Every member of staff we have met has been extremely friendly and helpful. Nothing has been too much trouble.
My friend seems to be very comfortable at Pilgrims, as do all the other residents.
The home seems to be kept clean and tidy.
It looks very festive at the moment and they seem to include the
residents in all the activities.

My sister hasn't been in this nursing home for long, but I have found the staff very friendly and kind. They always greet me with a smile. The care my sister gets is second to none, she is treated with kindness and the care they give to her personal needs is excellent.

Whilst my mother has only been here a short period of time she has settled in really well. The staff are kind caring and very friendly. They have managed to get her out of bed for dinner and activities which of course we like to see. Her room is pleasant and caters for her needs well. The nursing team
are very attentive if we raise any issues or concerns about mums health. Would like to see somewhere visitors could get a cup of tea as the kitchen staff are usually very busy. Most importantly our mum is content and loves all the staff which at the end of the day is all that matters.
Reply from Cara Lean, Manager at Pilgrims Way Nursing HomeWhat a lovely review, thank you so much for taking the time to write this. Its really nice to hear your feedback will passed over to them. Mum does like the activities and its great to see her getting involved in different ones each week.
I appreciate your feedback on tea & coffee and its something i can take back and have a think of how we could facilitate this request. Until then please do always ask us and we are happy to assist.

My mum was moved to Pilgrims Way after her previous care home was unable to care for her needs. She has been there since February 2025. She has a lovely room with en-suite toilet, and a little balcony. The staff are very polite, professional and caring. Nothing is too much trouble.

The comforting

thing for me is that mum likes them and it's good to see her having a laugh and joke with them.

I know she takes part in bingo and has started knitting again which is also nice to see. Recently they had a singer which mum also enjoyed. She is making friends with other residents.

Reply from Cara Lean, Manager at Pilgrims Way Nursing HomeThank you so very much for taking the time to send in a review. Mum does have a lovely room that she has put her personal touch on. The feedback on the staff is always great to read and i will be passing this over to them. Mum does love the activities and Bingo especially when she wins. Its not hard making friends with Mum she is lovely to anyone that sits next to her now she has her own chair she prefers to sit in, this is the sign residents have settled in well when they claim there own spot in the lounge.

The management nurses and carers are always kind and understanding of my mum's needs. They are also always willing to assist the family and offer assurance. Pilgrims Way made a difficult decision to move a loved one to a home easier to accept as we felt early on that she was in safe hands.
Reply from Cara Lean, Manager at Pilgrims Way Nursing HomeThank you very much for taking the time to send in a review. I will pass this over to the care team and once again thank you.

Pilgrims Way Nursing Home is well run with good standards of management in place and caring staff that look after the residents with dignity and support.. The cleanliness of the site is good and there are always plenty of activities provided at the carehome each month. Home cooked meals are also provided
every day with a choice of food and residents able to eat either in their rooms or the communal lounge as they wish.
Reply from Cara Lean, Manager at Pilgrims Way Nursing HomeThank you for taking the time to write your review. Its always so reassuring to read others feel we are running the Home to a good standard and they are happy with where there loved ones are living. I am always so proud to read the staff at Pilgrims Way look after the residents with dignity and help when needed. I will pass this over to the care team. We are lucky to have 2 great activities ladies who work very hard to make sure the residents are happy and doing something that keeps them active. The food is and always has been home cooked hearty meals which the residents do enjoy. Once again thank you for the review.

My Grandmother was moved to Pilgrims Way after a stint in hospital following a fall which resulted in a broken hip. All the staff have been great at caring for her and I've never doubted that they wouldn't got the extra mile to support her. Cara in particular has been great in offering my grandmother
a new room when one became available but not pushing her when she wasn't keen on moving.

These guys do a great job, starting with the overall sense of calm and wellbeing from the moment one enters the building. Security is evident without being a nuisance, so residents are clearly safe.
Unlike many other care homes, my father is cared for by a nucleus of people who know and understand
him well, dealing with the effects of dementia on a man who has never been easy at the best of times.
Cara, the manager, is exceptional, very perceptive and great with people. She is clearly the reason Pilgrims Way has such a good, caring team.
Reply from Cara Lean, Manager at Pilgrims Way Nursing HomeThank you very much for such a wonderful review. Its lovely to read you feel welcomed as soon as you come into Dads home. Thank you for the feedback on the care team, Dad does have his favourite carers and yes they have a good understanding of Dads needs. I am very humbled by your comments and i am lucky to have a great team that believe in high standards or care like myself, once again thank you and i will pass your feedback onto the team.

Mum settled quickly and is very happy. I feel confident she is safe and well looked after. She enjoys the activities such as bingo or crafts. It's great that we can visit at whatever time suits us and are made to feel welcome. There's always space to park on site, which eliminates the stress of trying
to find a space elsewhere so near to town. The staff are always popping into her room to check she's OK or for a chat. I'm pleased we chose Pilgrims Way for mum.

As I could no longer look after my husband, I went to Pilgrims Way to view, I was very impressed of the cleanliness, no foul smells, even now after weeks of visiting. The care staff are wonderful, very helpful, careful and always pleasant. As I don't have my own transport, I found it quite easy to get
to Pilgrims Way by public transport numbers 71 - 72 - 60. There's always something for the residents to do if they want to. Can't praise the staff enough.

My sister has been in Pilgrims Way for more than two years now bedbound, and with reduced capacity. She was moved to a ground floor room for safety in case of emergency. She now has a lovely view of trees and sky and the sense of life outside, and behind her, the murmur of life from the day room. (Sadly
she can't participate in activities - too much stimulation. She enjoys her meal, sends me away so she can concentrate! I feel she is in very good hands. Some of the staff go the extra mile to form relationships.

A little disappointed with some of the teatime fare.

Mum has been a resident for 5 years, she has dementia and at times is more responsive to the staff than myself. She is very well cared for and the staff are very friendly. The nurses advise me by phone of any changes in her health and update me following visits by the doctor.

Both my mother and father are residents at this care home. My mother since early July 2025 and my father joining her a few weeks after. They are 97yo and 92yo both bed bound but with varying needs. My father has dementia and my mother has only limited use of her left arm and beyond that no ability
to use limbs.
I have cared for them these past 6 years at their home and as their respective conditions deteriorated social services and the NHS both decided they required care homes.
I cannot stress enough how good Pilgrims Way, Cara its manager and her staff are! They have showed tremendous compassion and a level of professionalism that goes way beyond the extra mile! Its upon their efforts that my parents are in a room together and can continue to live together after 70 years plus marriage.
I have absolutely no hesitation in recommending Pilgrims Way and feel very fortunate my family are residents

My Aunt has been consistently well cared for during her time at Pilgrims and has recently expressed that she is happy. She says that the food is good and that ALL of the staff are kind to her. Several spend extra time stopping to talk to her which is especially important due to the fact that I live
at a distance and cannot visit frequently. Whenever she has needed medical attention it has been speedily provided and a report given to me by phone. The staff have consistently treated me with helpfulness and courtesy whenever I have been in contact.

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.4 (9.352) out of 10 for Pilgrims Way Nursing Home is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 4.4 out of 5 from 34 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 5.0 out of 5 from 31 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.352 for Pilgrims Way Nursing Home is calculated as follows: ( (251 Excellents x 5) + (103 Goods x 4) + (10 Satisfactorys x 3) + (1 Poors x 2) + (33 Very Poors x 1) ) ÷ 398 Ratings = 4.352
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 5 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Pilgrims Way Nursing Home is based on 31 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 20 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews, 0.05 Points for the next five Positive Reviews, and finally 0.025 Points for the next ten Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.050, 7th = 0.050, 8th = 0.050, 9th = 0.050, 10th = 0.050, 11th = 0.025, 12th = 0.025, 13th = 0.025, 14th = 0.025, 15th = 0.025, 16th = 0.025, 17th = 0.025, 18th = 0.025, 19th = 0.025, 20th = 0.025) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 = 4
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 76 registered maximum number of service users is 15.2, which has been reached with 31 Positive reviews. Points = 1
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
