Wilmington Manor provides a peaceful place for residents to receive residential and nursing care in a safe and homely environment. People requiring respite, convalescence and palliative care are also welcomed into the home.

Converted and extended from a manor house, residents keen on gardening are encouraged to participate, whether lightly or regularly depending on how they please.

The home has two lounges to choose from at the home, as well as the dining room, and if they prefer residents are free to dine in the comfort of their own room. Seasonal menus are created by the home’s chef who understands the needs and tastes of each individual.

There’s a real sense of community at the home. The staff work to discover what residents enjoy doing and the home's social calendar is organised around those interests. Dedicated activity coordinators help ensure residents are able to pursue their hobbies and interests, as well as organising a range of activities which include bingo, quizzes, flower arranging and music sessions, there is so much for residents to enjoy. Regular trips out are also enjoyed as are shopping trips and themed monthly events.

She was well cared for by everyone especially two members of staff in particular.

My dad has been in the home for 11 years now - he gets 24 hour care that is faultless. All Staff are always helpful and welcoming, including the heads of departments.
I cannot recommend this home enough to others. I am very happy knowing I can leave my Dad well cared for.

Whilst I appreciate that the home has a duty of care it can be a bit of a restriction as I am quite mobile. It took some time to adjust from living in a home alone. I must say that I feel well cared for and am quite happy/content. All the staff are excellent carrying out their with care/consideration
to the residents. Always there when needed with a very friendly/ helpful attitude. My family are pleased that I am looked after.

Mum has settled in very well. She always looks very clean and cared for. She celebrated her 95th birthday in the home, and had a lovely day. We are always made to feel very welcome whenever we visit her. We are very impressed with the level of her care.

I have noticed an improvement in several areas so far this month. Very happy with the meeting updates.
I would suggest a carer to be in the activity room every day, including weekends. Not all residents can use neck or wrist alarms, and no resident would be able to reach the wall units.

My dad was sadly only in the home for a short while, but he was cared for in a professional and friendly manner. The staff: The Manager, the Deputy Manager, the carers along with all the other members of staff were very helpful and did all they could to help my Dad and support us. My mum moved in at
the same time as my Dad and she is doing very well under their care. The team have been understanding and attentive to Mum's needs. The home is very clean and has a homely atmosphere, and always welcomes us as visitors at any time of the day. The food is good and there are some lovely gardens and activities to take part in.

All mum's needs are seen to, and she is cared for in first class. She had a great day with the staff on her birthday. The home is very clean. The food is first class. My mum is showered daily, so she is always clean.

My mother resided in Wilmington for the last ten months and I cannot fault the wonderful care she received. There is a warm atmosphere in the home and the staff are kind, attentive and sensitive to everyone's needs.
There is a varied and full range of activities available, the communication app is
very useful, and the staff go above and beyond to make the residents and their visiting families feel cared for and welcome. The staff at Wilmington are extremely respectful and operate in a very professional and transparent way.

Please do not put your loved one in this home. My poor mother had diabetes and after her stroke she was on level 5 'soft moist diet' as she couldn't swallow properly. On her first night, the nurse served her sandwiches and Mum started choking - my sister said she couldn't eat that kind of food. The
nurse proceeded to look at the notes and asked if she had diabetes and it was the first red flag as it was clear the nurse had not yet read Mum's medical history. Twice she was admitted to Hospital due to high glucose emergencies from the chocolate mousses she had. I discovered an abscess the size of a tennis ball, Paramedics told us she was close to developing sepsis. I discovered the abscess at 3.30pm and Management said that the carer had in fact discovered 'that same morning' but didn't have time to alert the nurse on duty. Surgeons said for an abscess to grow to that size takes weeks if not months! It's something you could not miss if she was receiving appropriate personal care.

Dad spent 5 weeks in Wilmington Manor for respite care. He had spent just over 2 months prior to that in hospital following a fall (resulting in an arm break) and was rapidly deteriorating. We (the family) were faced with a choice of an Assessment Bed where medical staff would assess his needs following
which a Nursing Home would have most likely been his destination or trialing him at home with a Care Package. We decided to send Dad to Wilmington Manor in the hope that he would improve mentally and physically and then would be better placed to move back home. The improvement was astonishing. He loved the meals and started to put on weight. The staff were absolutely brilliant and we built a good relationship with them all. While Dad was in the care home he met 2 other residents who used to go to Wilmington Manor a couple of times a year (for respite care) and I am not surprised. We will stay in touch with the staff and if Dad needs some respite care in the future, we will know where to go!

My mum went into this care home in January 2024. I can honestly, genuinely say it has become better and better as the months went on. More staff attending and responding to needs. Always friendly and willing to assist. Activities are very good. Even though my mum doesn't participate as she has late-stage
dementia and stays in her room. I often pop down into the lounge and sit and watch. My dog comes in too and residents love stroking him. My sister and I are very pleased with how the house is run. After initial reservations, all this has been reduced to zero.

I looked at several homes when looking for respite care for my aunt but was instantly drawn to the warmth and homely feel of Wilmington Manor. She has now been a permanent resident for 8 months and all her many care needs have been met in a kind and respectful way. There is also an endless amount of
activities and entertainment on offer to keep residents engaged and happy. The staff at the home are warm, friendly and supportive to the residents and their relatives. I have found the relatives gateway a great way to keep track of how my aunt is doing on the days I am unable to visit. I have always found it easy to communicate with staff and there is always someone to talk to or help with any aspect of my aunt’s care. I would not hesitate to recommend Wilmington Manor to anyone looking for care for their loved one.

5* all throughout. Having a friend or relative in a care home is extremely stressful but if I had to pick a care home it would be this one. There is a lot more here than care they generally interact with residents and really do care about them and have fun with them.

My wife has been a resident of Wilmington Manor for around nine months. In that time our experience has been superb. She is well cared for with any care or medical issues being dealt with immediately. Any such issues are swiftly communicated to me as her husband. She enjoys every meal and we are always
impressed with the choice of good food. Welcoming staff are friendly with good interpersonal skills in dealing with residents and their visitors.


With a wide range of activities such as exercise, painting, craft work and fabric work, the residents have the opportunity to rekindle long-forgotten skills. Some activities are conducted by visiting 'experts' who are excellent at considering the needs of their audience. Entertainment is provided a couple of times a month and proves very popular with residents. The gardens are very well kept and when the weather permits form an excellent backdrop for activities. A well-managed home, I cannot recommend Willmington Manor highly enough.

Excellent care given to my mother. Staff very friendly and respectful. My only regret is that we didn’t find this home sooner. Unfortunately, she was only there for a couple of months before she sadly passed away. My mother was very happy there. The food was very good and lovely views from the dining
room into the garden. Highly recommend.

Mum has been a resident at Wilmington Manor for several years now. Bearing in mind some of the worrying stories you hear on the news about other care homes, during the time she has been there, I have never once had any concerns about her safety. Mum is always treated with dignity and compassion. All
of the staff (from all disciplines) are friendly and engaged with the residents and relatives. The recent refurbishment works have really lifted the ambience of the building, and the garden is also well cared for. The introduction of the IT system, which documents the care Mum has received every day is brilliant – I can log in and see exactly how she’s been (a particular benefit when she recently needed to be monitored more regularly than normal). Nowhere is ever going to be the same as home, but if a care home is required, I would certainly recommend Wilmington Manor. Thank you to everybody there.
