My mother has been a resident at Priory Mews Care Home for over 8 years as an advanced dementia sufferer and my father was admitted in March 2016 as a palliative care resident and sadly passed away at the end of March.

Both of my parents have received excellent care at Priory Mews Care Home. The

staff, nurses and carers are friendly, professional and most of all, caring, not just to their guests and patients but also to the relatives and visitors. They are extremely sensitive to your situation and take great care to help the residents and visitors feel at home and welcome.

Good care offered and staff friendly and approachable. Sometimes difficult to keep track of personal possessions which are difficult to label e.g. spectacles, walking sticks. Possibly drinks could be available more frequently. The resident is very happy here.

The staff are very friendly and helpful and the unit is kept very clean and tidy. I don't worry about my mum because we know she is cared for as it is home from home to her. As far as I can tell owing to her dementia she seems very happy in herself.

Sadly my wife had to be admitted to the care home in January 2016 as I could not continue to look after her at home following her diagnosis of cancer.
The staff were brilliant with her and did all they could for her and me whenever I visited. Nothing was too much trouble. They were all kind and gentle
and made things a little easier for me at such a sad time.

My mum was admitted to the home in January 2016. The staff were amazing, caring and happy to do anything that was needed for her. She always told me that she was well looked after and loved. Sadly she passed away on 28th February, however she could not have had better care and attention in her last
few weeks of life. Thank you to the fantastic staff of Priory Mews Care Home.

As a dementia unit I can stay the standard and the staff are very caring and hard working towards residents, sometimes there may be difficult situations with residents, but the staff support and care is marvelous. The residents are individuals and may need different approach towards them, some residents
are restless, agitated, also they do not know what they are doing or know their surroundings, as an example, my husband has settled quickly at the dementia unit, he is happy.

Current Review Score: 9.5 (9.500)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.5 (9.500) out of 10 for Priory Mews Care Home is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 4.6 out of 5 from 27 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 4.9 out of 5 from 27 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.635 for Priory Mews Care Home is calculated as follows: ( (208 Excellents x 5) + (94 Goods x 4) + (10 Satisfactorys x 3) ) ÷ 312 Ratings = 4.635
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 4.865 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Priory Mews Care Home is based on 27 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 20 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews, 0.05 Points for the next five Positive Reviews, and finally 0.025 Points for the next ten Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.050, 7th = 0.050, 8th = 0.050, 9th = 0.050, 10th = 0.050, 11th = 0.025, 12th = 0.025, 13th = 0.025, 14th = 0.025, 15th = 0.025, 16th = 0.025, 17th = 0.025, 18th = 0.025, 19th = 0.025, 20th = 0.025) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 = 4
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 156 registered maximum number of service users is 31.2. 27 Positive Reviews ÷ 31.2 = 0.865
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
