Wilmington Manor provides a peaceful place for residents to receive residential and nursing care in a safe and homely environment. People requiring respite, convalescence and palliative care are also welcomed into the home.

Converted and extended from a manor house, residents keen on gardening are encouraged to participate, whether lightly or regularly depending on how they please.

The home has two lounges to choose from at the home, as well as the dining room, and if they prefer residents are free to dine in the comfort of their own room. Seasonal menus are created by the home’s chef who understands the needs and tastes of each individual.

There’s a real sense of community at the home. The staff work to discover what residents enjoy doing and the home's social calendar is organised around those interests. Dedicated activity coordinators help ensure residents are able to pursue their hobbies and interests, as well as organising a range of activities which include bingo, quizzes, flower arranging and music sessions, there is so much for residents to enjoy. Regular trips out are also enjoyed as are shopping trips and themed monthly events.

Overall Experience 5.0 out of 5
My husband was a resident of Wilmington Manor for a year until his death in August 2018. Throughout that time we were both very happy with the care and attention he received and this helped him to face his inevitable death with contentment and serenity. The fact that he was able to achieve this was
due in no small part to the staff of Wilmington Manor. He was an independent man and they never made him feel any less, never made him feel humiliated, dependant or reduced in individuality but always cared with compassion and dignity. I can’t mention individuals but must comment on those who saw and felt his pain and helped to ease it; those who brought the outside inside with their conversation; those who ensured his personality was respected in such things as what he ate and how he kept his room. These things may seem small but when your world is reduced to one room they are very important. We were very lucky in our choice of home and would recommend Wilmington without reservation.

My mother has been at Wilmington Manor for two happy years. All the carers that work there speak fondly of mum and show her great kindness. I am very pleased with the excellent care she gets. I went to the garden party/fete that The Manor staff put on. It was a lovely day, with an ice cream van and
various stalls and entertainment. All afternoon the staff walked around to see that everybody was having a good time. I have already booked the date to go next year.
Reply from Gabriella Mills, Customer Adviser at Wilmington Manor Care HomeThank you for your review of Wilmington Manor Care Home, we are pleased to hear that you had a positive experience when attending the fete at our home. We appreciate your comments on the staff and the entertainment put on for the residents and glad you will be visiting us again. Delighted to have an en-suite room with such a comfy armchair. The weather was such that we could sit out in the garden under an umbrella.
The member of staff in charge of organising activities for us worked very hard and most people joined in some of the time.
Her efforts for St George's Day are
to be especially commended.

Dad stayed at Wilmington Manor for nearly a year. He found the home to be very comfortable, relaxed and certainly enjoyed the lovely food to eat. The family and other visitors were always made to feel welcome and involved in Dad’s ongoing care. Although it was difficult for Dad to participate in the
activities and social groups provided, he was always present and part of the atmosphere. Senior staff was always approachable and the hands-on day to day care staff always had great attention to detail with Dads individual needs.
Dad’s end of life was dignified and the 24 hour attention he received was both professional and personal. The family were supported and felt free to find solace in the staff and the care home even after Dad's funeral.
In summary, the care home and its staff were conscientious and compassionate in their caring vocation.

I have always felt that my mum is in a safe, secure environment and generally well cared for which is extremely important for our family and our peace of mind. The home offers a good selection of activities for the residents (even if my mum personally is not able to undertake many of them).
I am always
welcomed warmly by everyone, be they carers, administrators, ancillary staff or nurses. The home is well maintained inside and out, and I particularly like the garden areas. Over the time that my mum has been a resident at Wilmington Manor, the staff have got to know her needs and much of this is due to many of them having been there ever since my mum became a resident. The past 2 years since I retired, I generally see my mum most days so I feel that I can speak with authority about the level and standard of the care home
Reply from Jayne Duck, Customer services administrator at Wilmington Manor Care HomeThank you for your review. I'm so glad to hear that you have peace of mind knowing that your mum is safe and well cared for. It is lovely to know that your mum is able to join in with some of the activities.

After a few teething problems at the beginning, things settled down. She liked the food and the room was certainly clean and tidy. Two minor rings went missing but could have dropped off when she lost weight. Seemed cheerful in difficult circumstances.

For the last eleven months of her long life, mum was always treated with care, respect, dignity and love right to the end of her days. Mum was happy and enjoyed the company and friends she made, she never regretted moving into Wilmington Manor. Food was good and very regular and her room was always
clean. Staff were always helpful and willing to make time to talk to family and communication was good. Caring support was given to Mum and our family during her last weeks. This was invaluable to the family and ensured we made the right choices for mum at that difficult time, as a result, it gave mum a peaceful departing in a caring and loving environment.

Current Review Score: 9.5 (9.483)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.5 (9.483) out of 10 for Wilmington Manor Care Home is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 4.6 out of 5 from 16 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 4.9 out of 5 from 15 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.608 for Wilmington Manor Care Home is calculated as follows: ( (128 Excellents x 5) + (43 Goods x 4) + (15 Satisfactorys x 3) ) ÷ 186 Ratings = 4.608
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 4.875 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Wilmington Manor Care Home is based on 15 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 20 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews, 0.05 Points for the next five Positive Reviews, and finally 0.025 Points for the next ten Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.050, 7th = 0.050, 8th = 0.050, 9th = 0.050, 10th = 0.050, 11th = 0.025, 12th = 0.025, 13th = 0.025, 14th = 0.025, 15th = 0.025, 16th = 0.025, 17th = 0.025, 18th = 0.025, 19th = 0.025, 20th = 0.025) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 = 3.875
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 50 registered maximum number of service users is 10, which has been reached with 15 Positive reviews. Points = 1
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
