Hazelwood Care Home, located in Longfield in the lovely north Kent countryside, is a purpose-built care home, dedicated to assisting residents in making the most of every day. Having opened in 2000 and renovated in 2019, Hazelwood is a modern home with two floors that have been specifically constructed to satisfy the needs of its residents.

Hazelwood Care Home offers residents exemplary standards of Dementia, Nursing, Residential and Respite Care. With a wide range of exceptional facilities, the home provides Dementia Care with nursing needs on the first floor in the Poppy Unit and general Nursing Care for elderly individuals on the ground floor in the Primrose Unit.

We are very satisfied with the complete care our mother received during her 18 months at Hazelwood. Mum sadly passed away this August after getting an infection which needed hospital care where she passed away. As a family, we wanted to express our gratitude for the excellent care she received and for
the level of understanding and concern we received from the staff and management alike. As other reviews quote, no one is too busy to pop their head in and say hello and talk to us and mum. We always receive a nice welcome and a cup of tea. This has been a source of great comfort for us as a family as it is not an easy decision to leave a loved one in the care of others unless you are completely satisfied with the service. We wish the home all the best for its future and the new refurbishments which are so exciting for the residents. Thank you once again.

I am very pleased with the care my mum is receiving at Hazelwood Nursing Home. All the staff are very caring and very attentive and go out of their way to chat, cuddle and comfort Mum, especially if she gets distressed.
The food is very good and varied and extra food is always made available if Mum
requires it. Her personal hygiene is very well cared for. The home generally has a very good atmosphere for residents and relatives visiting who are always made very welcome and I would, and have, recommended the home to other people.

Friendly staff who always listen to you. All staff, cleaners, nurses, chef, management involved with residents - all care and are very kind. Staff are professional but warm. Communication is clear and they keep you well informed. You always feel welcome. They were supportive and kind when mum died.

Excellent home with staff that seem to genuinely care about their residents. From her very first day, Mum was welcomed, even having a cuppa and a piece of cake as soon as she arrived. We are really impressed with the paperwork which is always up-to-date and person-specific. The manager always makes
time to talk to you, no matter how busy he is and all staff know Mum and her likes and dislikes. Every member of staff we have met have been friendly and approachable. It has never been easy knowing that Mum needs full-time care but we feel confident leaving her at Hazelwood and are very happy to have found this lovely home.

After looking at various homes for my 97-year-old mother, this particular home dealt with the issues my mother was suffering with. I found the staff very friendly and professional and helpful. The home was and is clean and is in a nice location. The managerial staff and admin have been a pleasure to
deal with. My mother has improved no end since being a resident. I would recommend Hazelwood to anyone.

Having looked at several nursing homes in the area, we finally decided on Hazelwood. Our first impression was there were no unpleasant aromas in entering the building. Our father is well cared for and appears happy, his room is comfortable and clean. We receive monthly updates and are informed of any
issues in between times. The food provided always looks appetizing and there is a visitors kitchen for making drinks and sneaking a biscuit. The staff are always cheerful and friendly to both visitors and residents. I would certainly recommend Hazelwood Nursing Home.

I cannot praise the manager and staff too highly. Nothing is too much trouble for them. They are always cheerful and happy between themselves apart from the residents which in turn helps the residents. My wife went in there unable to walk, feed herself or talk. She can now do all of these without assistance,
thanks to the care she has received. If I ever have to go into a care home, I hope it will be Hazelwood. In addition and more importantly, my wife is very happy and regards the place as her home.

My mother spent 22 months in Hazelwood Nursing Home and from the time she entered until the day she died, she was treated with respect and dignity. As a family, we felt happy in the knowledge that Mum was safe and cared for. We had lots of difficult times but we were always supported by the staff and
management. We also shared lots of happy moments with Mum and the staff ie birthdays. We feel lucky that we found Hazelwood and can't thank them enough. They have such a challenging job.

My husband spent 4 years 2 months in Hazelwood Nursing Home, Longfield. As a family, we were so very happy with the care provided. He remained in bed continually but never ever had a bed sore. His care from the lovely staff was nothing short of amazing.


The home is so well run. We would recommend

Thoroughly impressed by the quality of care, compassion and enthusiasm shown by all, yes all, members of staff. Nothing was too much trouble.


Not only was Mum looked after, but our family also during our visits. They do so much for all the residents, from outdoor functions to simple indoor activities.

Every time I visit my mother she is always happy and well cared for. The staff are very welcoming and helpful. I am happy with all the staff do for her. A lovely care home. The manager is always there to have a chat with anything I need to know. Always with a smile.

My husband and I visited a number of care homes unannounced prior to choosing Hazelwood. The administration gave us a comprehensive tour and explained the administration and assessment processes. We cannot praise the quality and professionalism of all the nursing and care staff sufficiently. My father,
who is nearly 93 years of age is so happy in their company and they give him all the time and patience required. I cannot remember him laughing so much for several years.

My aunt has resided at Hazelwood Nursing Home approximately 3-4 years. In all that time, I have never had to complain about care or cleanliness. The staff show true affection towards residents. When weather permitting, they go into the garden with sun hats, drinks and have various activities and parties
all year round. A wonderful home, just wish I had found it earlier.

From the moment my dad started to live at Hazelwood he was given total care and respect. The total professionalism that is shown by the staff is exceptional.
On the day that my Dad died, they were so considerate, of not only m but my Dad. They did small but very important little things that made me
feel better as my Dad passed..Small little details like putting a photo of dad's family on the pillow close to dad's face.I'm sure this would have been a comfort to him.
While we waited in his room the staff all came to see Dad, there wasn't anyone who didn't know dad or care about him.When the time finally came the staff were calm and caring and dignified.
I know this is a very personal review but, I want whoever is reading this to know that, as far as I am concerned this is a marvellous place for a member of your family to come to.

My husband has been resident at Hazelwood for the past 2 months and I am now confident that my selection of this home for him was well justified. I have observed that all residents are treated with compassion and dignity. When I and members of the family and our friends visit we made very welcome,
whatever time of the day it is. There is no restriction even if we arrive at meal times when we are always offered refreshment.

All members of management and staff that I have come into contact with are competent, friendly and very helpful. If I have any concerns in future I feel sure that they will be dealt with sympathetically.

My mother's been in Hazlewood now for three months and has settled in very well. Aa an early dementia patient the staff are very polite and friendly and very attentive to everybody. My mother is eating much better since she has been in Hazelwood. The meals are very good and varied to suit all. Overall

Allison Pettican

Job Title: Home Manager Joined: 2024

I’ve had the privilege of managing care homes for 25 years, overseeing a range of care types including residential, nursing, dementia, mental health, palliative, complex, and learning disabilities care.


It’s an honour to care for residents at Hazelwood and support both their families and my dedicated staff team. Before becoming a Home Manager, I worked in various roles supporting vulnerable people and families. I take great pride in ensuring our residents receive high-quality care. Continuous learning and teamwork are essential in our field, and we strive to work together to provide the best possible care for your loved ones.


I’m proud to lead the team at Hazelwood and grateful for the ongoing support from residents, families, and professionals. I look forward to the many great moments ahead.

Anca Serban

Anca has worked at Hazelwood as a Registered Nurse for just under 4 years and is now also our deputy manager. Anca has extensive experience, having worked for four years as a health care assistant looking after children with learning disabilities, as well as a health care assistant in the community and three years as a senior health care assistant in a residential home. Anca enjoys making a difference in her residents’ lives, helping and supporting them to ensure their needs are met, and seeing them smile.

Wilfredo has worked at Hazelwood for 9 years, previously working in Spain as a builder. When he first started working at Hazelwood, he was a Cleaner and Kitchen Assistant, however, when the role of Maintenance came up he felt it was perfect for him as he enjoys practical work and fixing things. Wilfredo is very happy in his job role as he is doing what he enjoys, t is very interesting, and every day is different. Wilfredo also likes working at Hazelwood as the Manager is supportive, and the staff is friendly.

Heidi joined the team here at Hazelwood Care Home in July 2023, having previously worked as an Activity Coordinator in other care homes. Heidi’s favourite part of her role is supporting the residents and seeing them enjoying games and activities, and the smiles on their faces.

Laijesh has worked at Hazelwood for 7 ½ years and prior to this worked in factories and supermarkets. Laijesh started at Hazelwood in a domestic role, then as a kitchen assistant before progressing to the role of Cook. Laijesh likes his role as a Cook because he enjoys cooking and preparing food for people, and he likes Hazelwood because the staff is friendly and supportive.

Anchasa has worked at Hazelwood for 4 years with previous experience in Domestic and Kitchen Assistant roles and now as a Cook. Anchasa enjoys working at Hazelwood because the team of staff is so friendly and caring, and her manager is very supportive. She also enjoys her role because she loves to be busy, help people and make a difference in their lives.

Before moving to the UK and working at Hazelwood, Roxana worked in Spain doing several cleaning jobs and factory work. She then started working at Hazelwood in 2012 as a Cleaning/Kitchen Assistant before working in the Laundry. Roxana really enjoys her work; the pace of work suits her as I like to keep busy, and the staff and management are all friendly, and the home is very welcoming.

Indira joined our team in 2017 and prior to her role here, she worked in restaurant housekeeping for 8 years. Indira’s favourite part of her role is getting to know the residents and their families as well as working with her lovely colleagues.

Jake recently joined Hazelwood Care Home as part of the domestic team and has already made a positive impact. With previous experience in roofing, maintenance, and domestic roles within schools, Jake brings a practical skill set and a strong work ethic to his role.


He takes pride in keeping the home clean and welcoming, ensuring residents feel comfortable in their surroundings. Jake particularly enjoys chatting with residents during his day, finding those conversations to be the most rewarding part of his work.

Jill is one of our administrators at Hazelwood Care Home and has worked with us for nearly 12 years. She enjoys having a varied workload and meeting new residents and their families, doing whatever she can to support them.

Claire has joined us at Hazelwood Care Home as our Administrator, having previously worked as a solicitor and more recently in a primary school as a kitchen assistant.


She loves coming in to work and enjoys her role working in admin and reception as she loves getting to meet new people and working with the friendly staff.
