira’s favourite part of her role is getting to know the residents and their families as well as working with her lovely colleagues.

Jake recently joined Hazelwood Care Home as part of the domestic team and has already made a positive impact. With previous experience in roofing, maintenance, and domestic roles within schools, Jake brings a practical skill set and a strong work ethic to his role.


He takes pride in keeping the home clean and welcoming, ensuring residents feel comfortable in their surroundings. Jake particularly enjoys chatting with residents during his day, finding those conversations to be the most rewarding part of his work.

Jill is one of our administrators at Hazelwood Care Home and has worked with us for nearly 12 years. She enjoys having a varied workload and meeting new residents and their families, doing whatever she can to support them.

Claire has joined us at Hazelwood Care Home as our Administrator, having previously worked as a solicitor and more recently in a primary school as a kitchen assistant.


She loves coming in to work and enjoys her role working in admin and reception as she loves getting to meet new people and working with the friendly staff.
