Although early days yet (it was the beginning of March when our relative was moved into Hazelwood), we are extremely pleased with the care and attention shown by all staff and personnel at the home. We looked at several nursing homes before deciding on Hazelwood and believe we have chosen the right one. All staff from the Manager through the carers, nurses, laundry, admin, activities coordinators, kitchen staff, cleaners - everyone, right down to the maintenance personnel are so lovely and friendly - we are welcomed whenever we visit. The care received by the residents (as witnessed by us) is second to none and the facilities are excellent. The home's communication with us is very good and we feel relaxed about leaving our family member there at the end of our visits.

My uncle has been in Hazelwood since mid January. He seems happy there and I have been generally impressed.
From my uncles perspective, he gets personal care from friendly staff who seem to engage in a professional yet friendly manner. The home is kept smart with comfortable ensuite rooms. From what I have seen of the food, it appears appetising and I know my uncle often has seconds!. The communal facilities are excellent with a cinema room as well as quieter lounges where residents can interact if they wish. Visiting times are flexible and visitors are made to feel welcome. In fact, it's not so much visiting my uncle in a home, it's visiting him in his home.

Finally, I would add that putting a relative in care is a new experience for me, the manager has been extremely helpful in explaining procedures, not only with the home but also those involving local authorities.

My father has been at Hazelwood for three months and this is my first experience of a residential nursing home. From the first day, the staff and management have done everything they can to see he is settled and content. Moving my father into Hazelwood was traumatic for my mother and every staff member has worked to ensure that she is reassured and happy with his care. Suffering from dementia and totally immobile has meant at times my father's behaviour has been challenging but he has been treated with kindness, reassurance and patience at all times. Staff take time to sit and chat to him whenever he needs that extra bit of care. The facilities at Hazelwood are excellent and friends and family are encouraged to visit at any time which is good for both my mother and father. The medical care provided by the staff and liaison with the local GP is exemplary and the true measure of Hazelwood is that every member of my family leaves after a visit knowing my father is in the best of hands.

The best care home, by a long way, that my mother has been in, and she has been in 11 over the years. At Hazelwood, they actually care for the residents as individuals and the nurses and carers cope compassionately and competently with some difficult and challenging behaviour from residents, my mother in particular. Hazelwood is what other homes claim to be in their brochures, but sadly aren't when it comes to delivery. I have never had a moment of concern with Hazelwood's care for my mother. In my experience, you can't find better.

My mother has been a resident of Hazelwood for five and a half years. I have always found the staff to be caring and helpful. Despite my mother's dementia, she settled in quickly, unlike previous homes where she became upset and distressed.

The recent renovations have created a much improved environment which I am sure is appreciated by many of the residents.

I have found the staff at this home excellent, very caring always ready to help the residents and family. They are very approachable and treat the residents with dignity and extreme kindness.

The facilities are excellent and the food first class. The manager knows all the residents by name and visits them every morning and if he feels they need something it is done instantly.

We are very satisfied with the complete care our mother received during her 18 months at Hazelwood. Mum sadly passed away this August after getting an infection which needed hospital care where she passed away. As a family, we wanted to express our gratitude for the excellent care she received and for the level of understanding and concern we received from the staff and management alike. As other reviews quote, no one is too busy to pop their head in and say hello and talk to us and mum. We always receive a nice welcome and a cup of tea. This has been a source of great comfort for us as a family as it is not an easy decision to leave a loved one in the care of others unless you are completely satisfied with the service. We wish the home all the best for its future and the new refurbishments which are so exciting for the residents. Thank you once again.

I am very pleased with the care my mum is receiving at Hazelwood Nursing Home. All the staff are very caring and very attentive and go out of their way to chat, cuddle and comfort Mum, especially if she gets distressed.

The food is very good and varied and extra food is always made available if Mum requires it. Her personal hygiene is very well cared for. The home generally has a very good atmosphere for residents and relatives visiting who are always made very welcome and I would, and have, recommended the home to other people.

Excellent home with staff that seem to genuinely care about their residents. From her very first day, Mum was welcomed, even having a cuppa and a piece of cake as soon as she arrived. We are really impressed with the paperwork which is always up-to-date and person-specific. The manager always makes time to talk to you, no matter how busy he is and all staff know Mum and her likes and dislikes. Every member of staff we have met have been friendly and approachable. It has never been easy knowing that Mum needs full-time care but we feel confident leaving her at Hazelwood and are very happy to have found this lovely home.

After looking at various homes for my 97-year-old mother, this particular home dealt with the issues my mother was suffering with. I found the staff very friendly and professional and helpful. The home was and is clean and is in a nice location. The managerial staff and admin have been a pleasure to deal with. My mother has improved no end since being a resident. I would recommend Hazelwood to anyone.

Having looked at several nursing homes in the area, we finally decided on Hazelwood. Our first impression was there were no unpleasant aromas in entering the building. Our father is well cared for and appears happy, his room is comfortable and clean. We receive monthly updates and are informed of any issues in between times. The food provided always looks appetizing and there is a visitors kitchen for making drinks and sneaking a biscuit. The staff are always cheerful and friendly to both visitors and residents. I would certainly recommend Hazelwood Nursing Home.

I cannot praise the manager and staff too highly. Nothing is too much trouble for them. They are always cheerful and happy between themselves apart from the residents which in turn helps the residents. My wife went in there unable to walk, feed herself or talk. She can now do all of these without assistance, thanks to the care she has received. If I ever have to go into a care home, I hope it will be Hazelwood. In addition and more importantly, my wife is very happy and regards the place as her home.

My mother spent 22 months in Hazelwood Nursing Home and from the time she entered until the day she died, she was treated with respect and dignity. As a family, we felt happy in the knowledge that Mum was safe and cared for. We had lots of difficult times but we were always supported by the staff and management. We also shared lots of happy moments with Mum and the staff ie birthdays. We feel lucky that we found Hazelwood and can't thank them enough. They have such a challenging job.
