Wilmington Manor provides a peaceful place for residents to receive residential and nursing care in a safe and homely environment. People requiring respite, convalescence and palliative care are also welcomed into the home.

Converted and extended from a manor house, residents keen on gardening are encouraged to participate, whether lightly or regularly depending on how they please.

The home has two lounges to choose from at the home, as well as the dining room, and if they prefer residents are free to dine in the comfort of their own room. Seasonal menus are created by the home’s chef who understands the needs and tastes of each individual.

There’s a real sense of community at the home. The staff work to discover what residents enjoy doing and the home's social calendar is organised around those interests. Dedicated activity coordinators help ensure residents are able to pursue their hobbies and interests, as well as organising a range of activities which include bingo, quizzes, flower arranging and music sessions, there is so much for residents to enjoy. Regular trips out are also enjoyed as are shopping trips and themed monthly events.

I looked at several homes when looking for respite care for my aunt but was instantly drawn to the warmth and homely feel of Wilmington Manor. She has now been a permanent resident for 8 months and all her many care needs have been met in a kind and respectful way. There is also an endless amount of
activities and entertainment on offer to keep residents engaged and happy. The staff at the home are warm, friendly and supportive to the residents and their relatives. I have found the relatives gateway a great way to keep track of how my aunt is doing on the days I am unable to visit. I have always found it easy to communicate with staff and there is always someone to talk to or help with any aspect of my aunt’s care. I would not hesitate to recommend Wilmington Manor to anyone looking for care for their loved one.

5* all throughout. Having a friend or relative in a care home is extremely stressful but if I had to pick a care home it would be this one. There is a lot more here than care they generally interact with residents and really do care about them and have fun with them.
Reply from Eden Tomlinson, Customer Service Adviser at Wilmington Manor Care HomeThank you for your kind words, It is always nice to hear from friends feeling like their loved one is cared for and looked after. We hope to continue providing them with the best possible care.

Review from Chris H (Husband of Resident) published on 2 November 2023 Submitted via Website • Report
Overall Experience 5.0 out of 5
My wife has been a resident of Wilmington Manor for around nine months. In that time our experience has been superb. She is well cared for with any care or medical issues being dealt with immediately. Any such issues are swiftly communicated to me as her husband. She enjoys every meal and we are always
impressed with the choice of good food. Welcoming staff are friendly with good interpersonal skills in dealing with residents and their visitors.

With a wide range of activities such as exercise, painting, craft work and fabric work, the residents have the opportunity to rekindle long-forgotten skills. Some activities are conducted by visiting 'experts' who are excellent at considering the needs of their audience. Entertainment is provided a couple of times a month and proves very popular with residents. The gardens are very well kept and when the weather permits form an excellent backdrop for activities. A well-managed home, I cannot recommend Willmington Manor highly enough.

Reply from Grace Langfield, Customer Service Adviser at Wilmington Manor Care HomeThank you for your lovely review. It is really nice to hear words such as "superb", "friendly" and "excellent" being used to describe both the staff at the home, as well as the activities and gardens. We are pleased you feel so comfortable having your Wife in our home, and hope to continue providing her with the best possible care.

Excellent care given to my mother. Staff very friendly and respectful. My only regret is that we didn’t find this home sooner. Unfortunately, she was only there for a couple of months before she sadly passed away. My mother was very happy there. The food was very good and lovely views from the dining
room into the garden. Highly recommend.

Mum has been a resident at Wilmington Manor for several years now. Bearing in mind some of the worrying stories you hear on the news about other care homes, during the time she has been there, I have never once had any concerns about her safety. Mum is always treated with dignity and compassion. All
of the staff (from all disciplines) are friendly and engaged with the residents and relatives. The recent refurbishment works have really lifted the ambience of the building, and the garden is also well cared for. The introduction of the IT system, which documents the care Mum has received every day is brilliant – I can log in and see exactly how she’s been (a particular benefit when she recently needed to be monitored more regularly than normal). Nowhere is ever going to be the same as home, but if a care home is required, I would certainly recommend Wilmington Manor. Thank you to everybody there.
Reply from Grace Langfield, Customer Service Adviser at Wilmington Manor Care HomeThank you for taking the time to leave such a lovely review. We are so pleased to hear you have felt so at ease with the care Mum has had throughout the years, and it is especially nice to hear words such as "compassion" and "safe" used to describe our home and the care our staff provide. We will certainly pass your comments on to the manager.

Mum came here about 6 weeks ago for a 2 week trial, and has decided to stay permanently. This is a lovely home with a real family feel for residents and visiting relatives.
The care given to Mum so far has been excellent, nothing seems to be too much trouble. All the staff seem to support each other
to ensure the residents are well looked after. They try to make the activities inclusive for as many as possible and work so hard to do so.
The management team are approachable and listens to ideas and suggestions, implementing those that make improvements. On the odd occasion when a problem does arise and it is brought to their attention, they are very quick to act and put things right.
Well done and thank you to everyone at Wilmington Manor.

I was worried about my mum when she came to the nursing home as she previously lived in her home for 66 years. However, it was not long before I realised she was happy here and that the staff are very caring and look after her extremely well. The care is second to none and I am very happy that my mum
is well cared for and her needs are well kept.

My mum has been in Wilmington Manor for over 4 years, she has been well looked after. The staff all know her and her likes and dislikes, A few months ago Mum said she felt safe in there, she always enjoys her food if she does not like what is on offer the kitchen staff will always cook something else
she likes. We are very pleased overall.

First impressions are friendly and very welcoming and each and every person can not do enough for my mum, they try their hardest to make the experience of being a resident life enrichment, it is important for residents to feel at home, it is really a home from home. Wilmington Manor caters for every
single requirement. The food is exceptional, freshly prepared and cooked on a daily basis, the menu is quite extensive and has a lot of options, a very clean environment and lots of natural daylight.

My mother was discharged directly from hospital to Wilmington Manor as she required 24-hour nursing support that could not be provided at her previous care home. In the last 6 months, she has shown significant improvement due to the ongoing care and support by the always professional staff. Initially
confined to bed on medical advice, she is now able to be assisted into a wheeled chair to participate in activities and to dine with other residents. I am entirely happy with every aspect of her care.

We managed to get my dad into Wilmington Manor quickly after we viewed it for him so that he could come out of hospital, but still receive the nursing care he needed as he was no longer able to look after himself and go back home. They paid good attention to him and tried to help get him involved with
the activities, shaved him, fed him when he needed it and made sure he was dressed in clean clothes every day. He was bed bound and the situation changed during his stay with various needs of his but they adapted to what he needed with no issues. He didn't get the chance to stay here long as he was very poorly but we know they really did look after him as best they could and were always so patient and kind.

My Granddad has been looked after here at Wilmington manor since December 2022 and his health has improved massively with the general care from staff. We as a family did not think he had any life expectancy left as he was very frail and weak, however, he is now a different person, has put on weight
looking very well and we as a family see a longer future for him. He has massively changed in the 6 weeks where in the past he has been in and out of the hospital and has now gotten the care he needed from Wilmington Manor Care home The home is in general clean and has a very warm feeling. I feel there could be an improvement with the size of the room. He likes the food in the home and he is just very happy to be here.

Current Review Score: 9.5 (9.483)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.5 (9.483) out of 10 for Wilmington Manor Care Home is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 4.6 out of 5 from 16 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 4.9 out of 5 from 15 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.608 for Wilmington Manor Care Home is calculated as follows: ( (128 Excellents x 5) + (43 Goods x 4) + (15 Satisfactorys x 3) ) ÷ 186 Ratings = 4.608
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 4.875 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Wilmington Manor Care Home is based on 15 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 20 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews, 0.05 Points for the next five Positive Reviews, and finally 0.025 Points for the next ten Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.050, 7th = 0.050, 8th = 0.050, 9th = 0.050, 10th = 0.050, 11th = 0.025, 12th = 0.025, 13th = 0.025, 14th = 0.025, 15th = 0.025, 16th = 0.025, 17th = 0.025, 18th = 0.025, 19th = 0.025, 20th = 0.025) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 = 3.875
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 50 registered maximum number of service users is 10, which has been reached with 15 Positive reviews. Points = 1
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
