Newly opened in 2024 the home boasts an additional 16 residential ensuite bedrooms with beautiful communal living and dining and the opportunity for residents and their loved ones to access a private dining space.

The minute you walk into Barchester Winchester House Care Home, you feel like you are walking into a five-star hotel, you’re greeted by very happy, welcoming and helpful staff.
The whole care home is decorated and furnished to a high standard. All of the corridors, community areas and furnishings
are spotless.
My mum has been a dementia resident at Winchester House for the last five months and the care and attention she receives from the carers and nursing staff is excellent, they are all so dedicated. It took Mum a while to settle in but the staff are all so understanding and patient they helped her greatly. She is now much happier. Her room is nicely furnished, warm and is kept tidy and cleaned daily. The food is of a high standard.
I feel very happy leaving my mum knowing that she is safe and well looked after.
Winchester House is a well-run, professional and happy environment. All staff, from management, nursing, carers, cleaners etc., are all very professional, happy, helpful and caring.

The family's experience has generally been very good. We are very happy that Mum is in a safe environment. The staff seem friendly and kind and always keen to help if asked.
My only criticism is that the furniture and carpet in Mum's room are rather dated, albeit still serviceable.

My 91-year-old mother has a four-week stay at Winchester House after a hip replacement. All of the staff were amazing in their care and attention to her. Nothing was too much trouble for them. I have nothing but praise and admiration for them. The food was excellent. A varied activity plan was brilliant.

We arrived at Barchester Winchester House Care Centre with some trepidation as we had pre-conceived ideas of care homes.
This was quickly dispelled by the staff at reception who were friendly and helpful. A great front end to a business. This care and attention to detail were noted throughout the induction
process. Help was given at every turn and no question was too much to be answered fully.
With a month gone by the initial enthusiasm to be a person-centred organisation has not diminished.
The staff are kind, caring and understanding.
As a husband, I have to thank the staff for their reassurance and help in this difficult time.

My wife has resided at Barchester Winchester House Care Centre for seventeen years, she is now 64. During her stay, her dignity has always been maintained. Any medical issue has swiftly been identified, resolved and concluded with minimal stress and disruption to my wife.
My wife is always kept clean
with frequent showers and/or washing and kept odour-free with regular pad changes and bed linen. The food and drink provided are of a very high standard with lots of choice. My wife is a private person but the activities team encourages her to take part in certain activities. She has monthly visits to a local church for prayer cake and coffee. Also, have musicians and plays visiting the home for residents' entertainment.
My daughter and I are very pleased with the aforementioned high standard being maintained all these years which has certainly enhanced my wife's quality of life, enjoyment and general well-being.
We would certainly recommend this home to anyone if you intend to place your loved one into care.

My mother is over 98 years old. I think she suffers from a lack of interaction. I am the only family member and visit as often as I can (three/four times a week). My mother is bed-bound and therefore takes no part in any of the activities. Her eyesight and hearing are fading. Her only remaining enjoyment
is her television which I admit she has quite loud. Carers frequently turn the volume down. When I have visited, I have seen the food left on her table but Mum is still reclined in her bed and unable to reach or cut the food. Meals have been left whilst she is asleep so that when she wakes up it is cold and inedible.

An emergency arose which required my immediate admission to hospital. The manager of the care home agreed to collect my wife for when I am the cover and did so the next morning. My wife is 88 years old, blind and of limited movement. Ten weeks in the home and she is comfortable, happy, well fed and
secure. She dines and chats to other residents, listens to music (and sings along) and is better cared for than when she is at home with me.

I want to thank the team at Winchester House for their support for my father. He has Parkinson's Disease and cancer, and we found that we needed urgent respite care for him during a sudden crisis.
What stands out most of all is the whole team's responsive, prompt and efficient communication and their
willingness to engage with my father and my family with enormous adaptability and flexibility. Plus, a genuine attitude of caring and kindness is evident from the moment one walks through the door. From a desperate and urgent situation, we are now confident that my father is receiving exactly the care that he needs at a very difficult time for him in his progressive illness.

My friend and neighbour went there for respite care a couple of months ago.
She is blind and therefore needs help with everyday tasks.
The care staff are very attentive and kind, friendly with the residents and visitors alike, my friend loves staying there.
I am always greeted cordially when I visit
and get informed of my friend's well-being nearly straight away.
The residents are well looked after, the facilities are modern, comfortable and clean. The surroundings are beautiful and well cared for.

There is very little stimulation for the residents in La Farage Unit. Even the wifi for the residents in that unit is sketchy at best. All look great in the hall with a list of things that should be happening but the reality is very different.

Our dearest mum was transferred to Winchester House from the hospital for end-of-life palliative care. As a family, we cannot begin to express how amazing the whole experience was considering the sad circumstances.
The staff were all wonderful and treated our mother with such care and kindness.
Their
skills and understanding of her particular dementia were exemplary and this helped us come to terms with the rapid deterioration of her condition.
Everyone in the home was friendly, reassuring and supportive- always with a welcoming smile.
The home and its setting are beautiful, with a feeling of calm and comfort.
We would highly recommend this wonderful care home.

My father went directly into the home from the hospital after a series of falls caused by his Lewy Body dementia. Sadly he died after only one month in Winchester House Care Home. However, the home made an excellent impression even in such a short time. Dad's comfort and dignity were paramount. All
of the staff were kind, respectful, supportive and very caring. On behalf of the whole family, I would like to thank Winchester House for their hard work.

My brother and I searched a lot of care homes and this is by far the best. The staff are wonderful, knowledgeable and friendly. The residents are very happy in Marconi and welcome new residents and family and friends.

My mother is bedridden due to arthritis, on a pureed diet although she eats virtually nothing and suffers from dementia. The staff who are friendly and helpful, look after her well. The care is documented and they are aware of the need for hydration. Someone deals with her facial hair and paints her
fingernails which is appreciated. She is kept as comfortable as possible and is well monitored. Her room is well proportioned with views over the garden. The overall impression is of a superior hotel. Unfortunately, my mother is unable to appreciate the excellent menu and various activities but I am glad she stays there.

Hi, my name is Liza, and I am the General Manager here at Winchester House. Welcome to our website!


I have a degree in Nursing and have been a registered nurse for about 30 years. I also have a diploma in Healthcare Leadership and Management level 5.


I came over here in 2000 from the Philippines as an overseas nurse. I have a variety of experience in supporting the young physically disabled/neuro-disability, palliative care, elderly care and dementia care. I have worked on different levels of care and management, including healthcare assistant, nurse trainee, staff nurse, unit manager and deputy manager, general manager until I became the General Manager of Winchester House in January 2020.


I have excellent leadership skills and I am very passionate in what I do. I am highly motivated and challenges interest me. I am an open, honest and approachable person.


At Winchester House, I lead the team with integrity and I motivate and empower people to embrace the change with me in achieving success and will continue to look for ways to improve the life of our residents. I always go the extra mile to ensure that residents get the best quality care we can offer.

Peter has worked for Barchester Healthcare since 2009 and has been the Head of Maintenance at Winchester House for almost as long. In addition to completing routine maintenance within the home, there are often special projects that need to be managed, such as equipment breaking down that requires fixing as soon as possible.
I am also responsible for fire safety within the home.

Hello! My name is Joie, and I am the La Farge Unit Nurse Manager here at Winchester House. Originally from the Philippines, I earned my nursing degree there and was qualified in 2009. In the years that followed, I gained experience as both a private nurse and a nurse in an intensive care unit. In 2022, I came to the UK. My skills, knowledge and professionalism assist me greatly in my work here at Winchester House, where my responsibilities include interacting with clients and staff and delivering high-quality care to the people who live here. I enjoy leading my team by setting a positive example for them to follow. As the La Farge Unit Nurse Manager, my unwavering commitment to providing compassionate and effective care to our residents is what drives me each day. I began my career in healthcare in 2013,after being 8 years a primary teacher. I joined Winchester House as a Healthcare Assistant. During my time in this role, I quickly developed a passion for providing care and recognised that I could contribute more significantly to the well-being of others. Driven by the desire to expand my skills and knowledge, I made the decision to pursue a nursing career and enrolled in nursing school in 2015.


After three years of rigorous study and hands-on training, I completed my nursing qualification and returned to Winchester House in September 2018, eager to put my education into practice. Since re-joining the team, I have continually grown within the organisation, and in 2020, I was proud to be promoted to the role of Senior Nurse.


Throughout my career, I have been committed to delivering the highest standard of care, fostering a supportive environment for both staff and residents, and continuously advancing my professional development. My journey reflects my dedication to improving patient outcomes and making a positive impact on the healthcare community.

I got my profession back and started working as a nurse march 2024 onwards.
